House of Tea

Some poster is now saying that noisy eaters shouldn’t go out in public if they can’t eat nicely without smacking their mouth when they eat. Already someone has told her to look up misophonia as she might have it. A lot of posters claim they have misophonia.
I am claiming that I have misophonia too. Noisy eaters give me the rage. I have to move.

Posts like this drive me mad! Why would a journalist care about MNs opinion on conscription. It's not likely to be happening any time soon. In fact anytime they suggest that the OP is just getting opinions or stories for a newspaper it makes me cross 🤣. Who outside MN cares what they think.

Anyone reading the social media show off thread? LeTwat is on there justifying her incessant showing off.
Link please?

Some of them have definitely lost the plot on the fix the world thread. Now we have curfews for men on there as well as making them extinct.

A world made up of just Mumsnetters:

This isn’t so much a mums net post but I have been trying to remember the name of an Instagrammer for weeks now and I know she used to have loads of issues with mumsnet threads about her and she always claimed she was bullied and I think she tried shutting them down!

can anyone remember her - she had a bit of a following, I’m sure she was a single mum, very anti Tory and I’m sure she used to always post about poverty and was maybe even a writer (I’m sure she was holding audiences where she was discussing poverty) but there were rumours she was actually not in poverty at all and was using it for her own gain - pretty sure there was an issue with the fact she was gifted a rug or something but couldn’t buy food? Pleassse say someone remembers it’s been bugging me for ages!!

There’s one at the moment about charging their adult children housekeeping
It’s always housekeeping threads
I’m fucking skint and can’t afford another adult so yes my adult children when required will pay housekeeping thank you very much and no I won’t be giving it back for deposits on their houses
I’ve been skint I’ve been flush and then skint again
I grew up in a council house and I’m the only one out of my siblings with a mortgage
It’s hard for most at the moment
We get by. We are not wealthy , we have a mortgage but work bloody hard for it .yes I do wish I’d have done better at school instead of being a knob . But it is what it is and I work in a minimum wage job I detest because I have to not because I want to
It’s all not unicorns and rainbows, some have to work to put food on the table and have clean ironed clothes
Agree, and spoiling them doesn’t do them any favours. This sounds awful but the adults I know who are privileged enough to live at home are taking the piss out of their parents tbh and living subsidised lifestyles (cars, holidays, fillers, teeth, etc) off the back of them. They don’t have any incentive to do better or save up because they’re half expecting a windfall down payment from mum & dad, or inheritance from grandparents anyway.

This isn’t a similar stealth brag to the post but it’s something we’re hyper conscious of with our little one after we both come out doing well after poor childhoods. I think the most important privilege a kid can have is emotionally available & well parents for starters so fuck m*msnet going on about it as if it’s child cruelty to charge your adult children rent. If they feel that strongly against rent maybe lobby to nationalise housing huns?

But re financial privilege the only privileges I want to give our daughter is having us *as a back up plan* or knowing she can tell so and so shit boss/partner/uni to fuck off and just come back home and have us as a back up until she finds her own way back on her feet, which is exactly how I see my marriage to someone earning a lot more than me - both in his £ isn’t guaranteed to him forever and he could leave me at any time tbh - but for now it’s allowed me to make different choices and opt out of bullshit. As a parent I don’t see how I can expect excellence from my daughter if she’s wholly or partially funded by us, surely that removes all incentive?

Btw I say this I’ve been a mum for five minutes lol, she’s only one but I’m already conscious of how we can parent her to have good socialist values looool

There was a thread the other day where the OP was annoyed at people wearing their work lanyards in the supermarket
That one made me laugh as I am one of those women who forgets to take it off when I nip into the shops after work 🤣

We’re meant to go halfway across the country in a few days with a one year old for a wedding and I think we’re going to have to seriously consider if it’s worth all this risk. I don’t think we’ll get fuel unless husband is willing to wake up at 5 and queue for hours, and even then £30 worth won’t get us far.
I got petrol Saturday, drove to the petrol station, it was busy, but not queuing out onto the road, filled up no problem

I think he did a flounce a couple of years later when he was mentioned on “Which posters you can’t stand” thread.
I asked MNHQ why they didn’t ban him and they said he didn’t break talk guidelines. He was creepy before he posted about what he did to that dog though. Made my skin crawl.

The thread on the MIL and social media photo is ridiculous, they are a bunch of banshee’s as soon as MIL is mentioned.

also now all of a sudden everyone either works in cyber security or their neighbours giraffe works in cyber security so they ‘get it’ 🙄
That thread is a great example of how the posters in aibu egg each other on

I saw an old guy on a mobility scooter earlier today, being escorted by two police cars, because he decided to take it down the duel carriageway! There was a massive queue of rush hour traffic being help up by him.
In Mumsnet land the police would be accused of being ‘ableist’ for that no doubt.

There was a thread earlier where the Op’s daughter does dancing and was told off by her friend for dancing instead of walking normally. She deliberately goaded her pal and ended up on the ground with a hurt arm. The OP is more bothered that her mum friend bitched about her daughter than the fact that her daughter was rude to her friend.

A lot of the time it's things like ' What's the point in my DH running his hedge fund if 50% of his 3rd million is going to go on tax?' rather than people genuinely struggling.
Shit, and here's me thinking a hedge fund is what you need in order to plant a new hedge to cover up neighbour's horrible fence...
