They’re ridiculous!
We live abroad and miss our family, our parents and friends. Our two year old baby hasn’t met any of her extended family yet. Her grandparents would love to meet her.
I know it’s our fault for moving away, but streuth! Just because Deborah Van-Sandwich-Dougherty from Buckinghamshire has had enough of holidaying abroad now she has her wisteria covered cottage in the Costwolds to retreat to when things get tough, some of us actually want to travel!

I made the very very stupid mistake of posting on there for advice a few weeks ago (was desperate and not thinking clearly) and got torn apart, accused of drip feeding, and eventually just abandoned the thread, I have no idea how it concluded or if I got genuine help in the end but I don’t want to go back and wade through the replies to look. The only reason I posted there and not here or anywhere else is because of the anonymity with the name change feature but then got accused of being a troll with no posting history.

I remember a thread where a poster said that she and her husband were going away to their holiday home for a long weekend. DS who was 17 refused to come and she wondered if it was fair to leave him alone to look after her DD. It went on and on and somebody asked how old DD was. 6 apparently. Lots of posters saying that it was unfair to expect a 17 year old lad to mind his little sister for a long weekend.

Only then did it transpire that it wasn't her 'Darling Daughter', but her 'Darling DOG'!
i remember similar with “missing DH’ (Darling Hamster). Oh, how many drinks were snorted and keyboards ruined 🙄

They’re currently debating whether statement necklaces are back. I mean, were they ever really ‘in’? At least of the type they’re on about. Some nice lady has posted a picture of hers, and it looks like one of those pasta necklaces kids come home with from nursery.
They were only ever in if your name was Theresa May.

Sad to see that women can't even discuss these issues on an anonymous forum without being labelled as haters or whatever.
This is a big part of the problem tho. Like I cannot understand what I’m missing, as a v left wing / socialist leaning person I struggle to see how I have more in common with the Julie Bindels of the world than the right on Twitterati, and they’re losing us with good intentions because no one will fucking have a conversation with us and explain? Like please can someone explain to me how you’re going to safeguard young girls in communal swimming changing rooms from a person you would assume to be male coming in and masturbating in front of them if self ID is a thing and no one’s allowed to question based on appearance? Is it now an after the horse has bolted policy? Like can someone please explain? The only thing that’s come close is people saying oh dangerous men would do that anyway! Well yes, the very worst of them would but lowering the barrier to entry means you get more nutters offending, surely?! It’s not as if SA or rape convictions are even near double digits because it’s so hard to prove/he said she said (or they said she said you know what I mean). Like is it so bad to ask this question?

The thing is none of this reflects poorly on trans women, because I’m not suggesting a trans woman would do that because I’m sure she wouldn’t. All we are asking for is for people to consider every implication of these policies?

You know when you're in the pub and you see those couples who sit next to each other with a drink but don't talk, look at each other, smile or indicate that they're even aware the other exists? I always reckon they're mumsnet sorts 😂.

If it wasn’t for Mumsnet I wouldn’t have found this site! I lurk there but I find it to be quite vicious!

The snobbery towards tradesmen really grinds my goat. They are actually the new middle class. Have you ever met a poor plumber or electrician? I haven’t. Most of the men in my family are in trade so this really fucks me off actually.
Agreed. If I had my time again I'd have gone into a trade like plumbing then after a few years set up my own business. They make a bomb and they're their own boss

Seems the general trend on mumsnet is hate tbh 😂 whether it's men, mother in laws, the good looking mum at the school gates, poor people, rich people, husbands that work long hours, husbands who don't work, they prettyuch hate anyone that's not a caricature middle class ninny like them!

I've been looking through the "To ask what your bedroom looks like" thread where they're posting photos of their bedrooms and I love these sort of threads because along with the "Show us your xmas tree" ones they just show how hilariously bad taste the majority of posters on Mumsnet have. Purple walls, yellow bed sheets, all Ikea. Totally the opposite of what you'd expect of a £100k earner who lives in a listed cottage very rurally would decorate their house with. I honestly think they all just spout bullshit
It’s like the style and beauty board; so many of them act like the next Anna Wintour. Then they have a “what are you wearing today?” thread and you see they are far less Vogue and much more Take a Break style.

Can someone explain to me why people seem to post a thread at the most unconventional times!?

Eg- husband having a heart attack- need a hand hold waiting for ambulance

If that was a normal Person surely their focus would be on their husband or whatever the situation is.

I can’t imagine going through something scary and my first thought being i need to post on an anonymous forum
Or the ones where ambulances should be called but they check if they are being unreasonable to do so?!

My husband is lying on the floor, clutching his chest and turning blue, would I be unreasonable to call an ambulance

Mumsnet would make a fantastic drinking game. You can have a shot each time you see a comment containing one of the of the following comments or statements:

POAS
Vulva
Mooncup
Naice
Wendied
Mint Velvet
Keep us a float
Keep our heads above water
Go NC

If you see ‘Call Women’s Aid’ or ‘LTB’ that’s a double shot.

We’d all be pissed within minutes!😂
A&e is for accidents and emergencies only. If you aren’t dead you shouldn’t go

I reckon most of them would not behave like the way the write and in truth wouldn’t say boo to a goose.
I remember my friend meeting up with their birth club from babycentre in 2004. The loud mouth of the group sat in the corner hiding. They were all shocked at how the online persona differed from the real life one.

I’m just on the style and beauty section and there’s a thread about boots for a night out. I can’t believe what I’m seeing being recommended. I’m no fashionista but really?! For a night out??
They’d probably pair them with bootcut jeans, a Breton top and statement necklace.

This is one of my favourite tradesmen stories from MN from a thread where they all tried to outdo themselves over incidents where a tradesman dared to talk to the lady of the house instead of tugging their forelock. I think we can safely change the end line to ‘there is no way this encounter happened’. View attachment 865527
Does anyone else get the impression that these Mumsnet keyboard warriors wouldn't say boo to a goose in real life 🤣

is there anyone on MN that doesn’t have a child with SEN?
Or a strapping 6ft rugby playing teenage boy who can wolf down the full contents of the fridge on a daily basis (along with the homemade crusty bread with lashings of butter)

I remember on thread where the poster accused her young kids (around 6 years old) of being greedy for eating food and she was embarrassed by it. These kids weren't fat or even over weight.
The mum listed what they ate and she seemed to be obsessed with healthy food and in my opinion didn't feed them much. It was quite heartbreaking to read. She called her kids greedy and embarrassing and that she was embarrassed they would finish their food and ask for more when friends were over. It was fucking weird.
It was so sad to read.
But you need to remember that most people that post on mumsnet are complete c.unts

Mumsnetters go on about how liberal and well-educated, open and tolerant they are but as soon as something doesn't go their way - Leave winning, Tories getting in etc they become very nasty and resort to calling people uneducated and thick even going as far as wanting intelligence tests before people vote.

I remember the Tories getting in 2015 and tons of posters were posting that they were sat sobbing. Those who voted leave weren't even allowed one thread to celebrate on because the remain voters kept jumping on to berate them further. I think Mn did lose a lot of posters because of it.

One leave voter years later very eloquently wrote about why she voted the way she did and was torn to strips, one delightful poster even going as far as to say that she was a bad parent for voting Leave. It became a bun fight and the thread got deleted.

Mumsnetters don't like to hear opposing views to their own despite being liberal and tolerant and have a mindset of "Democracy is fine, as long as it's my choice"

My MIL is a bitch. Some of the stories I could tell would have mumsnetters clutching at their pearls.
I'm not saying there isn't some terrible MiLs out there but they take it to the next level on Mumsnet. If a MIL shows up announced, they practically cry.

It also gets me as well how clinical and business like they all seem to treat marriage and children.

The parents have to do their own cleaning, their own washing, absolutely do not do each other favours, have equal spends from family money, have equal nights out per week, have equal holidays away, have equals hours and minutes on unspecified hobbies, husband has to deal with his side of the family and wife absolutely must not buy his side of the family cards, presents or organise meet ups etc

A proper marriage is teamwork and being there for the other in anyway you can.
