Not that it matters but I am confused about the he was feeling unwell story, where did that come from? I thought his wife had said it.
There has been so much misinformation in the press these last few days. I don’t know if it’s in their rush to get reports out or things being lost in translation but even when his body was found it went from being found in a cave, to being found at the foot of a 10m cliff next to the entrance to a cave (bbc tv) to actually seeing there was no cave at all and he was next to the resort the other side of the fence.

So I’m not convinced he was unwell when he set off and I’m not convinced he was trying to get home. The only reliable info we can go off really is his wife’s statements. Both of which indicate he had left to go for a walk and then took the wrong route.

So I think it could just be as simple he was on holiday, he wanted to go for a walk, aimed for that beach which is popular with tourists but got into trouble on the way - wrong path, extreme heat, probably not enough water, no phone etc. He was clearly an adventurous person who liked to push himself and in doing so maybe he just misjudged things that day.

He may not even have been lost. He may have just made the decision to walk intentionally to the marina, have drink/lunch there and then walk back again in time to meet the others for the 4pm water taxi or get the bus. It might just be that he didn’t know it was a treacherous path or how long it was, he may have expected a similar walk to the earlier coast path if no-one had specially warned him it wasn’t a well used and safe route. It seems he was known for enjoying walking generally, he had an umbrella and possibly plenty of water in his backpack, the most likely scenario is that he just didn’t anticipate the danger.
I hadn't thought about this, but it's a good point. Maybe the person he spoke to at the bus stop told him he'd missed the bus and the next one wouldn't be for ages. He might have decided to go to the resort hotel and wait for the water taxi with a drink and some food.

I'm sorry this has been the outcome, but glad his family have some closure at least. I was worried he'd never be found.

The bus stop sighting has NOT been verified though, unless I’m mistaken, meaning it has to be discounted.

What we can go on is what’s been said officially: he went for a walk.
Note: this doesn’t include that he was ill, or was heading to the villa, so both of those rumours are probably untrue.

My favourite mistranslation has been calling the manager of the Agia Marina bar/resort, Mr Marina. Agia is the female of Agios (Saint) and Marina is a female name. I don’t doubt there’s been less obvious issues.
I noted his wife stated people were out searching Dawn til dusk, unasked, I think that was aimed at the papers saying nobody was out looking for him.

Very grim, isn't it, that no-one thought to look at the CCTV from the resort until now. Surely someone could have looked at the footage for the Saturday afternoon at least. Especially as he could have just stumbled without a fatal medical episode and been potentially saved.

Poor Michael, he helped so many people with his dietary advice, myself included. So sad that he died alone and in those circumstances. I feel so sad for his wife and children.

Absolutely agree. If I worked locally and had CCTV I’d have looked at it the minute I knew someone was missing.

I hope he fainted from heat or something and was unconscious and slipped away, or banged his head and knew very little about it. I just hope he didn't suffer. It's very surreal.

Harry Hill is a Dr but he doesn’t use the title, similarly he just qualified then moved into telly. Theres a big difference between qualifying, and being, a working Dr.
Harry Hill worked as a hospital doctor after graduating and apparently is still registered as a doctor with the GMC. I don't know if he has to do so many days a year to retain his registration but there was a SNP MP who was a breast surgeon and kept her surgical registration up by first covering the Christmas period at her old hospital and then by doing specialist operations in Gaza so he may do similar.

Michael Mosley went straight into television rather than becoming a junior hospital doctor, the usual route before specialising. He wasn't a registered doctor.

I think it's sad to see people blaming him for walking off in those temperatures. It may be foolish but he obviously didn't expect this, we all make mistakes and over estimate our capabilities sometimes. It could be as simple as taking a wrong turn which pushed his body further than he intended, he lost his footing and couldn't come back from it. Or he could have become disorientated because of already feeling poorly and it impaired his decision making. I mean look how many experienced climbers still call out mountain rescue. Everyone has accidents and expecting someone to be above it that because they are a doctor is naive. It's like saying a fireman should never cause an accidental fire or a mechanic should never allow their car to break down. Absolutely tragic news but I did expect it from the moment he went missing, it usually turns out this way sadly :'( I just hope it was over quick for him.

So Harry Hill is actually more qualified. And he won’t work coz he says he’s been out of the loop too long, I think he just does a bit to keep his reg, a few study days and assisting, maybe.

I don’t know that the CCTV would exactly be “clear” that it was him, you might just see a blob move past slowly then disappear from view, now they know where he ended up its easy to check the footage of the camera looking that way, around that time and look for him, but it may not have even been obviously him if they looked at it before his body was found.

I've found the story and now the announcement of Michael's death so upsetting. I think because in theory it is something that could happen to anyone, just one of those tragedies that happens sometimes and there is no fault or anything off at play.

I feel devastated for his wife and family, they have been so strong. I hope they'll be left to grief how they choose. As ever there were soem horrendously nasty comments about Michael on X, and whether you like a person or agree with what they do or not I will never understand those who spout such bile during tragic times.

I've found some footage of his body being retrieved. I won't post it here. He wasn't by that gap in the wall/fence down by the marina. There's a fence that sits on a low wall, that goes up the slope. He was behind that so would have been completely hidden from anyone in the hotel.

Now I've seen it, I honestly don't think a diffent outcome could have been achieved. He was too far away and sadly, even if they accessed that footage first thing after he went missing, I think it would have been too late.

I couldn't work out before how the article said he stumbled and was obscured by a wall but wasn't seen to get up again. That makes sense now.

This really can happen to anyone, to any family. In 2017 my little sister went missing. It was high profile because we blanketed the city in missing posters. People had no choice but to take notice which was the intention. She was found exactly where she was reported missing, not by the police, but by my desperate mom, deceased in a stairwell. She was 22, her 23rd birthday was the day after she was found. Someone hurt her and is in prison. We can go on all day about the wisdom of going out on a hot day, or bringing your phone or drinking too much….but no one will second guess how anything they could have done differently might have changed things more than the family. Regardless, my sister did absolutely nothing wrong, didn’t deserve anything that happened and just happened to be the random woman this predator got his hands on….and I still want people to learn something without my sister being blamed for a single thing. Always maintain the buddy system, don’t trust strangers who seem friendly and trust your gut. I know that after 5 days of her missing, the police could have found her sooner. It wouldn’t have changed the outcome but she wouldn’t have laid there like she was trash for days while we desperately looked for her for my mother to find. RIP to all the missing, who have passed, whether found or not. My heart is with the Mosley family as their worst nightmare unfolds. Xx

It’s bothering me too much how many people are adding an ‘e’ to his surname.

It’s Mosley’ not ‘Moseley’

Anyone else find the media intrusion over the top? I know they’re always like this, but this time it feels much more intrusive. They were showing photos of his body being taken away, already speculating about him having his bag in his hand in one article and then in another the bag was found 20 metres away.
Whatever happened to resting in peace…such tragic circumstances, I feel for his family. 😔

Yes I think it’s time the media frenzy died down now out of respect for this poor man and his family. There will be more news once the cause of death has been established, there’s no point in the media rehashing things or speculating
