I was on a thread the other day where some bullying was going on

Someone reported it and what happened was that all posts that contained the word bully/bullying were deleted regardless of context.

Some men definitely take for granted that the new wife will step in as mum, without considering the fact many women don't actually like other people's kids and will find the child no more than an inconvenience.

Obviously what happened to Arthur is the extreme end of the spectrum, but they'll be lots of kids subjected to mean or indifferent women because she wants a relationship with their father, and their father thinks his partner should play mummy to his kids.

There is a step mum that used to frequent MN. She had to play mum to her step kids and obviously didnt like them. She bought different food for them and went mad when they ate her kids food. But when ever I read her threads I just thought, why isn't the man parenting his kids and leaving it to this woman. Because for a lot of people it's only natural for you to want your kids to have more/better and you'll not want to spend time parenting someone else's kids.

This is what I've noticed. There's barely anyone that say they're on a normal salary of say £30k and just comfortable and living within their means. Everyone's either on six figures or trying to scrape two beans together to make a meal (or both at the same time)

This is one of my favourite tradesmen stories from MN from a thread where they all tried to outdo themselves over incidents where a tradesman dared to talk to the lady of the house instead of tugging their forelock. I think we can safely change the end line to ‘there is no way this encounter happened’. View attachment 865527

So many threads end up like that! This one reminds me of a thread about 'pretty woman moments' which started OK, but became more and more outlandish, with stories that were clearly badly written fakes to make posters look good!

They often have a 'script' where the poster writes everything each person said in the conversation with detail, usually with a sort of quip or punchline that makes the poster look so clever!

I made the mistake of reading the Covid Board yesterday and it felt like I’d been in a time warp and transported back to 2020 with some of the replies regarding Christmas.

I think some of them on there are:

A) Mentally Unwell/Have Severe Health Anxiety
B) Trolls
C) Government Shills

There isn’t any middle ground on that board either - you’re either a mask loving lockdown lover or a anti vaxxing conspiracy theorist.

I agree that there’s a mob mentality on there.

I think it's mostly A.
They think it's fine to inflict their personal neuroses on others.

Although I suppose most of them see it as a comfortable echo chamber.

There's no sense of personal responsibility ie working on their anxiety issues.
They just lash out at anyone that doesn't have the same problem

It's amazing to me just how afraid they all are.

They love Any Fucker. She’s a rude, blunt, arsey twat but I think she gets away with it because she’s one of the well known ones. She had a thread during lockdown asking if it was ok to go to her holiday home because she was fed up. Anyone else would have got a pasting, but there were loads telling her it was ok because she’s AF and deserves a holiday because of all the good advice she’s given on MN.


They’re all wankers looking for an online scrap because I think a lot of them wouldn’t dare say boo to a goose in real life. I once had an argument with someone on there about how I could have prevented my daughter developing T1 diabetes. You can’t, and if you could or there’s any known advice, I would have followed it to the letter, but that poster was adamant that in my position, she would have done everything she could to stop her child getting it (but couldn’t actually tell me what that would be. Just that she would have done it).

I also hate the MN threads where they ask “What happened to this poster? And I haven’t heard from poster X for years? Then suddenly said posters appear (or name change/change from sock puppet account to the old one) and posters are falling over themselves to fawn over them.

Oh that will be the sekrit FB groups with the alerts. The same twats that do the ‘vair’ on threads and Reddit. FYI you are not funny.

I swear there were multitudes of Mumsnetters at my children's junior school. You know the ones I mean. Skinny to the point of scrawny. Vast thigh gap. Long straight hair that looks brittle because they've haven't eaten dairy since 1997. Survive on a daily single dose of black coffee and dust. Deeply, deeply uptight and unhappy.

Company’s are talking about removing London weight from those working from home

Those companies are trash and will only attract trash as a result. Although saying that I know not every discipline is the same and for employees with less bargaining power (so younger, or more junior, or “less skilled”) they’ll be disadvantaged by this, I know of people working admin/PA roles in big legacy dinosaur companies who’ve been forced back into the office 5 days a week & had requests to go part time refused & have been threatened with the “well if you want London salaries…!” Bollocks. The job market isn’t the same for them so they’ll be forced to comply for lack of other options - so will take home less of their salaries for commuting, less leisure time, potentially higher childcare fees, etc etc which yet again exacerbates inequalities.

Sorry for the essays but employers being dickheads after a period of time where their employees went above and beyond to be flexible and still execute >100% of their workload despite lockdowns, illness, children at home actually knocks me sick. I hope a list of these bellends will be compiled so I don’t ever spend a penny with them.

This isn’t so much a mums net post but I have been trying to remember the name of an Instagrammer for weeks now and I know she used to have loads of issues with mumsnet threads about her and she always claimed she was bullied and I think she tried shutting them down!

can anyone remember her - she had a bit of a following, I’m sure she was a single mum, very anti Tory and I’m sure she used to always post about poverty and was maybe even a writer (I’m sure she was holding audiences where she was discussing poverty) but there were rumours she was actually not in poverty at all and was using it for her own gain - pretty sure there was an issue with the fact she was gifted a rug or something but couldn’t buy food? Pleassse say someone remembers it’s been bugging me for ages!!

They always sneer at Primark, B & M and shops like that and say how bad they are for the environment but like other people, I've got lots of Primark items from at least 8 years ago and they still look great whereas I bought a Top from M & S and it looked wrecked after just one wear. Plus I love Primark PJs.

This sustainability thing is definitely emporer’s new clothes situ, they’re all being sold far more expensive clothing under the green washed guise of sustainability, when really the most sustainable thing to do is *not* buy clothes, don’t buy into trends, make old clothes last through care & repair, and buy second hand where possible. Fair wages for garment workers is a legit thing but a recent study showed that prices only need to rise by something teeny like 1% to allow brands to pay their workers fairly, you don’t need to buy the Insta “buffet dresses” to make an ethical choice. This sort of scorning doesn’t endear anyone to the cause, it’s all about being better than someone else it’s just pathetic!

And scared of becoming one of them but have clothes from nicer places than Whistles lol and I wouldn’t say that I bought them for the quality or was particularly wowed by it? It’s like everything from the perfect Cherry tomato to a bag of fish and chips you judge each thing on its own merits and you can find absolute gems in the weirdest of places? How boring it must be to be defined by ur class aspirations / an image you want to project !!

My front door you can’t open from the outside even if it’s not locked, you still need to put the key in to open it. So it’s only ever locked at night time.
If I had a door that you could just open from the outside I would definitely lock it during the day, even though I live in what mumsnetters would call a ‘naice’ area.

I can’t find the B&B one. I can never really understand why some people go on the internet and tell such a specific story- the daily Mail love mumsnet for story pinching.
I do find there’s a lot of drinking one-up manship on MN. It’s either a bottle a night or I only drink a thimble of wine on my birthday and at Christmas. Anywhere in the middle and you’ll be told you’re drinking too much. (100% respect to the teetotallers whatever their reason).

Everything there is about extremes no middle ground whatsoever.
