What a ludicrous comment from someone who is supposed to be highly educated.
So when Lucy is not on shift, the nurses are missing tube dislodgements on 39% of their shifts? And those babies aren’t collapsing or dying? What in the statistics is that?

You wonder how anybody could be so cruel. Attacking the second twin just after the first, trying to put a living baby in a cold cot, dressing and photograhing babies she'd just killed, with Baby I, she even photographed her sympathy card in the place where she'd been murdered!

I think the parent's testimonies are showing just how powerful maternal instinct is. Baby B was not safe in that NNU and her mother knew it, that's why she couldn't sleep and was ringing every two hours. Babies C and D's mothers couldn't accept the hospital's version of events because they knew there was something badly wrong.

Ugh, my stomach dropped reading about tubes being dislodged while she was at Liverpool. I knew it would probably come out that there were unexplained incidents during her time there, but it makes you wonder just how many babies she attempted to hurt and kill. I feel sick. I genuinely think it is very likely she went into this profession in order to have the opportunity to get access to vulnerable babies. Rather than her developing these behaviours after she decided to go in for it. I wonder if she's been like this all her life.

40% compared to 1% of dislodged tubes, how was that not a red flag to senior nurses over seeing her training. The devil was failed to be stopped at every single point by so many!

So Richard Gill has got a base figure to work with - less than 1%. I wonder if he can tell us the probability that it wasn't Letby dislodging tubes? Perhaps she's yet again just very unlucky?

I've been dipping in and out of the thread for a few weeks, and not commenting, as you all articulate your thoughts and feelings much better than I can...so thank you!
But, I have to say...we're only at the start of the inquiry, and I'm shocked, so shocked that she was allowed to do what she did for so long.
" They" clearly fed her sick, depraved mind with their actions or lack of, she must have been bloody loving it!
Even the NMC, who, fair enough, it would appear weren't given all the facts at the start, but I've seen first hand, over the years, colleagues referred for many different reasons and they've had the floor wiped with them by the NMC , before any hearings or evidence took place...it's all so bizarre
I'm not even going to comment on those who feel she's NG, other than to say, they're all sick too!
Hearing and reading all that's come out so far is somehow so much more shocking and upsetting than I expected it to be.
And, as always, my thoughts are with the parents and families of the precious babies😪

I presumed that the baby’s families would have been fully informed of what had happened to at least their child before the trial. To sit there in court, being looked at by all those people and their baby’s attacker, and hear all that for the first time must have been horrific.

Hopefully we hear a lot more detail like this that was absent from the first trial. It’s very similar to the sentiments expressed by all those unfortunate enough to work alongside evil

Want to say that the coverage has been amazing so far but that will probably jinx it won’t it 😬

Baby E&F’s mum has retrained to be a bereavement counsellor 😭

and glad she’s hit out at staff using mobiles on their shifts and discussing babies.

I know we all said it as we followed the trial that she had harmed before Baby A, but hearing about the incidents at LWH just show that she had started long before. I hope to god she wasn’t left alone with any patient at Alder Hay when she was swanning about there after Drnoname.
Do we think the police will comment on operation hummingbird during the enquiry, as they have been investigating for a few years now. They didn’t say if there was any deaths at LWH though.
I really hope the sick bitch isn’t being allowed out of her cell and given special privileges to listen to this , I can see her getting off on it all.

It was mentioned by one of the KCs last week during the thirwell Inquiry that the families felt they had been dehumanised due to their anonymity. This is very true.

I’ve probably said these things before during the trial but as others have said, there’s so much that’s striking when you are reminded. The fact that she hoarded the handovers as a student is very telling imo. Even if she just became complacent and sloppy about disposing of the sheets later in her career (unlikely 😅), as a student you have things like confidentiality drummed into you and you stick to the rules. When I was training a point was regularly made that you would come across experienced/older staff who had let their practice slip (this was before mandatory revalidation) and that it was very much your place to take current practice into the job and be assertive in promoting that. She obviously didn’t think the rules (and the LAW ffs!) should apply to her! She really went into this for her own nefarious purposes and not to be a conscientious student or good nurse.
Other things that are jumping out at me are from the CS2CR video talking about the notes. To me, she has written down buzzwords that she will use if/when accused- to make people wary of accusations of bullying and to show HR that she will not go quietly. It wasn’t an outpouring of feelings, it was strategy. It’s all about controlling the narrative and manipulating those around her. The tea party is another example of this, I’m paraphrasing but when someone said she was sulking and they thought she was going to be difficult on her return- controlling bully.

Some of the language is starting to really, really annoy me.

Like 'a host' of experts. No - a few lone voices is not a host.

'A growing concern' - nope, nothing growing. Just the same few ill-informed, so-called experts chuntering on and having their words regurgitated in the clickbait press.

Nothing to grow. Nowhere for it to go to. I'm waiting for the 'free Lucy Letby' petition or whatever. It's like people in the social media age think you can put 'pressure' on a conviction. They can all fuck off tbh. Time will sort them out.

I don't think we can quote that statistic enough. How was she not stopped so, so long ago? She's been torturing babies for so long hasn't she? Evil, evil bitch. Surely there has to be corporate manslaughter charges off the back of this. Empty apologies will never be enough.

If she’s only appealing this one conviction can they try throw some stuff in to get the others thrown out too? I’m thinking no but the stats stuff doesn’t really help her on 1 charge does it? They’re arguing it’s when you have them all together that the stats are wrong?

In a way, I hope whatever argument they present for the appeal that includes some of this shite that is being peddled that when it gets refused, the appeal document will VERY clearly say that this “evidence” makes no difference whatsoever…it might shut some of the deniers up
The stats stuff doesn't help Lucy on any of the charges. That's why Ben Myers didn't use it. All the stats say is she was the only one who could have done it.
