Thank you. I don’t buy that at all. Who on earth could have their child die accidentally, concoct a whole story without alerting the twins or anyone else, go and hide the body where it has never been found, get ready for dinner, go to dinner as normal, be with their friends completely normally just to save their career? They would both have to be complete psychopaths and both in on the deception. By the way - totally get everyone is entitled to their opinion on here so not trying to tell anyone they are wrong. Just my opinion.
Theres some suggestion she might have died on the Sunday. No verified, truely independent sightings of her. There are no positive sightings of the Mccanns as a family of 5, or 4, after the Sunday. And only 5 photos of her?! It initially sounds bonkers, until you delve a little deeper. Something to ponder anyway!

I can’t believe all of their friends on the holiday would help cover that kind of thing up though, especially for so long.
I bet they have all got tit on each other.

I also belive they sedated the kids. So the other families may have done the same.

My husband is a hospital consultant. He may have a “bedside manner” with patients but it is completely different with his own children. Very protective and emotional as any other parent would be. Our children are a little older than the McCanns and it was not the norm to leave young children unattended like that. I still can’t get over how they could be in kids club all day every day of the holiday at such a young age.
We worked hard so holidays were spent with our children. Beach, sandcastles, water parks etc. The enjoyment of being with them. I think they behaved strangely before Maddie went missing and afterwards too.
Oh I agree ,not everyone doctor or not would do what they did ,it was just put as how they could leave them and just switch off ,doctors are good at switching off in certain situations that 's all I meant .I certainly didn't mean all doctors would neglect their kids x

Well like you say we're no experts but they never fitted the bill of a typical grieving parent. And truth be told I think that was their downfall, it's seemed to draw more attention to them, and pointed the finger of suspicion their way 🤷‍♀️
That's so true and it was made even worse by the fact that the kids had been left in their room while they were out.
I'm not saying they deserve the trial by media but I don't think people had the same level of sympathy for them that they had for a lot of other parents. Whenever the McCann's have been mentioned around me over the years it's not long before someone says that it's their own fault for leaving their kids. I think despite all the theories and speculation that's actually the one thing that most agree on.

Thanks for your respectful opinion/ reply.
You’d be surprised what people would do and have done to save their bacon! They would be facing a long jail sentence after all, and lose their other children, basically their lives would be ruined!

Personally I do not believe they killed her or drugged her or any of that. Leaving the kids alone was very very negligent and I think it’s a tragic case, but do believe she was kidnapped and most likely not alive. They have to live with that guilt for the rest of their lives and I’m sure they regret it every second.

@monga apologies if I came across as calling you out. Not my intention at all. 😁

I think it’s hard to grasp that parents could be so blasé when their child has been missing for as long as Madeleine has, especially if you’re a parent yourself and love your children with every fibre of your being. I’d be absolutely bereft. But again, it’s not for me to judge how others grieve. They are an odd couple for sure, the circumstances around the whole thing are very odd.

Surely if their child died their life is ruined anyway? If my child died, not having a career wouldn’t matter one iota. Also, if a child dies accidentally you don’t automatically lose your other children.

Many people over the years who were suspects went on TV or media protesting their innocence tho. The way they speak about Maddie in interviews is cold and mostly about themselves. There's a body language video on YouTube somewhere that shows Gerry gets quite defensive and acts like he's "in charge" of Kate and her answering of questions. There still has been no real evidence of any breakin and I saw on another forum that the window couldn't be opened from.the outside (not sure if it's true) but the whole thing smells off. Before the dogs went to sniff the apartment and car they were known for being very accurate but suddenly since the sniff search are "unreliable".

Something else that bothers me about them, they never really talk about Madeline. In interviews, it's always how hard its been for them, how they felt when it happened, defending themselves, what they need. Justifying everything. We rarely hear concern for Madeline. What she might be going through, how afraid she might be, what she needs. Why is that? Do they know those thoughts are redundant because shes no longer here or are they just that self involved?

What kind of a little girl was she? What was her favourite food? Her favourite programme? Her favourite game? Her favourite song?
It's been the Kate and Gerry show from day 1.
I was just thinking about this a few days ago. We don't actually know much about her at all... I'm always so excited to talk about my son but they haven't really spoken about her at all. I'd love to hear about her.

Had anything come out over the years from friends, previous colleagues or anyone about them being weird or off? Like I have read somewhere on here I’m sure about swinging? And stuff like that. I don’t think I have seen anything from a worthy source, but was just wondering?

I don't believe in the swingers stories personally, think it's a bit ludicrous and a wild rumour as something would've surely slipped? I also doubt the tapas crew knew anything about Maddie either as people talk and things do slip out.

Maybe they didn’t even really know her given she always had a nanny or someone else taking care of her.

That's sad, but a realistic possibility

eta: maybe they were advised not to speak about her? Could information about her preferences and stories about her be used as leverage, perhaps, if she was taken?
They just seem very detached.

I always thought that she looked like a battered woman. Probably because I had a similar look at times. And that he had absolute control over her and everything else - like 'you will wash that toy or I'll throw it away', 'you will go out and see people whilst I am playing tennis', 'you will do x and y'. I even experienced something similar from that ex when I had a baby and refused to leave said baby unattended and go to the pub next door on holiday 'NORMAL families do this, it's closer than if we were down the end of my parents' garden. WHY DO YOU ALWAYS HAVE TO RUIN THINGS' [slam, crash, things get thrown around, etc, etc]. Naturally, after leaving the piece of tit, there was the YOU'RE NEGLECTING MY CHILD AND DON'T DESERVE TO CALL YOURSELF A MOTHER because I took a bin bag all of five foot out of the front door whilst she was in her cot... Anyhow, abusive men do make a point of crossing all boundaries to show their dominance/control. Making somebody cover up for them because 'nobody will ever believe you, I'll tell them that you did it and you'll lose the other kids too' wouldn't be a particularly unusual act.

It wasn't normal then and it wasn't normal 20 years earlier, either. I do remember that I couldn't get sold Phenergan or Piriton liquid for my allergies around this time as I had the baby in the pushchair in the chemist, though. And there were an awful lot of toddlers/preschoolers spark out sleeping in buggies in the school playground of an afternoon...

Maybe in years to come, the younger siblings will have something to say about how they grew up. Teenagers do have that habit of opening their mouths and letting words just fall out, after all.

This is from Wikipedia - same as what the documentary said
Just picking up on this Wiki excerpt which says that Gerry 'carried out the first check on 5A at around 21:05. The children were asleep and all was well, except that he recalled having left the children's bedroom door slightly ajar, and now it stood almost wide open'. I wonder how reliable these 'checks' were. It is possible (e.g. if he didn't turn lights on/enter the room fully) that he might not have noticed that MM was already missing at this point. Then, at 9.30pm, one of the other adults offers to check on the McCann children but, according to reports, 'merely observes all is quiet and makes a cursory glance inside the room seeing the twins in their cot, but not directly seeing Madeleine's bed from the angle at which he stood. Afterwards, he could not say for sure if she had been there or not'. So, in theory, if Gerry's check was not as thorough as he is saying, a potential abductor could have had a whole hour to get away with MM.

Sorry if this has already been mentioned - it probably has at some point!

How do you know this? There is so much on here about how they felt about their daughter, how she was treated etc etc. But where is this info coming from? Loads of people work full time and have childcare does that mean they don’t know their children? Or is there a factual source out there that says this is true?

Do you think her parents will be charged when / If a final verdict is ever made?
