Abuse and violence against men is alway dismissed on there. Just recently there was a posted who admitted she‘d chucked a glass of water over partner during a now, and every comment was pretty much saying how he’d driven her to do it. Had that been the other way around she‘d have been told to ‘LTB’, call Women’s Aid etc. The double standards are shocking.

to be fair the AIBU board is hilarious most of the time, just not in the way they think it is
I don’t know what I find most amusing, the pure venom from the posters on that board or The posters who don’t like being told they are being unreasonable.

A lot of unhinged people post in that section

There's next to no balance on those threads and it's full of people taking the piss.

It's either

"omg you fed him two oranges?! He'll be unwell with that much sugar!"

or

"I fed my children snacks of haribo, milkybar and monster munch every couple of hours and they turned out fine. You'll give an eating disorder not giving snacks a couple of times a day"

And the smugness that their children have excellent control and regulation over junk food - they just eat a Pringle and a half and are full so stop. Despite numerous studies showing the human body seaks out high fat sugar foods and it's very difficult to self regulate junk foods.

That site is so troll heavy with them encouraging new accounts and Mumsnet love the publicity from the made up (often very boring) "controversial" threads

There was the classic show us your bedroom thread where someone posted a photo of a Parisian hotel room and claimed it was their bedroom even when it was revealed where the photo actually came from.

I also read that people were taking photos from property sites and passing them off as their own too.

I like the ‘I’m looking for a pair of boots but I only have £350 to spend 🥺’ threads and they get loads of recommendations for the boots that wouldn’t look out of place on my 97 year old nan, but at least they’re LEATHER. ‘I like these, OP’ with a link to some fur lined Hotter boots that look like wellies.

It's one of my guilty pleasures @Pinkii - I love reading the post and then taking bets (umm, with myself) on the first few responses / how long until someone says LTB / how long until misogyny comes into it and how soon before the OP gets the hump

What's that? Why yes, yes I do have a sad life... :ROFLMAO:
They don’t have to LTB, they could book a spa date and dump the kids with him to get back at him!

I remember on thread where the poster accused her young kids (around 6 years old) of being greedy for eating food and she was embarrassed by it. These kids weren't fat or even over weight.
The mum listed what they ate and she seemed to be obsessed with healthy food and in my opinion didn't feed them much. It was quite heartbreaking to read. She called her kids greedy and embarrassing and that she was embarrassed they would finish their food and ask for more when friends were over. It was fucking weird.
It was so sad to read.

So I’ve deleted the MN app today after far too many bitchy comments for either expressing an opinion or actually pointing out law 🙄. I’ve been on the Instagrammers type forums for ages, thought I’d look at the chats to see what you’re all like…and this is the first thread I saw. Think I’ve found my people!

Can someone explain to me why people seem to post a thread at the most unconventional times!?

Eg- husband having a heart attack- need a hand hold waiting for ambulance

If that was a normal Person surely their focus would be on their husband or whatever the situation is.

I can’t imagine going through something scary and my first thought being i need to post on an anonymous forum

Just to add to the amount of trolls on there - you can’t get any info on a poster without paying their subscription!
That's pretty bad! No wonder it's an awful community. They probably charge £5 a month for basic things as seeing poster history makes it so obvious how troll heavy it is and they don't want their sponsors or members seeing it.

Without all the bullshit fantasist threads and people being nasty to other posters for fun there's not much left there.

We've had fantasist posters (why did it take weeks for anyone to report that poster that claimed to have shagged so many of Hollywood's a Listers 🤣?!) but the level on Mumsnet is out of control.

As is the insults at posters and petty shit like correcting someone's grammar or saying they sound stupid. Got no time for that nastyness on tattle.

Bluntness, pops up in nearly every.single.thread making out she's an expert in every topic imaginable. Can't stand the cow.

Also, mumsnetters love to moan about xmas gifts they've been given, but I've noticed the last couple of years the go to gift for their DH's has been an Ooni Pizza oven. I can't imagine their lovely DH's experience a rush of excitement unwrapping that! Especially as it probably can't even be used until about 4 months after xmas

Mumsnet gave me a ban at the start of September for saying that Katie Price has drug drink issues and wasn’t a great parent. They said I wasn’t kind and I couldn’t post like that any more, and I could come back if I was sorry and wouldn’t do it any more

I also them that if I couldn’t post the truth, I wouldn’t be back and made them delete all my posts. They said they ‘couldn’t’ but I replied that ‘I’ve the right to be forgotten’ under the law and I could have given identifying info over the years so they legally had no choice. I did get a final patronising email from them saying they had deleted my emails, so just replied yesterday - I see that my comments have now been proven to be true 😂😂

mumsset is half ‘what baby name to go with Apollo’ and other inane boring topics. I see they’ve allowed a KP thread to stay up. But if KP is regarded as a good parent 🤣🤣🤣🤣

I told them their website is shit, considering the amount of reserves per the accounts, they could spend a bit, greedy fuckers.

I think the lack of updates to the sites is partly because users have stomped their feet so much whenever thingd change. But they should have been dragged into updating things and making it somewhat modern.

They introduced quoting, but you can only quote once and if a post has quoted someone you can't quote so it's pretty useless and a waste of time. And they have a team of technical people doing what exactly everyday?

They made it so you can't edit the quote to prevent abuse rather than making it like here and every other forum and then if someone abuses it then you can take action.

They said the edit button is a bad idea as it would make people gaslight. 😆 So silly refusing / paywalling basic features because they have the potential to be abused when any rational person would introduce them but take action if they're abused.

I’m just reading the thread about a mother outraged that her 13yo would like a Dior perfume for Christmas. She decided to buy a Nina Ricci one at a third of the price… apparently because it’s what she wears.

It sounds like it wasn’t about not being able to afford it, but thinking that a 13yo is somehow unworthy of expensive perfume. I can remember being that age and how special and grown up I would have felt if I had some posh perfume (as it stands, at that age I probably had Anais Anais and even that felt a bit posh).

Most of the replies are flaming her to be fair, but there are some (competitive frugality types no doubt) who are saying things like “Ugh! You’re only paying for the designer name!” and “You don’t want to set a precedent” (???)

There’s also room for some epic snobbery:
Depends …. EDT is not perfume, it’s garbage. EDP is the right stuff.

On the food issue, there are the threads where they outdo each other on how little they eat in a day and the ones where they compete over how healthy their children's diets are and how their little darlings don't even like juice. Then there's the ones who try to outdo each other on how much food their kids can put away when they get in from school and how their kids are all very tall and slim built 🤣 I wish they'd make their minds up about whether overeating or undereating is best!

Both of them are glued to their phone and avoiding the other. She's probably furiously typing on Mumsnet. "My husband just ordered another full fat lager. Think of the calories he'll have to burn tomorrow! He better not be too hungover to take little Constantinople in the morning, it's my allotted Mummy time!"

I still go and lurk over there, even though I hate it! There are so many posters I can’t stand too, the most prolific ones are probably locked up somewhere because there’s no way they have high profile jobs and spend all day on mumsnet!

Hi, just found this thread.

I joined MN when I had my first in 2017 and loved it. But over time it just got pointless. Every thread a repeat, or you get invested only for it to be deleted because its a troll, or the op doesn't want to continue, or its "not in the spirit".

I also found that eventually I felt there was no point in posting, if you don't post in the same way as everyone else then you get jumped on.

The constant blue badge Vs mother and baby spaces did my head in . Only on MN have I heard people believe that mother and baby spaces are for people with disabilities that can't get a blue badge, so mother's shouldn't use them or be annoyed when clearly healthy people are using them. I had a blue badge and a baby so always got drawn in but there is no point in engaging unless you agree with that nonsense.

I'm also a step mum so got interested in the stepmum threads. It's some other kinda mental over there, I got called evil and a wicked step mum because I couldn't see anything wrong with not taking the step child on holiday. Apparently if you can't afford to go in term time with step child, then you're not allowed to go. Even though I go on holiday without my own children!

As time went on I posted less and less, then at a really dark time in my life I posted a really personal problem asking for help and was reported for being a troll, and banned. With no email no message nothing, just banned for asking for help for my real problem that I couldn't talk to people in real life for.

So it's pretty much a pointless site IMHO and just the same delusional nutters posting on threads made up by mn staff and trolls.
I had similar. Posted a story that admittedly sounded ridiculous, but I was genuine and it ruined my life. They called troll, absolutely hounded me and I got my thread deleted in the end.

On a thread about 400/500 quid jumpers, someone said they would spend more than 30 quid on a jumper and someone said...

...

...

I don't know where I'd go to get a jumper under £30.

😆
