There's a thread on there at the moment about someone losing a box of Hotel Chocolat and the thread didn't make it to the end of the first page before someone piped up about how it's awful, nasty chocolate, full of palm oil and they prefer artisan du pompidou chocolate. I hate them.

There's a thread in the style section where someone needs help on how to tuck a shirt into pants.:)

53 posts and counting...
It’s not really about tucking in a shirt, though: it’s about letting everyone know that she’s such a teeny, slender size 8 ‘hourglass’ that normal clothes designed for us lardy types literally swamp her delicate, 18” waist. Hence the photos to demonstrate that her waist is the size of the average person’s wrist.

Then there‘s all the ‘I agree with AF’ that’s after 100 people have all said exactly the same thing, some eejit comes along with the ‘I agree with AF’ as if she’s the Queen Bee and they want to be in her inner circle!
They love Any Fucker. She’s a rude, blunt, arsey twat but I think she gets away with it because she’s one of the well known ones. She had a thread during lockdown asking if it was ok to go to her holiday home because she was fed up. Anyone else would have got a pasting, but there were loads telling her it was ok because she’s AF and deserves a holiday because of all the good advice she’s given on MN.

HarryToby - you’ve just reminded me of the one time I was foolish enough to start an advice thread!

I remember posting about some concerns I had about my 6yo being unable to entertain herself at home. I was really perplexed by this, because no child I’d ever encountered before was so resistant to sitting down with a toy or a puzzle or some colouring pencils and just getting on with it. I wondered if anyone else had a child like this and what did they do about it?

Someone piped up: did I take her to the park often?

To this day I do not know why that question was relevant to my dilemma.

I replied no, not really. My then-toddler was a total disaster in parks and had to be closely followed to make sure he didn’t seriously injure himself falling off a slide/walking in front of swings etc. Which meant that my older child got neglected and would stand there screaming at me to push her on the swings when I physically couldn’t. I said I found it FAR too stressful and basically couldn’t supervise two kids at the park by myself.

I got slaughtered. A massive pile on started. Post after post berating me for not taking my kids to the park. What was wrong with me, making excuses like that? Did I need help with my anxiety issues or something? It’s no wonder my child couldn’t sit down and amuse herself with toys or crafts if I didn’t take her to play outside!

I was made to feel like the shittiest parent on the planet. They spotted a chink in my armour and just attacked. I changed my username and never went back to the thread. To this day I don’t even understand how taking my kids to the park was supposed to be the answer to all my problems.

And guess what? Both of my kids were diagnosed with autism several years later. The toddler with no sense of danger? Autistic. The 6yo who couldn’t play by herself? Autistic. I wasn’t a shit parent. It wasn’t my fault.
They’re all wankers looking for an online scrap because I think a lot of them wouldn’t dare say boo to a goose in real life. I once had an argument with someone on there about how I could have prevented my daughter developing T1 diabetes. You can’t, and if you could or there’s any known advice, I would have followed it to the letter, but that poster was adamant that in my position, she would have done everything she could to stop her child getting it (but couldn’t actually tell me what that would be. Just that she would have done it).

I can imagine Linda of the Home Counties, laptop on her knee, in her 5 bedroom detached house (decorated with F&B) and her statement necklace and waterfall cardi, feeling rather daring typing ‘are you on glue?!’ It’s probably the hardest ‘drug’ she knows, even though she necks 5 bottles of red at the weekend.
Oooh sounds like she lives "very rurally"

The only place i like on mumsnet is the feminist board.

Rest of the site is shambolic when it comes to trans and womens rights 🙄

There used to be a MN “royalty” poster who would pick someone up on something then follow them round the site after using advanced search mouthing off at them. People used to say oh it’s only… (can’t remember their name now)
AnyFucker? WorraLiberty? ‘Bluntness’? Vile hags those three in particular.

How often do you actually hear about trans assaulting women in female changing rooms? I don't think I've ever seen a new story about it. Yet it seems to be all they talk about on the feminism boards.

Thing is, the only way a massive salad is in the least bit interesting is if you douse it with a really nice dressing, which probably contains oil, and maybe egg yolks if you are going fancy, and chuck in a few croutons... and some lardons...

My favourite recurring theme is where a mother of a young child posts about a dilemma she’s having, and someone always responds, “You need to go back to work”. Doesn’t matter what the problem is, it could be something really minor, the solution is “go back to work”. Even women who post about struggling with needy, whingey babies get told to go back to work to get away from them.

Some people have huge axes to grind about the very concept of SAHMs. God forbid if anyone posts about being one, they’re besieged with replies telling them they’re setting a bad example to their daughters, their husband resents them and will soon have an affair with a colleague etc etc.

I read one thread last week and the poster didn’t say anything about being a SAHM, the 3rd or 4th reply was telling her to go back to work 🤣

Did any one catch the JL glitch thread this morning - it was in Christmas - so many people might have not seen it but basically there was a glitch with a promo code for YSL on the John Lewis website on Sunday afternoon. Instead of just knocking £20 off YSL perfumes the code was knocking £20 off every item in the basket!

Of course some of them went mad and filled their basket with items around the £20 mark as the error meant those items were free so really taking full advantage and also paid for next day delivery. A support thread was then set up because some felt guilty and others were wondering if they would get their items. One poster screenshotted that she added 70 odd items to her basket worth like £1300 but only paid £161!! Unbelievable.

of course they all turned on each other and questioned the morality of what they had done. Said poster who saved herself like 1200 quid was exposed as a charity CEO from her other posts! Proper LOL. Of course mumsnet have deleted it though, god help an actual debate is allowed to run.

Tattle is one of the friendliest places on the Internet, people can disagree here without descending into chaos and name calling. It's literally the only place I participate because I really can't be fucked arguing with strangers on the Internet, I have a life 😂

…..or saying girl instead of woman
The worst one I remember for this was when a young woman posted - totally upset, had a young baby with her boyfriend and she discovered he has been cheating. She said 'he has been sending loads of messages to this girl' and one of the first responses was 'he has been messaging an underage girl?'

Such a blatent deliberate faux misunderstanding to someone in turmoil. So awful!!

There also used to be a poster called ‘expatinscotland’ who used the fact that she was a bereaved parent as an excuse to be astonishingly rude to other posters and if anyone dared challenge her you’d be victim of a pile on because ‘don’t you know her child died’. Well yes actually and that’s awful, but it doesn’t give her a right to be so fucking nasty to other people which I saw her do on many occasions.

Don't ever bother looking at the money threads where a salary of under £150k is considered on the breadline. It's depressing.

The husbands probably spent most of days locked down either hiding in their home offices or cycling while the Mumsnetters were stood at the window with binoculars and making notes about Number 11 going out for their second walk of the day.

Two glasses of wine and you are alcohol dependent too. Joyless arses.
I hate these joy thieves. They're unbearable.

The kind of women who have imposed so many restrictions on what they eat and drink and who they fuck and how and when and what they do and how they dress that they really, really resent those of us who don't give a fuck.

I just had a share bag of cheese and onion crisps and half a bottle of red for my tea and about to wash it down with some apple crumble and probably the rest of the bottle. Fuck them and their lives devoid of pleasure 😂.

When I used to use Tumblr, there was quite a worrying amount of people who had eating disorders due to their parents, mostly mothers controlling everything they eat, extreme portion control, no foods over so many kcal were allowed in the house and the mothers making hurtful comments such as “greedy pig” or “whale” on the child if they have had anything to eat more than a bowl of soup that day.

I now sometimes use TikTok, and the problem has never changed and I once seen a video where a girl had a panic attack because she had a pot noodle and she was terrified of her mother finding out. She even has a small safe under her bed to be able to hide food from her mother.

I don’t know why the mods on a site that is there to help mothers be the best parent they can be, would allow such a mindset to be on there. It’s not right.
