I always say no matter the money the great lifestyle people can be effed up. Addiction is an awful thing which takes it's grip and is so hard to get out of. Getting clean and staying that way is hard work. I'm not speculating on his cause of death. It's just so sad and I am sick of (not you) comments int he papers saying he deserved to die because of the drugs and drink.

I think part of the issue was that he had too much money imo. He never had the fear of losing his home or living on the streets.
When you've got $20m a year coming in from Friends royalties you can have anything you want whenever you want it. A recipe for disaster for an addict I'd imagine.

Just jumping in to agree about the teeth - they clearly weren’t his own, and looked a bit Bunny like at some angles.
I’m shocked he’s only 51 though; I don’t think he seemed in good shape on the reunion show, and I thought the others were a bit embarrassed by him, maybe even a bit cold towards him. Cant quite explain what I mean, but something felt off.

I was really into Glee when Cody Monteith died and aside from watching the tribute episode I never really watched Glee again, it just wasn’t the same (the new or old episodes). I have watched Friends from my teens, weekly when the episodes first came out, all of my uni flat gathered round my tv for some of the later seasons, I’ve then watched it as a comfort watch throughout my 20s, 30s and 40s. After I heard the news on Sunday I thought I’d struggle to watch it. I felt “off” on Sunday and Monday, not overly grieving, just not great. I happened to turn Friends on on Tuesday evening and it just made me feel better. I didn’t have the same feeling that I did with Glee. And I think that comes down to how much of a comfort and constant Friends has always been for me, and so many other people. It’s so sad and I think a previous poster is right that in a way we’re grieving Chandler, not Matt. It’s so sad about Matt and so sudden but he had a difficult life and I hope that he’s now at peace. I feel so sorry for the other Friends and also his friends and family as they come to terms with this news. Losing anyone is hard but to do it in the glare of the media must be impossible.

In context I think they just mean when they feel comfortable to do so individually in their own personal way, they shouldn't have to be forced to rush out and post something just because the media are hungry for the clicks.

Exactly this. It's weird to me how people expect others to rush to social media post full tributes to a loved one when that person has only just died. Not everyone is able to put together something to say straight away while dealing with the shock/grief.

All I take from this is that Hollywood is an absolute cesspit! So far from the glamour I imagined when i was young. Those saying they would have behaved with more integrity have clearly never been around an addict or an addict in a position of power and privilege at that. This whole saga is one sorry mess! MP was in a bad way - first shot of Ket at 8.30 am. He clearly couldn’t master his demons and sadly to me this has an air of inevitability about it.

I know it will never happen but I’d like to know more about the dark side of it all. About how Matthews addiction effected the filming. And remember how tiny all the women were? It was a big deal at the time how thin they got. Would like to know more about those pressures. And, other than Lisa who has been married to her husband since 1995, they all seem to have burnt through relationships.

Maybe because they felt they had to put out a statement a lot sooner than intended because of some impatient people on social media expecting them to say something the second his death was announced. Presumably they will put out a more heartfelt statement when they’ve had time to process it. This was a statement 2 days after his death and was probably written quite quickly. They may still be in shock

People seem to be saying his last ket infusion was a week and a half before his death, which would seem to suggest that it wasn't that ketamine that killed him since it only stays in your system a few hours?

Or more likely, he had a stash of ketamine acquired from non official avenues and used it at home.
