It proves that they weren’t remorseful and they felt they didn’t do anything wrong
New to this thread but I just want to say, I stayed in the same Resort as the McCanns the year before Maddie’s disappearance. What they did was not like eating in your garden. The Tapas bar was much further away from the apartment than a garden would be from a house.
I don‘t know what their state of mind was or is or whether they are truly remorseful for what they did. Only they will ever really know that. However I do know that if they’d been a working class family, staying in a downmarket resort they‘d have got a shed load more flak for what they did and possibly even faced charges for child neglect.
They have paid a huge price for their decision but nowhere near as big a price as that paid by their three year old daughter. I don’t hate them but I will admit I find it hard to be sympathetic towards them.

I can’t stand the McCanns. Anyone who leaves their three little kids in an apartment alone while they duck off to dinner is a terribly irresponsible and neglectful parent. If they’d been lower class rather than doctors the level of sympathy towards them would have been far far lower.
I’ll probably get flamed for saying this but ultimately it’s all their fault. As a parent you protect and take care of your kids! Every time I see their simpering faces on tv I want to smack one of them. They may have paid the ultimate price but their little daughter paid the ultimate price because of their selfishness.

You can skip to around 41 mins and see their remorse or lack thereof. Let's just accept, no guilt or remorse was shown until she wanted to sell a book.
Gerry even goes on to acknowledge that Maddie cried and asked why they didn't come to her the night before. And then they thought it was fine to ditch her again the night she went missing.
This is what he had to say about the book:

It's also unacceptable and a sad fact that their actions led to her being taken but he doesn't ever say this does he? Didn't they give up on her when they acknowledged that she felt unsafe yet left her anyway?
Kate is a GP, she would know about neglect, child protection, safe guarding. Part of her job is looking out for abuse and neglect.
Yet we're supposed to believe she thought it was completely acceptable to leave her three preschoolers in an unlocked apartment, in a foreign country, positioned between a public road and a swimming pool, then duck off to dinner out of sight and earshot - while telling the 3 year old to come find us.

Until, I would be surprised to find out, someone with slightly more PR savvy advised dialling that back a tad.

41 mins is some large bloke picking apart their interviews but the minutes before show really lovely home video footage of a happy, loving family.
Ok. I don't see it as bullish. I see it as their justification for making the decision they made. She felt it was no different to eating dinner in your garden on a summer's evening. You disagree of course but, in the moment, that's what it felt like to her.

I never said any of that about the photo. You've really read between the lines there. I said an adult had done her make up. I said it was werid to take a photo of your child crying and upset and I said it looks like someone is gripping the back of her neck.

They did leave a sick child. The child's father went to their apartment for "25 minutes" because the child had been sick. He then went back to the restaurant. All of the children were left alone at some point that night. Even the sick one.
You can make excuses for them all day long. But even "It's just like dining in your garden" doesn't wash. We used to dine in our garden in the summer, after our child was in bed. But we didn't leave our front door unlocked, and we closed any windows that weren't visible from our back garden. Not so much to protect him from abductors, but to stop him from getting out by himself. It's common sense. Something that was seemingly in very short supply amongst a group of so-called "professionals".
If you bothered to watch it instead of being insulting about someone's appearance, you'd see it's actually the mccanns trying to justify their actions and Kate is being very bullish at 41.50 in my opinion. Anyway I see there's no point getting into any type of debate or sharing other opinions/insights with you.
I've watched it. I don't see bullishness. Happy? I see parents answering a journalist's question
When she says about the distance 41.4 on Google if you want to be really specific, she just comes across as arrogant and bullish, which is how I believe they've acted since the beginning. They truly believe that they did nothing wrong and it doesn't sit well with me.

No evidence to suggest what? The abuse ring? Yes I know that. Stop going on about the remorse thing. I believe they are remorseful, I believe they have shown this and you do not.
That’s what I still can’t get my head around. An abduction would have been at bottom of a long list of things that could go wrong. Also the fact that she’d cried the previous night and they still felt ok to leave her blows my mind.
I hate conspiracy theories but, when they’ve happily admitted and tried to normalise such insanely poor (IMO) parenting from the start, it makes it easier to believe them.

Her grandparents had left their front door unlocked - because they felt they lived in a safe comminity. They were asleep in the house when she was taken.
I got into argument on Twitter when someone suggested that this was the same as the McCanns!!! I thought there's a world of difference between being asleep in your bed and having a booze up in a restrurant!!! I also felt that the wee girls grandparents might not be happy to be associated with the McCanns.
And, yes there were undertones in the trial that they were somehow at fault because they hadn't locked their door.
So I've never understood how the McCanns got a free pass on quite obvious neglect.

Here's some fine examples of really remorseful parents.
There isn't one of grieving Gerry playing tennis a few days after she went missing (which Mark Warner staff confirmed happened) , but I'm sure he looked as upset as he does here.
The ones of them doing their sad faces are only found when doing press shoots, and not when they're papped, but I'm sure there's no coincidence there
