Completely agree!! Skinny bashing is awful! I’ve experienced it throughout my teens and twenties and early thirties, it’s just my build, I can’t help it! I get very defensive when people criticise people like the Duchess of Cambridge for being too thin....they probably wouldn’t say the opposite if she was deemed too fat.
Yes! I walked into a meeting room (shortly before covid zoom meetings were a thing), and someone gasped and said “omg you’re so skinny!” I was lost for words in the moment, but my lovely older manager quickly stepped in and sternly said “Now, would you say omg you’re so fat? No? we don't need to comment on anyone's weight, thank you very much”. Haha love her!

Look it’s a bit ick but the girl engaged with this and then leaked it for her own gain. She matched with him on a dating app and he chatted her up - what exactly has he done wrong here? Looking at it another way, it’s pretty mean to do this and leak just for clout. This is the risk you run when you are in the public eye and I doubt he’s losing much sleep over it.

Wow. You've found the cure! Just choose not to suffer from addiction. You're going to be rich.

America seems horrible for getting people addicted easily, like Matthew had an accident and was prescribed heavy painkillers which he then got addicted too. Then the doctor doesn't prescribe more and they need something else. In the UK they seem very careful about giving people addictive drugs for recovery because of this.

I’m so disgusted at all the shite fashion sites on Facebook trying to cash in on friends merch with his face etc on it. Ghoulish and greedy!

It's also the fact 15 days or something before he died he had a seizure due to the injections but they still continued to give him those injections knowing it could kill him. These doctors are so greedy and have played into his addiction, what chance did Matthew have with these people around him?

I'm just imagining poor old Chandler tuning in, staring at Matt Baker's gormless face as he interrogates Linda Robson about her new six part TV series about bunions, wondering when the hot action will start.
“Could I be any more confused?!”

I hope the poor man is at peace now, I’m gutted. My favourite tv show of all time and one I always fall back on. Such a shame such a funny and loved guy had such demons. The water colour of him and the chick and duck is heartbreaking but beautiful ❤

The “Friends” actress was seen in an aerial paparazzi shot walking to the cemetery alongside Courteney Cox, David Schwimmer and Lisa Kudrow.
I am disgusted. I was looking for information on his funeral, and I saw this video. It's basically just a drone shot, but the fact that this is being done just makes me break out in hives. Not only are there shouting paparazzi all over the place in normal circumstances, but now there are drone paparazzi that can infiltrate private moments like nobody's business.

I don't usually get this emotional over the thought of paparazzi, but Matthew meant a lot to me both growing up and as an adult, and not just as Chandler. Fools Rush In was my favourite movie as a kid, and I rewatch Studio 60, 17 Again, and The Odd Couple all the time.

Why? He hasn’t done anything majorly wrong. Yes trying to chat up a 19 yr old when you’re in your early 50s could be classed as a bit icky but he hasn’t done anything illegal. He was just chancing his luck. From the article the things he was saying to her didn’t sound too sleazy. She said he was a really nice guy.

When you sign up for these dating apps you put the age range of those you want to match up with so she obviously didn’t have an upper age limit. She said “I feel like a lot of guys in Hollywood are talking to all these young girls and it's something that I think a lot of people should be aware of”. So she purposely wanted to match with older men despite her protesting later in the article that she wouldn't “ever talk to older guys” though she thought talking to the Friends actor “would be funny”.

So I don’t get the dramatic ‘Chandler Bing is dead to me’ reaction?
He's in his fifties, engaged and messaging a teenager.

At one stage, he claimed to be ‘pissed off’ to be alive when all the other similar cases died - that was the night that he was warned he had a 2% chance of life, in hospital. He miraculously lived - the only one, I believe, as four others died and that meant more tiresome rehab as far as he was concerned ... did he want to die and his wish came true? He definitely had little will to live- but does it make it any less sad?

On the flip side - same interview - he claimed it was ‘very unfair’ that the other five in Friends could enjoy the lifestyle and he was the only one who couldn’t. Twice he used the term ‘very unfair’ for the way he was facing addiction and they weren’t. I felt that was shrugging off all personal responsibility - they had all the same pressures and Jen and Courteney arguably more.
.
I have seen this interview - he said it was "not fair" and the interviewer repeated it.

I do think that MP was possibly "wired for drugs" because he was given drugs/sleeping pills as a baby and I do think it has impact on the brain.

But of course he had personal responsibility.

I just think that for some people it is easier to get sober and for others it is harder.

Do you think the other "Friends" cut him out or stopped having contact with him? David Schwimmer and Matt also seem to do their own thing, Lisa as well.
Only Jennifer and "Monica" seem very close, still.

I also felt that MP was the one who was most attached to "Friends", from an emotional perspective. He wanted to have the last line, I felt he made a "grand entrance" scene when he came in as the last one at the reunion. It seemed like he always wanted to have a special role cast out for him.

Still breaking the law though, and he was the one with all the power in that house- being the owner and employer. We know nothing of the other people involved stories, - they might have reasons and addiction issues too.

I know someone who bought heroin for their child too - they are the kindest people who simply didn’t know what to do for their child who begged them with his life.
You don't know anything about MP, too.

How do you know he "had all the power in that house"?
When he needed someone to essentially watch him almost around the clock and to assist with his dependency, then it is pretty clear he did NOT have all the power! I don't think it is easy to find someone to live with such an ill person and to even inject them!

Also, those doctors wrote to each other "how much this moron is willing to pay" - doesn't sound like MP had the power, rather than the doctors had the power: because they had the drug he needed and therefore they could freely charge him what they wanted, and obviously did!

I am not even sure, IF he was breaking the law. if he was dependent and ill (anxiety, depression, pain), then those will be mitigating circumstances.
What mitigating circumstances do the doctors have? They really wanted a new Porsche?

For me the doctors are really the ones who are responsible for this - they will have known better, they were purely motivated by greed.
I won't even start with their moral obligations.

Loving this thread. Really interesting. Came for the Matt Perry goss, stayed for the discussions on female body image and the overt pressures applied by the media to look a certain way in the naughties!

I will honestly be so sad if he passes away. I always loved him as Chandler and have been rooting for him to make it through his problems.

So what kind of feeling does one get from ketamine. Is it like heroin?
I had low-dose ketamine infusions for pain. I have no idea what heroin's like but I hated the feeling of ketamine. I needed two nurses to hold me up to walk to the toilet because the room was moving so much. I was sure the floor was covered with sparkling water, even though I knew it couldn't be. I dissociated every time I had it - saw things that weren't there, thought I'd been to places I hadn't been etc... It wasn't unpleasant but I think that was just luck.

It ended up not helping my pain much so I stopped. But it's an anaesthetic so I was pretty pain-free for 24 hours or so after each infusion. I can't imagine how doped up MP must have been on the amount he had in his system. It's incredibly sad.
