LUCY, once and for all: you decide what to post. You don't have to put yourself through things that are detrimental to your mental health for the sake of content.
Take a clue from Lucy Wood who used to do these Average Girl Tries videos but then realised they were not good for her mental well-being and stopped.

And lastly, is she sure these pants are actually in the correct size? They don't look comfortable to wear.

Yes, in a heatwave I always reach for my big leather boots and many layers. Or my jeans and mohair cardigan  I've been living in cotton dresses for the last couple of weeks, I can't imagine how uncomfortable some of these outfits would be.

ETA I'm also interested to know if Lucy has considered if the Yin and Yang bag is cultural appropriation...

some of the outfits in her latest video... oh no. I don’t understand the choices she made with the cycling shorts, they did not suit any of the outfits? The knitted vest over a long sleeved shirt? For summer? With those cycling shorts? I’m baffled.
Strange because she has a lovely figure, looked great in the white dress, great in the green shirt/crop top looks. I can sympathise if she struggles with her body and therefore finds trying new things with clothes tricky, I’ve definitely gone through phases like that and it is hard to get out of a rut with clothes then so I commend her for doing it and putting it online.
However, for someone who says they’re into fashion and style that video made me think ‘where?’, came across as very much trying to shoehorn every trend in and not looking at the bigger picture of the outfit - unless I’m just completely out of touch with how people dress now after being inside for so long 😂 or maybe this is how people dress in London and a northern pleb like myself wouldn’t get it 🤣🤣

These shoes are just so ugly, I like a chunky boot, a really do but! They're not meant for the summer. They're transistion season/mild winter's day shoe. You can actually get cute boots for the summer. How stinky must your feet be after you've worn them out and about for a few hours?

However, for someone who says they’re into fashion and style that video made me think ‘where?’, came across as very much trying to shoehorn every trend in and not looking at the bigger picture of the outfit - unless I’m just completely out of touch with how people dress now after being inside for so long 😂 or maybe this is how people dress in London and a northern pleb like myself wouldn’t get it 🤣🤣
She always makes it sound like she's this quirky artiste super alternative-dressed woman when she talks about clothes buy then when she shows the outfits, they're very basic and very much following the current trends. She also always explains almost on a philosophical level why she chose certain garment and why she decided to put it in an outfit with another, carefully selected 😅 item of clothing. She tries to add more meaning to her fashion choices than it's necessary. They're just clothes at the end of the day. I think she's kind of immature that way, like she's stuck back in her uni days where people try to express themselves through clothing more than during other stages of life. When you get a little older, you find your style and also start worrying more whether it's practical and suitable for occasion and stop thinking of philosophical meaning of buying a plain white tee.

Northern pleb here too and I don't understand a lot of the things in that video. If it's representative of what's 'in' then I'm officially old and don't get fashion. The shorts and green top looked lovely on her and it's a season appropriate outfit.

I don't understand the trend of wearing trousers/ jeans that look too short and having your ankle socks on show. Is this how people wear jeans now?

I know clothes shouldn't just be about looking 'flattering' and that can be quite problematic but some of these choices are really odd and look like they don't fit properly.

I live in a university town and there are lots of girls wearing these cropped wide leg pants (I wore the look back when I was, hmm, I think 13-18?), not all these girls are tall and slim, so I see the look on a variety of bodies and styled a million different ways. Some would wear it with a baggy jumper, some with a tiny crop top. I think where I live, it kind of replaced the skinny jeans/black leggings + university hoodie look, if you know what I mean? I think it's quite cool on young girls. First because they're trying to find their style and don't have to get it 100% right every time. Expressing yourself and being experimental are so important when you're trying to find your place in the world. Second, I like it when young women don't think they have to wear skin tight clothes a la the Kardashians to look and feel cool, to feel empowered. I really like the whole modesty trend, just as long as it doesn't swamp the person. I see girls with super hairy legs and I see girls with buzz cuts. It's nice that there isn't one mould for everyone. So many of these looks I wouldn't pull off and wouldn't even try to but it's nice seeing young people on that self exploration journey.
But! When you are a little older (fair enough Lucy is only in her mid 20s, but strangely sometimes she dresses very old for her age and sometimes very young) and try to sell a lifestyle online, a little self-reflection would be appreciated it, especially when you have a slightly problematic figure to dress. Don't get me wrong, I am not saying she should be always adhering to the conventional wisdom of how to dress a pear-shaped body, it's nice to try things and mix it up but - AND I AM SORRY TO SAY THIS - sometimes she just looks like a clown, like a caricature of a a younger influencer.
It's a bit like with Anna from the Anna Edit, who, pregnant or not, has a cracking figure and amazing legs, yet insist on wearing brown sacks; same with Lily Pebbles who is also tall with nice legs, yet wears awful tracksuit bottoms that make her look shorter and chubbier or dresses that look like tents. They also look like caricatures but think they're cool and edgy.

I absolutely hate this dad sneaker trend. Those white sneakers truly just remind me of being teased in primary school for not having “cool” expensive shoes. Taste is subjective etc but I can’t think of anyone who could actually pull them off? I mean, other than Jerry Seinfeld?

Oh my goodness, she's so wrong about so many things.
The green shirt she wears over a crop top. It's not cool. This is what grannies on the continent wear to the church on Sunday. NOT A GOOD LOOK on them, not a good look on young woman such as Lucy.
The Yin and Yang bag "so contemporary and so now"? No darling. Looks like something from late 90s/early 00s that you found at the back of your mum's wardrobe. It was there are the back for a reason.
Nineties pastiche? Well, at least she's aware.
Also, she has such nice legs, why hide them under those wide leg pants. Those jeans that she choses make her look matronly, and not cool.
The blue top is not really a camisole, is it?
I don't hate the cycling shorts worn like this but I think a slightly longer length would be so much better on her. Mid-thigh or a length that cuts off right before the knee. Would make the silhouette look more proportionate.
Also, when worn like this, whether you trying not to look there, somehow your eye is drawn to the crotch area. Can't be helped.
Untitled.png

Or maybe it's the visible stitching lines that make it look like a utility short, to be worn underneath things, and not a fashion short.
Untitled1.png

And this too me is what women of certain age wear on foreign holidays thinking they look casual, bohemian, cool. They don't. They look basic. But it's OK on holidays. It's good to feel comfortable and be protected from the sun.

OK this looks like she forgot to wear something on the bottom half.

Has anyone watched the new video? I got through 2 minutes and read some comments andd then couldn't be bothered going further. From the comments it seems like she's responding to nosy people asking if she's going to get married/have a kid and discussing the general creepiness of para-social relationships with influencers?
I do have a solution to this, but it involves her stopping being an influencer, so she might not be keen.

She’s lucky she started YouTube when she did, the only reason she has followers now is because a lot of people just stuck around. She has no USP, there’s nothing specific about her.

She's so vapid.
It's the way she seems to think that she's the first person to have noticed all these social justice issues and think she is so woke but just makes it clearer that she's grown up incredibly privileged and sheltered from the rest of the world.

She has 0 clue about the real world she just regurgitates what she learnt as SOAS and what she reads on Twitter.

She lives such an insular life. It really frustrates me when she talks about being a "socialist" but hasn't done anything practical to help the community she's in. She literally just moves around "trendy" East London gentrifying any corner she can find. Like, how can you talk about the housing crisis, homelessness, and unaffordable housing when you've moved from a posh town in Kent to an area in London that's been built on the work of migrants and the working-class so you can have a 'gluten-free' (?) latte on Broadway Market. lol

That outfit was £572

Also - she says 'green feels like such a me colour - so earthy and natural' :ROFLMAO: I reckon the cows whose leather made your bag and boots would disagree, Lucy.

Spot the 'gifted' tag  That product's nearly £100 to buy.
