Philpot may not have burnt down his house for insurance money if he was richer. But he would have done something horrific because the guy was a ducked up abuser. There was more at play than financial gain when he set fire to that house. He wanted to be a hero, the kids didn't need to be inside did they.

You're joking right? Maybe do some research into the prevalence of wealthier people commuting crimes against their families. As another person has mentioned, look into the GP Harold Shipman.
Do you think rich people don't commit violent crimes and fraud? Have you not heard of white collar crime? Like it or not wealthy, educated individuals commit crime they just don't get caught as often as those from deprived backgrounds.
I agree that socioeconomic background is a huge factor in crime, however I also understand that it is a factor in the way police may investigate a person.
Out of interest, as you seem to be speaking for all of them, are you a criminologist?

I don’t like Gerry and Kate I can’t find any sympathy for them I think Gerry is the mastermind behind the media activities he enjoys it because he’s a smug narcissist. My sympathy lies with the twins having them 2 as parents constantly cashing in on their abandoned sister.
It would be interesting to know the thoughts of the twins and also the children of the rest of the Tapas 9 who were also left.

Prior to watching I thought there was something off about the McCanns but put it down to wanting to protect their livelihoods/reputations/keep the twins. Ie they were covering up that they were crappy parents and left Madeleine in an unlocked apartment.
Now I’m less sure.
From the video I found the statement of Katherina Gaspar and what the actual duck. Regardless of her observations/interpretations, the red flag for me is that if someone does not want to leave their child alone with a man - that needs to be paid attention to, in my opinion.
Also that the men were bathing each other’s children, perhaps it’s a cultural norms thing but I find that strange.

I'm currently reading the statement of David Payne and he seems a bit cagey to me.
There are a lot of errs in his statement and he seems to waffle quite a lot. I've not read all of it yet but so far I don't trust the guy at all.

I find the men doing the bathing and bedtime checks a bit strange. Bathing each others kids a massive red flag.

Agreed. Even an uncle or grandfather I'd be like no it's ok I'll do it. Maybe my dad (although he never would) but only because I know he's not a P.
What sort of man wants to bath other people's kids. And a guy with any sense would know how that looks and so would never offer to do it.

The part that stood out for me (that I had never thought about before) was how weird this routine of checking on their children would be. Like you'd all be up and down every 15 mins or so and surely this would have stood out as odd to the waiting staff etc? I infer from this they weren't checking anywhere near as frequently as they said.
In what way have they been given an easy ride? Genuinely, because for the life of me I can't see it. The Portuguese police could have pursued child neglect charges if they wanted but, for whatever reason, chose not to. Possibly because they were more intent with pursuing them for manslaughter/abduction.
Katherina Gaspar’s statement is unnerving. It takes a lot of courage to come forward about someone in your social circle in that way.

I think the media for starters would have been much more critical of them if the were working class. Likewise I’m not sure the British Police would have pursued the case for so long.
May I ask why you are so defensive of them? I don’t think anybody is saying that they haven’t suffered - just that in all likelihood Madeline would never have gone missing had they not left her alone in the apartment while they went out to socialise. Therefore they must shoulder the ultimate blame for her abduction.
