Sarah Knapton at it again 🙄 do they know how ridiculous they all sound when no evidence has even been presented? How can they question and dismiss evidence that’s not even been made public yet. Are they that desperate?

BIB - that is the whole point of it being raised in the inquiry, if they bothered to read the transcript. But bothering to read things doesn’t seem to be their priority

However, neonatologists and statisticians have written to Lady Justice Thirlwall questioning the data.

In a letter seen by The Telegraph, the experts write: “We do not find the assertion credible and are writing to express our deep concerns over the figures presented to the Thirlwall Inquiry with regards to extubation rates. “The apparent careless presentation of unsubstantiated and uncorroborated figures is likely to create unnecessary distress and harm, and generate additional worry, for example, among parents of babies who were treated at Liverpool Women’s Hospital.

“If data quoted is subsequently shown to be robust, reliable and accurate, we question why such a drastic increase went unnoticed and unaddressed for nearly a decade?

“The failure to raise this issue would in that case raise important questions and have profound implications for Liverpool Women’s Hospital (LW
H).”

Signatories to the letter include Dr Neil Aiton, a consultant neonatologist and lecturer at Brighton and Sussex Medical School, and Dr Svilena Dimitrova, consultant neonatologist and specialist adviser for the Care Quality Commission (CQC), as well as a medical reviewer for the review of maternity services at the Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust.

While the inquiry heard that tubes were dislodged on 40 per cent of Letby’s shifts, other scientists [on Twitter - this is the one I posted the other day] have pointed out that there is extensive scientific literature suggesting that breathing tubes can become dislodged in newborns between one per cent and 80 per cent of the time.

Lucy Easthope, professor in practice of risk and hazard at the University of Durham, also warned that there was a national product recall of breathing tubes for newborns in 2012.

Writing on X, she said: “Is it correct to say that there was an inexplicable rise in dislodged neonatal endotracheal tubes in the year that we saw national major product recall in neonatal endotracheal tubes?

“I expect the inquiry will cover this MHRA alert tomorrow.” [no they wont. Because if you bothered to read you would know it’s the parents giving evidence the next two weeks]

---

However, a paper by Newcastle University in 2016 found that dislodged breathing tubes were common in premature babies – happening an average of six times for infants born at 25 weeks and under, and two times for preterm babies above 25 weeks gestation.

Conflating occurrences per baby with shifts again.

Fag packet maths. Correct me if I’ve missed anything.

A 25 week baby is in hospital on average 107 days.
shifts are 12hrs - baby sees 2 shifts per day
107 days x 2 shifts = 214 shifts per stay.
Six dislodged tubes in 214 shifts = 2.8% rate of occurrence. Far closer to 1% than 40% ffs!
JFC they are so fucking stupid. These reckless self-appointed "experts" who haven't read a thing, know nothing about the case, and don't understand the first thing about the legal system yet can't wait to puff their egos up by publicly bloviating about slaughtered babies wind me up so, so much.

They piss me off far more than Lucifer's mentally ill male layperson fans, because these individuals are supposed to be educated. They are supposed to be the ones with measured opinions, and to be insightful enough to have an idea of what they don't know. They seem to think because they are experts in one area, they are universal experts in all areas, and entitled to give their (entirely incorrect) opinions on legal processes etc.

It's just a brief opening statement and they're already acting scandalised that the evidence that hasn't been heard... hasn't been heard! And that if it's true, why did it go unnoticed? Yes, that's what they're trying to find out, you dumbfucks.

They're automatically trying to dispute it simply because it makes precious Lucy look bad.

It says one hell of a lot that her fan club of self-described "experts" were so desperate to prevent this whole inquiry. If they really thought she was innocent they should welcome any light on the situation, but instead they've railed against not only the entire inquiry but every new bit of evidence coming out that makes Letby look like the nasty, evil cunt she is.

I think it also says one hell of a lot that none of the staff who facilitated Letby are crying that nothing at all happened and it was all a miscarriage of justice. Some of these people might even ultimately face jail, and yet it's not for one second crossing their lips that the verdicts are supposedly disputed. Aside from the Letbys and her defense, nobody has a greater personal motive for needing Letby to be innocent. It would save their arses entirely. And yet, they're not even going there.

Can anyone give me a short breakdown of why there seems to be a lot of pro Lucy Letby posts and articles lately? People keep talking now like there is a lot of doubt and as if she's been locked up unfairly. Is this just nonsense or did something come out that made people question things?
I was just listening to the murder sheet podcast and they discussed that from a journalist perspective, it’s just more interesting. It’s more interesting and sort of entertainment to question is this a miscarriage of a justice. Especially so soon after the post office and andrew malkinson cases.

There was an article in the New Yorker that a lot of doubters refer to however it’s littered with misconstrued evidence and leaves out other important evidence. But people have clung on to it.

There was also (quite rightly) media restrictions until the conclusion of the retrial which is only two months ago so none of these views could be reported in the UK until then so I think it’s why there seems to be so many at once.

The public inquiry starts tomorrow so it’s also topical, especially since some people have been trying to get it postponed or the terms of reference changed.

You have some ‘experts’ weighing in but even they have had to admit they haven’t even read full court documents or followed the trial. Even those that have, haven’t had access to the thousands of pages of medical records.

You then get the people who just lack any trust in the ‘establishment’ and think this is some huge conspiracy against a young, ‘pretty’, blonde, white nurse by nhs management, police, the justice system.

Add ALL of that to social media and it’s like a perfect storm. If I put aside my anger I’m actually quite fascinated in the psychology behind it all.

Remember the mother that spoke to the papers that had photos Letby had taken but then it dawned on her that she had taken out the baby’s breathing tubes to take the photograph??
---
Also.. did people notice this? Did we know there is a baby U 😨 and if the surviving triplet is baby R then is there a baby S and a baby T 😣

It’s awful but it upsets the Truther ghouls because they like to claim the parents only have their accounts because the police told them everything and who was suspected etc.
It well established that the Police took statements from certain parties, including parents, before Letby was named specifically to avoid the possibility of the defence crying "foul".
---
I haven't been here for some time but the lack of understanding, in particular by X users, about the police and legal process and hoops they have to jump though not to compromise evidence is frustrating. The sheer volume of false assumptions and accusations of wrong doing that are so basic, the evidence would have been inadmissible, is scary. Most just make it up as they go along as it feeds into their fantasies of an "us and them" society where they are the downtrodden intellectuals fighting the good fight against the v some organised evil that rules them. It doesn't fit the narrative that some of the cruellest evil walks amongst us and wears many disguises, often posing as the most caring and altruistic and smiles and nods at the right times.
---
I'll also place a wager that he will read this and be unable to resist posting about it on X and doubling down on his efforts or making some unpleasant remark about me, rather than reflecting on the foolishness of this particular crusade..

It doesn't paint a picture that Lucy was scapegoat to protect a failing unit. More that they want to sweep the whole thing under the carpet and pretend it never happened.

Wow, the pathologist did not see baby D’s X-Ray that would have shown all the air including air at the site of the IV line in her case 😞

December 22, 2016, Letby and her parents met with Mr Chambers, Mr Harvey, Ms Kelly, Ms Rees the Head of Urgent Care Nursing and Ms Hodkinson, the Director of People and Organisational Development. At the start of the meeting, Letby’s mother read out a statement. There followed a discussion of the concerns which had been raised.

Her mother read out a statement, how fecking weird is that, a grown woman taking her parents to a work disciplinary!

Letby attended Alder Hey for a number of supervised visits (outpatient, clinics, ward rounds, team meetings).
A doctor there says “to my knowledge [Letby] had no unsupervised patient contact.”
It would not be until June 3, 2017 that Letby was told by the Hospital that she could no longer go to Alder Hey.

To his knowledge Letby didn’t have patient contact, Letby could swan about wherever she wanted by the sound of things, including going back to unit she was suspended from. how the hell wasn’t she stoped.

I've just finished listening. Got chin muscles like Letby after all the jaw drops! As if they chose a pharmacist who had beef with one of the consultants to investigate the grievance! WTF!!

Ian Harvey has a selective memory doesn't he?
Can't wait for the oral evidence and watching them all sweat as they scramble to save their own sorry arses and chuck each other under Letby's juggernaut bus. It's so clear already who's lying through their teeth.

Also big up to Rachel Langdale KC who put in an absolute shift today 😘

ETA.. did I also hear a Miss Slingo mentioned? Interesting name 👀👀👀

Letby is going try and appeal her conviction for the attempted murder of baby K. Judges will consider the case at a hearing on 24th October.

Maybe this can be a good thing. Another rejection by another set of 3 judges (or will they likely be the same?) another published court of appeal judgement.

It seems pretty pointless though because even if she was granted an opportunity to appeal, even if another jury found her NG or her conviction was overturned by the judges, she still has 14 WLO.

This is just her playing games and/or maybe her legal teams are going to try and test some of the legal fairytales doubts

This is dark but I'm really stuck on the thought of what the hell she was doing to Baby K today.

Because I was thinking about it, and she'd dislodged the tube and was watching the baby desaturate and basically struggle to breathe and die right in front of her. We don't know what she'd have done next if Dr Jayaram hadn't intervened. We don't know if it was a murder attempt or just evil control that she'd have put right. She wasn't calling for help and had even silenced the alarm, but I also think it would have looked far too suspicious if they got back to find baby had passed in her care, so would she have stepped in and righted the tube after a few more seconds? And honestly it made me wonder how many more times she's done something to interfere with a baby and watch it suffer for a little while. Nobody will ever know. It's knocked me sick thinking about it and I now feel desperately sorry for any parent who ever had a baby in that unit, even if there was never any evidence their baby came to harm and they went home with healthy babies. Even Hummingbird aside, there could be totally unknown victims. Sorry, I know this is extremely horrible.
Dewi Evans said when he reviewed other baby's notes there was a very lot of dislodged breathing tubes, far more than would be expected.

This case is very dark. People are taken in by pictures of the smiling young nurse with teddies on her bed. They don't think she would fill syringes with air and then violently ram it down feeding tubes, knowing full well it's likely to kill the baby and devastated the parents. Or deliberately cause a bleed in a baby with known clotting problems. The cruelty in these cases is overwhelming.

Oh my word. So I remember baby Js parents complaining about finding her all soiled but this seems to suggest that they have only recently learned it was Supernurse her self that was her designated nurse that shift. I think she honestly would do anything to help a baby get sick. She’d know that would be a huge infection risk. After reading Mother H’s evidence today too, it’s another time E Powell dismissed a parent’s complaint.

40% compared to 1% of dislodged tubes, how was that not a red flag to senior nurses over seeing her training. The devil was failed to be stopped at every single point by so many!

Letby claimed she'd been 'exonerated' in email to staffpublished at 16:11 British Summer Time
16:11 BST

Ms Langdale is discussing the grievance Letby brought after concerns were raised about her.

In January 2017, she says Letby emailed all staff on the neonatal unit stating: “I was redeployed from the unit in July 2016 following serious and distressing allegations of a personal and professional nature made by some members of the medical team.

“After a thorough investigation it was established that all the allegations were unfounded and untrue and I have therefore been fully exonerated.

"I have received a full apology from the trust... I will begin making my return to the unit in the coming weeks.”

Hospital management were aware of the email, the inquiry hears.

However, Ms Langdale says: “The inquiry has not seen any evidence to suggest that anyone at the hospital responded to Letby’s email to correct her and to clarify that she had in fact not been investigated at all, let alone exonerated.”

So much is coming out that counters the pro-Letby shit.

They claim none of the parents had a bad word to say about her, yet at this early stage we already have Baby C's grandmother making a complaint about her, Baby D's mum saying Letby made her uneasy and was just standing there looking at her while doing nothing, and Baby G's mum saying she didn't like her as she was miserable looking, didn't appear to enjoy her job and G's mum thought she wasn't very good at her job.

They also say all her nursey friends loved her, yet we have evidence of Lucy giving two of them the silent treatment (at a party to honour her!) to the point they were worried she was going to make their lives hard.

There's also the tube dislodging on 40% of her shifts that has caused her fans to thrash and seethe.

But there are still so many lies. It's overwhelming and frightening the amount of pro-Letby fairytales in the media that it feels like organised, well-funded propaganda. My friend has said that it's partially coming from the American right-wing, to attack socialised healthcare as dangerous, portraying the NHS as somewhere where patients are at constant risk of death, and staff of false accusations to cover it all up.

Damien Harry assisted with that awful Channel 5 propaganda, and he's posted on twitter that they're doing a sequel and seeking more mud-slinging from him and his cronies.

Absolute flabbergasted about how clear the local guidance was for sudden unexpected death of children even in hospital. It was absolutely obvious what they should have done 😣
