People experience things differently. Maybe they felt they had to remain stoic against all the accusations the press and public were throwing at them. They had two other young children to think about, and that doesn’t take away from the fact that they let Maddie down (or that these other parents of missing/murdered children had similar responsibilities). It’s tricky. We don’t know how they’ve been reacting when out of the media spotlight, only what we see of them in the press. Maybe that’s when they let their actual grief out, people react so differently during times of grief and trauma. I’ll say one positive thing about them though is that they’ve managed to keep the twins out of the spotlight. They do not need to be caught up in the middle of all that.
