It almost sounded plausible until they dropped in that an 11yo girl is looking for “MILF” and “slutty mom” content. 100% made up by a perv.
That’s just disgusting. How can the moderators let stuff like this slide but will delete a thread or reply over the most inane stuff? Really makes me question what type of people run that site and what type of people are using it.

Off topic. I watched inside out today on Disney plus. Each of those little characters/personalities in the little girl’s head are just like mumsnetters! Anger! Disgust! Sadness! (like 85% of them are miserable pessimistic bits), Fear! and the one who they’ll always try to bring down, joy!

That’s mild compared with some of the gross stuff men post. Usually it’s about leaking night nappies, incontinence, period flooding, asking people to describe how they wash or apply cream to little girl’s genitals…

Just gross. I haven’t ever seen anything like that but I don’t look too often. Thankfully. What is wrong with people? I am just astonished that the moderators and the owners allow this if it’s so blazingly obvious. Do they just want the extra traffic of people coming on to the site to argue with the original poster or is it sinister? I genuinely feel really naive and …sick tbh.

I only posted once (about not wanting a male midwife - sorry not sorry) and was accused of being a male midwife?!

Why do they all get their knickers in a twist over people wanting to visit their newborns!?

Its always ‘i would NEVER allow anyone to visit us until we have had 365 days together a family’ blah blah..’ i get wanting your own time as a family but you don’t need a whole
Month! people who love you are excited and want to show their love.

And then a few years down the line the same people complain about lack of family help 🙄

Basically what they mean most of the time is i want to keep MIL away, but my mum is ok.

Incredible humble brag on a thread currently running…someone posted that they feel like a fraud because they work from home and spend 50% of the day on Netflix. Within a few responses someone asked what she does, and said it’s sounds easy.

OP ‘yeah it’s ridiculous, I’m not way worth the six figure salary I am paid’

Very smooth…

I have come to the conclusion most of what is posted on Mumsnet is fiction. The remainder is stepford wives determined to get you into DuBarry boots and a North Face quilted duvet

There's a thread in relationships RN which refers to something called The Turtle. It reads like an absolutely bonkers sex-based reward system for house-trained men. Probably the most WTF thing I've ever read on there, although that seems to change on a daily basis.

I was just reading a thread where a woman had had two random items - a book and a brand new kids doll - left on her doorstep over the past week. Tbf I was starting to feel a bit creeped out by it myself reading the comments (lots of people talking about stalking) and then suddenly the whole thread was gone. Why do they pull them? It said something about checking behind the scenes…

It’ll have been a giant big old troll. I suspected it was balls from the first post. The trolling on MN tends to fit into a series of set topics, and mysterious objects/unexplained happenings is one of them.

This will have been a troll who has posted successful ‘mysterious happenings’ threads in the past. Just tweak a few details, and next thing you know you’ve got an escalating multi-thread saga with hundreds of eager followers begging for hourly updates. Troll paradise.

I saw that yesterday! Very subtle and classy!
About the newborn thing, I would have had any stranger come visit me (let alone family) so they could be amazed at this stunning (average) human being I had made and regale them with my bravery of giving birth!

The style and beauty threads kill me.
There's one at the moment, everyone falling over themselves to rave about an item the OP has posted which really isn't very nice at all. They're such an echo chamber though, the first poster says that's lovely and they all follow suit. Ditto if it's something they don't like. Ugh.

I made the mistake of posting for outfit suggestions once. Never again!

The wedding dress one? If so, sorry that is one weird dress to get married in

Yes that's the one. I wasn't going to say which thread because I felt a bit mean about someone's wedding dress but I really didn't like it! I know not everyone wants a full on meringue but surely there's a middle ground.

That said I worked with someone years ago who got married (in her navy work suit, think standard late 90s office wear) in her lunch hour and came straight back to work afterwards 😂

The "help, my adult daughter got a tattoo" thread is horrendous.

Normally at least the OP may be batshit but there'll be a decent ratio of sensible to ridiculous from other posters. Not here. So much hand-wringing about creating perfect humans with perfect skin and them destroying it with tattoos... 🤦🏼‍♀️
