Yeah I don't like this. Clearly there's nothing wrong with it. When you get a match you assume the other likes the look of you and since you set the age range then how is that being a predator? She accepted the call and he dis nothing wrong. What a horrible little girl who needs to grow up or keep her age settings down lol

It’s always cringe when you see older men going after women SO much younger than them, but it’s also not exactly a surprise. He seemed exactly like the type that would do that.
A lot of famous people are inadequate in certain respects, it's why the whole industry is centred on managing their image, or indeed creating an image that is acceptable to the public and at odds with what and who the person really is. What we love in an actor or star is usually a complete and total fabrication. They're all just humans, often ordinary ones like anyone else in reality, and sometimes absolutely crap ones. When we go crazy over an actor, all we are really reacting to is the image concocted to sell them to us. Far as I'm aware Perry is just a long-term drunk and addict and probably quite stunted as a human being. People love Chandler, not him, they just confuse the two. I think it's part of why many actors are so fucked up as well -they KNOW they're pretty shit and yet people adore them for all the things about them that are fake. Or they start to believe the fakery and believe they are that great. Sad, really.

I'm just going to say, if you're a big fan of Matthew and you haven't read his autobiography yet and you are debating whether you're going to get it or not... maybe don't. At least, not right now. Let the dust settle.

I wish I hadn't read it. Chandler was always my favourite character and therefore by extension I loved Matthew. Because I made the mistake of thinking he WAS Chandler. Then I read (or rather listened) to 'Friends, Lovers and the big, terrible thing' and I came away actively hating him (Sorry, but that's the truth) because (and yes, I know we shouldn't speak ill of the dead but go back through the thread, it's all there) he definitely didn’t make it easy to like him. And no, I'm not talking about his addictions, that could happen to anyone. I'm talking about his other behaviours.

And now that all this has happened, yes I feel bad that he has died, it's no age and I feel for his family and friends and many, MANY fans, but I feel like had I NOT bought that book I could have mourned him in blissful ignorance. ATM I just feel... kind of numb. 🫤

RIP MP, I hope you find the peace you could never find in life

Reading the comments, I have to agree that he did come across, while promoting the book, as egotistical. He claimed that he hero worshipped Michael J Fox when Back to the Future came out because he had a number one TV series at the same time as a number one box office hit.

He then said only one other Canadian managed to do the same... me! This was when Friends and The Whole Nine Yards were number 1 at the same time.

Considering the challenges Michael J Fox has had, that comment didn’t land well and actually the comparison in my mind was miles apart. The courage MJ has shown throughout his long battle with Parkinsons is astounding and his recent appearance at Coldplay at Glastonbury was a bawl your eyes out moment of courage and complete lack of ego and vanity - just a music loving fan enjoying the set.

I’m beginning to think I confused Chandler for Matthew and vice versa. I just loved him in Friends and now a bit torn.

Ah, gutted to hear this. I was a massive Friends fan as a teen and absolutely loved him on and off Friends.

I've gone off him somewhat over the past few years with various things, but 54 is no age to die, how sad.

I watched the reunion earlier. Joey & Phoebe still look good or at least naturally ageing and then it follows order of looking puffy, smooth or just not quite right; Ross, Rachel, Monica, Chandler.

Rachel & Monica are definitely all fillered up. It sort of makes them look out of focus? Like there are no hard lines.

Old Chandler looks in bad shape, poor chap. Maybe self inflicted but the contrast is jarring when they show clips of him in the show being sharp and charming then going back to him now hunched, smooth faced and barely talking. Hooray for Hollywood, da-da-da-daaaa! :)

Matthew's family have started the Matthew Perry Foundation of Canada in Ottawa.

The Matthew Perry Foundation of Canada says it will support individuals in their first year of recovery from substance use disorders following treatment, through things like housing support, access to mental health care, peer support, training and placement services and access to healthy food. It will also fund research into addiction treatments.

Here is Matthew's stepdad in an interview yesterday.

Terribly sad, he battled addiction and as someone who has gone through alcohol addiction I know how hard a fight it is, every day is a battle to stay clean. I hope he's at peace now.

Apparently, she had set the age range higher for an aunt and had forgot to take it off. If you believe that, I have a bridge to sell!
Older men trying it on with much younger women has been going on since humans started having sex. He is also famous, so knows he can hit higher than your average male.
She looks like a silly little girl looking for her 5mins of fame, and it backfired.
Now, off to check what my age range is set....!!

So sad, he came across as a lonely soul, hopefully he was at peace and happy in the days before 😔
They said he was at his Los Angeles house, so at least he was at his own home.

Some tabloids saying it was an accidental drowning in a jacuzzi. This was his last Instagram post.

He was playing pickleball earlier in the day and I bet he had a heart attack and then drowned. Poor guy. Sent his assistant on an errand and was dead less than 2 hours later

Watched the documentary, really sad. I think of him often. It's so sad that someone who brought so much joy to so many, was so unhappy within himself.

There was a lot of criticism after he died, having published his book and claiming to be sober, but I don't believe he was lying or pretending to be sober when he wasn't. I think he just couldn't stay on the wagon. He cleaned up quite a few times, but sadly just couldn't stay clean. Addiction is complex and you're not just cured one day and that's it, it's a lifelong effort.

So did the PA inject him with a several vials through the day and then go out and leave him in the hot tub? Isn’t he the same guy who found him?
It sounds like it wouldn’t have matter if the PA was there or not, the death was ruled to be directly related to the Ketamine so not drowning etc? Someone correct me if I have interpreted this wrong. Still don’t understand why the PA would go out although I don’t know what Ket does, maybe he just chilled/zoned out for ages and that’s why he left him.
I’m so sad reading everything that happened to him. Repeated what has already been said, but these sickos took advantage of him, doctors who are supposed to care and take care of human life. One charged him $2k for a vial of drugs that cost $12. I know it’s not even just the money, but the sheer greed is disgusting. I hope they get the book thrown at them and the judge makes an example of them with long sentences as I have no doubt this is happening all over the world where there is fame and money. So sad, poor guy. Although a little bit of me feels angry he claimed to be sober and made his book about it…not sure why it makes me angry but perhaps knowing it was all fake.

America seems horrible for getting people addicted easily, like Matthew had an accident and was prescribed heavy painkillers which he then got addicted too. Then the doctor doesn't prescribe more and they need something else. In the UK they seem very careful about giving people addictive drugs for recovery because of this.
I remember a few years ago, my husband went to America for a work trip and developed a sore throat and cough whilst there. His company encouraged and booked him in to go and see a doctor - something he wouldn’t have done here, he would have waited it out! The amount of stuff they prescribed him was insane, he came home with a full bag of tablets, painkillers, sprays and strong antibiotics. He couldn’t believe how much they had given him and he didn’t even know what half of it was 🤣 They seem obsessed over there with drs and prescribing for any little ailment.

Just jumping in to agree about the teeth - they clearly weren’t his own, and looked a bit Bunny like at some angles.
I’m shocked he’s only 51 though; I don’t think he seemed in good shape on the reunion show, and I thought the others were a bit embarrassed by him, maybe even a bit cold towards him. Cant quite explain what I mean, but something felt off.
Yeah they kind of tiptoed around him, like wary of what he might say or do. He was just sort of there, nervous and uncomfortable. And when Janice came on (and awkwardly perked on the sofa for a few seconds, before having to leave again) she was really warm towards him and wanted to catch his eye, like she was on a different wave length towards him than the others. Probably me reading too much into it.
If he doesn’t remember series 3-6 I bet he was a nightmare on set at times. Must have been some dark days that they all remember.
I remember when it was still on the air I read an interview with him, and I’m he was saying one of the reviews of the first series a critic said they were all good looking but he looked like he’d had too many haggen dazs. His self esteem was really knocked by it.

At one stage, he claimed to be ‘pissed off’ to be alive when all the other similar cases died - that was the night that he was warned he had a 2% chance of life, in hospital. He miraculously lived - the only one, I believe, as four others died and that meant more tiresome rehab as far as he was concerned ... did he want to die and his wish came true? He definitely had little will to live- but does it make it any less sad?

On the flip side - same interview - he claimed it was ‘very unfair’ that the other five in Friends could enjoy the lifestyle and he was the only one who couldn’t. Twice he used the term ‘very unfair’ for the way he was facing addiction and they weren’t. I felt that was shrugging off all personal responsibility - they had all the same pressures and Jen and Courteney arguably more.
