Ive never wanted to create an account on Mumsnet, I’m a happy lurker. But seeing this. I’ve never wanted to create an account more and tell this person what an utter stuck up cunt they are.

Will I get banned on there for saying cunt?

I've always also found the "should I go to A&E" threads odd.

And the ones where their partner or child has just passed away & want a virtual hand hold. The cynic in me thinks those threads can't be real

Did anyone read the one recently where the posters husband wanted to try out single life and because she ‘loved him so much’ she agreed to a “trial separation” and was gonna go away for 3 weeks with their kids so he could be single in their marital home.

Unfortunately that was pulled too. There’s some corkers recently.

Some of them are quite xenophobic about the UK - according to some the UK is the most hated country in Europe, everyone in Europe thinks this , country is a laughing stock, British people dress badly and stand out a mile out so it's obvious they're British. British people don't try the local culture and just eat all inclusive or chips in Spain or bother to learn another language, which isn't strictly true.

The best part was when someone said she was so ashamed to be British that she pretends to be French when she goes on holiday .

I didn't read the Jake Daniels thread but I was speaking about it at work with some college students who all thought it was a positive thing. My brother works in a school and one of his students aged 16 came out to him that she was a lesbian so I'm hoping that this does some good with others in a similar situation.

I always think the thing about us being a laughing stock is such a weirdly UK-centric view as well. As if all the other Europeans have nothing better to do than sit around discussing the latest kerfuffle in British policy and giggling about how stupid it makes us look, instead of, y'know, having stuff going on in their own countries.

I'm actually surprised she didn't screenshot my comment where I called them miserable cunts and pin it on Tattle generally. It's a casually used word in my circles and means something akin to bastard (ie not gendered) and I forgot its not used that way normally. I did think afterwords 'oops, bet that was too strong for Tattlers, probably not appreciated and they won't interpret it the way I meant it either' but by then I couldn't edit. I came in here expecting to see it.

I think what some of them can't grasp is yes, we can be harsh but about celebs not to celebs. Celebs put themselves in the public and we are in our rights to criticise them. Very different target and context. Whereas, Mumsnetters can be harsh to each other and many, many users write to essentially dominate conversation, just to get their opinion out. Tattlers aim to entertain each other.

I don't understand the point in the new "formatting" of the site, I don't think there's been any new features added at all? Still can't react to posts. "Mumsnet is a very large, complicated and old site" - It's not a complicated site at all it's the most basic of message boards that are still on the internet today and way past its heyday

Omg yes I thought it was common knowledge that NHS workers and emergency services had to cover up their uniform when not at work to avoid harassment. Poor neighbour!

Op of that post said something like if she was really a paramedic she’s be proud and wouldn’t cover her uniform up with a hoody ah yes, because paramedics are well known for never being cold!

Wow, the tattle thread is still up. I’m amazed, and amazed at how many of them also use this site and are defending it. Maybe they’ve seen the light and realised how awful MN is?

I think there's probably quite a few people that are on both. It's not like you have to pick a side or anything.

One thing that annoys me on there is the smug middle class stay at home mothers of school age children who act a cut above because their husband is a higher earner. My other half is a higher earner I couldn't imagine anything worse than sitting on my arse while my child is at school. He may earn more than me but I'll always have my own money and career what happens if the husband's ask for a divorce?

One poster was asking for advice for meals to cook on a very strict budget (which her children would eat and enjoy) some Mners suggested fecking lentils and oat soup for nutrition I don't know a single child who would enjoy that . They are on another planet honestly.

They failed to check him out properly, deleting evidence against him and banning members who were suspicious which led to more and more people being scammed. Once MNHQ realised their mistake, they refused to acknowledge it, nuking the original threads and banning conversation on it. Reddit has some threads. Search for 'david caroline mumsnet'

You know what, I'm probably ultra middle class by some standards, but I have never ever in my life considered taking cocaine. Nor have 99.9% of my friends. A bit of weed back in the early 80s was one thing - gentler stuff back then, and like twice a year for a year or so? Cocaine and anything else way too scary. I am a wuss, but a sensible one.

I used to have a housemate who took 45 minute showers. This poster would probably have expired after that long.

The utility bill threads sometimes make me wonder if anyone actually bothers to check how much things really cost before getting themselves into a state about it. I shower for about 15-20 minutes a day and with my crappy electric shower that I run very hot it costs less than 15p - unless the OP is really having to budget every last pound in a month it doesn't seem worth fighting over. Granted showers probably vary in efficiency, but loads of posters will go on about how they won't be able to afford hot meals for example, when running an 800W microwave for five minutes costs less than 2p even with the new price cap. Using a gas hob or boiling a cup of water in the kettle is even cheaper. It really annoys me because it seems like most of these posters are exaggerating how much they're struggling for the drama - if they were actually having to count every penny they'd know these things!
