I actually don't think it is such a massive reach although it's not that black and white. I obviously don't think anyone who gets a birthday card from their cat/dog is a budding serial killer, or really is anything beyond an animal lover, but I do think that valuing animal life as equal to or above human life is a bit of a red flag. Hitler, for instance, was a notorious animal lover.
Obviously loads of psychopaths are/were notoriously cruel to animals, but many weren't and put a far higher value on their animal's lives than their human victim's lives. Myra Hindley was one - devastated when her dog Puppet died in police custody. IMO it's because animals (particularly dogs) adore you without question, and that's very appealing to a malignant narcissist. They can't relate to actual human beings so they relate to animals instead.
I am NOT saying all animal lovers are psychopaths - I love animals myself - but I do think if you have someone who starts viewing animals as of higher value than humans then something has gone wrong in their psyche.
I know right. I always get a card from my cats lol and I send them too! Ive been following this thread and I find it so odd how people will pick out innocuous things like cards from cats and having cute bear patterned diaries as ‘evil’ and ‘tell tale signs of a weirdo’ - almost as if they’re enjoying psychoanalysing her and other serial killers like it’s a TV show. These things don’t inherently make you a weird person, can we just focus on her actual charged crimes please 🥲
to be fair to the OP, that’s a completely different point. all of what you say is true….. but is about ll’s potential feelings towards her animals and having them dependent on her etc. not her mum sending her a birthday card “from the cats” like a lot of people do for family members with pets.
I think it's fair enough, it's all part of the make up. People will speculate, it's natural.
This poster has already apologised multiple times and it is clear they didn’t mean to cause upset or offence. The conversation has moved on, why rehash it?

I’m sorry but I also think this is an incredible reach. You can value all sentient beings on earth as equal, and it doesn’t mean you’re a psychopathic evil murderer. People who choose to not have children would value their beloved pets over a child - this doesn’t mean something has gone wrong in their psyche. The two aren’t mutually exclusive. You can think ALL living beings are equal but still NOT be an evil murderer lol.
Probably to make a path through the traffic in a built up area, the faster it’s moving the less chance people have to throw things at it or bang on the sides.

i know we know so little about her as a person (i don’t really want to know more tbh) that it’s understandable that people are grabbing onto minor details as evidence of a psychotic nature but, come on. some people get cards from pets. some people like those live laugh love signs. some people are single for a really long time. having so many innocent details used as evidence of her nature is just people trying to flex their psychology skills at this point.
equally though it must be so annoying for the regulars who have been here discussing the absolute finest details for months to have this thread overrun with so many “newbies” going over the same stuff they discussed ages ago. sorry guys.
I don’t necessarily agree regarding the valuing of animals over humans being a red flag. For most people sure but there are lots of people who only have their animal in their life, or their animal is their comfort and survival tool. I think when you have a pet they very much become part of your family in a lot of cases, so would somebody value them over a stranger, possibly…
Yes, but would you value your beloved pet over someone else's child in a life or death situation? I would certainly hope not. If the answer to that question is yes then sorry but I think that is hugely ducked up.

For me it's an enormous, enormous red flag. I don't mean on an individual level - like, if my cat dies at the same time as someone else's grandmother who I don't know dies, I'm clearly going to be much sadder about my cat. But if I had my cat and a human being (who obviously wasn't Lucy Letby or someone similar!) in a life or death situation, I would value the life of that human being over the life of my cat. It's ducked that anyone would do otherwise really.

Absolutely agree. Someone who has a pet they adore is obviously going to value that pet over a person they have no attachment to.
