Just to add to the amount of trolls on there - you can’t get any info on a poster without paying their subscription! So you can’t see if a poster is new, has posted before etc. Although of course the name change never helped with that. Anyone can log on as anyone posting whatever and wherever there and you have no idea what they have posted before or any idea how long they have been a member of the site. It’s like they want as many trolls as possible tbh

Found it thank you. It seems like the landlord doesn’t like drinkers maybe time for a new profession. It just sounds like they were a bit giddy and went a bit overboard at the start to me.

Why didn’t the husband just ask the landlord for a recommendation. Most pubs are more than happy to give a small sample before buying a full pint & I’m sure any landlord will have seen people in a worse state than drinking one bottle of Prosecco over the course of the night. God I’d hate it if my landlord passed comment on some of the nights me and my girlfriends have been in the pub (although we are all a good bunch and never cause any fuss or drama just giggle and chat).

One of DH's friends from school has worked at GCHQ for the last 25 years. He happily uses loads of SM. He's always said that if someone with the expertise wants to hack you then there's really sweet FA you can do about it.

Agree. My DSis and DBIL ( see what I did there ) both work in cyber security.

I don’t know. I don’t ever drink: I just don’t like the taste of alcohol!! But whenever I’m out I’m always in the minority - or even the only person not drinking. So much so that everyone asks if I’m pregnant, on antibiotics or have an alcohol problem! Nooooo, I just don’t like it! My vice is chocolate. I eat a family bar a night - ask my dentist!

I don't do chocolate or alcohol. Or biscuits. Even I think that MNs are insane whenever these things are mentioned.

Absolutely agree! In fact, there’s a thread running about this on MN at the moment. Apparently some businesses can’t fill vacancies and as usual there’s a ton of polarised opinions, but I’m with the people saying that these companies need to offer better wages, no zero hour contracts and better working conditions. They’ve had 20 years of being able to pick and choose who they employ and with Brexit and Covid it’s coming back to bite them on their arses. The government should never have had to top up the wages of employees who work for companies that make millions of pounds profit a year, yet will only offer zero hours contracts and minimum wage (and absolutely no disrespect to anyone who claims TC or UC). It’s exploitation, both of foreign workers and British workers.

For all the talk about difficulty hiring, I'm not seeing muuch movement in salaries for anyone other than Lorry Drivers. I'm looking to change jobs, live in the SE (within zone 6) and still only seeing salaries around the £20,000 mark for customer service roles.

Was just reading a post about katie price/Carl woods. Asking the valid question if they are both saying he didn’t hit her, then who did. Someone jumped on there telling the op it wasn’t “kind” to talk about it and then a few mins later, a mod pops on to say it’s being removed for being “too speculative” ! ffs, katie price literally sold the story two days after the incident to a tabloid, and has done at least one more story on it since then! As well as overseeing every detail of her life generally. Yet we are all meant to sit in silence according to mumsnet and not discuss it why a load of grown women (and a few men) continue to let some power hungry uprights control what they discuss is beyond me.

I was banned for speculating about celebrity affairs, didn't just have my post removed but was banned just like that. The mods are ridiculous, power hungry simpletons who probably also run their local parish council meetings in their spare time when not moderating mumsnet. The only thing I miss is not being able to ask for advice on the gardening or property/DIY boards

When your weekly ticket to work in London is 150 a week with one train a hour during rush hour we need as much London weighting as possible

I asked a friend about this and, once she finished laughing, said she hadn't seen a job advertised with LWA in *years*. I was quite shocked as I remembered it being the thing when looking at London jobs, starting out myself about a decade ago.

I think if you’re considering Centreparcs, it’s actually cheaper to go to a CP abroad. The prices here absolutely rocket in school holidays, but if you go to one of the European ones that have different school holidays, it’s a lot less. Apparently somewhere like Belgium? I haven’t looked into this too deeply though, because as I said, I can’t see the appeal personally

Well all the public service jobs include london weighting, they have informed all DOH, NHS I X E and DHSC staff if they do not return to the office they will remove it. Staff elsewhere in the country doing the same job do not get the same rate, hence the distance that many staff travel into London

Yep I’ve only seen it on public sector roles, these tend to be (criminally) underpaid and the weighting is woefully inadequate. I think a lack of London weighting is making it harder to hire junior or mid weight candidates in my sector as they’d earn the same up north and have a significantly better quality of life versus house shares and shit landlords. London’s not even as appealing anymore for young people tbh it’s been gentrified and sterilised to fuck.

She...sold her light bulbs? She sold them? She genuinely thought that was a good idea? And there was another person who bought them? In real life? In the world I have to live in with them? Just walking around, allowed to vote? OK. I would like the see the diagram where people who sell their lightbulbs intersects with people who stop at the top of escalators, because I bet there's a huge overlap there.
