It might be because he pleaded guilty so never had a trial, just the sentencing hearing. I suppose it’s the right thing to do because it’s probably unfair for someone to have a mug shot made public if they then go on to be found not guilty.

I have a question about the insulin. I know what insulin does, but why would a neonate need it ? What would make them hyperglycaemic to possibly need it ? I guess I was just wondering why they had it and used it on a NICU. I'm genuinely curious as to the answer
Whoever wrote the ‘Wiki’ well done! Just spent ages reading all of it and it’s an excellent account of the case so far. I realise now that I hardly knew anything about this case. Only what I’ve read in the press.
Every day I’ve being going from guilty to not guilty but after reading all that I’m convinced she is guilty. (I will probably change my mind over and over again in the coming months after hearing more evidence). I have so so many questions! Here’s a few I will put out their:
* Who is the doctor she keeps text messaging and FB messaging (In work and after work)? Will he be called to give evidence? Was he suspicious?
* 100mls of air aspirated from a neonatal NG tube? How is that possible?
* The baby on TPN? Did he die the same day as the baby who was on the insulin infusion that morning? I wonder if she took the insulin syringe from that child instead of discarding it? Then tampered with the TPN bag.
*Where and what the hell was management doing while this was all going on? How about the whole team? Nurse love to gossip-so surly this was being talked about non stop on the unit. Even if they didn’t think of her as a murderer they would be thinking she is the most incompetent nurse ever!
*She doesn’t have a good memory when it comes to her patients who have died does she? Despite keeping a diary and knowing their names to enable her to search for their parents on FB ( one child she searched their name once a month for 6 months!) They were her patients and she would have had to provide bereavement care for them and their families. She would have helped wash and dress them, took hand and foot casts, cut a lock of hair, families photos and take the poor babies to the mortuary with their families. You do not forget those experiences. Ever!! They stay with you for such a longtime.
My heart goes out to all the families involved with this case. I can’t even imagine what they are going through.

I’d assume they have issues with regulating their insulin levels if their pancreas isn’t up to scratch - insulin can be given alongside glucose in a sliding scale to maintain a healthy blood sugar if a persons body isn’t doing it for them.
When people are shocked or scared they can also show no emotion whatsoever. People may assume its because they are indifferent when it couldn't be further from the truth. I guess only time will tell what her lack of emotion means.
Those asking about her hair etc. I saw this photo in the press, taken whilst she had been bailed and gone back to her parent's house. Bearing in mind as well, the photo used most frequently when she's holding a baby and baby grow, was several years ago when she was featured in the hospital magazine. Also, many of the photos the press have presumably taken from her social media accounts could be from years ago, who knows.

So important to share these stories while this is going on. Whether Letby is guilty or not, so many babies (and their mothers) die needlessly due to inadequate and incompetent care/guidelines. It's unforgivable. Lets hope the government finally gets on it while the anguish over distressed, injured and dying babies is still fresh in their minds. I know it's rough to say it in that way, but it's true. People need to know the reality of what these failings do to babies, mothers, and the families.I'll just leave this here

Prisoners can definitely dye their hair, I believe Karen Matthews did. They can also get tweezers and such, makeup, etc.
Exactly this. You get life if you plead guilty or plead not guilty but are found guilty. A Very high percentage of people on trial for murder will go NG. You roll the dice. You've nothing to lose by going NG. These people don't care about putting their victim's families through this if it means they walk free at the end. There's no incentive for going guilty. Not here in Ireland anyway.
This is what makes me wish plea deals happened more like they do in America - I know there's problems with plea deals, corruption just to rack up convictions, or jailing innocent, vulnerable people to close the case etc, but cases like Stuart Hazell murdering Tia Sharpe really ducked me up.
He pleaded NG, Tia's mother had to see all that disgusting, depraved, heartbreaking evidence, then once the brutal bit was over he was like 'yup, pleading guilty now to stop the family's pain'....bro, you literally forced her poor mother to watch a courtroom of people react to the most depraved thing any of them will see in their lives.....
You can get a medical cert to excuse you/deem you unfit for jury duty.When we had a convo about it on the last thread someone said there was no box to tick for having a short attention span. I wreckon you could with diagnosed ADHD tho with a case like this. I was thinking what if you get an absolute menace on jury duty who isn’t the least bit interested, how will they manage
LL's options:
- Plead guilty. Probably get a whole life order.
- Plead not guilty. Have a chance of getting off on at least some charges, and if not get a whole life order.

I saw a post and there was many comments saying their baby was in the NNU while Lucy was there and they felt looked after, also good comments about the maternity. A few comments saying it has a bad rep but it is no worse than other hospitals. Then there is comments about how it needs bulldozed
I was born in this hospital as were my daughters. In all honestly I was gobsmacked when all this came out. My youngest is two so it was not long ago that I was there. From what I know, the hospital always had a good reputation, in fact many people from across the north wales border would travel to have their babies here as opposed to Wrexham hospital. I know women who have been referred from Wrexham to Chester because the services are much better. The service on the whole was your bang average NHS hospital treatment, longish wait times, dated buildings but a high standard of care (from my experience). I can’t really comment on the case as I really haven’t made my mind up yet and doubt I will until the trial ends. In terms of what I’ve read about the hospital, it is alarming she was given so many chances, I do think they’ve honed in on LL and not really looked at alternative options from what I’ve seen. I’m friends with a nurse there who knows LL from university-not that well- and she’s aware that the hospital doesn’t have the best reputation but then 3 out of 5 hospitals have some kind of problem based on the CQC standards. She doesn’t want to discuss the case with me, nor her feelings on LL and I don’t know if that’s because she thinks she’s innocent, thinks she’s guilty, or is just a true professional

.Agreed - I was on the fence but after reading the wiki I fully think she's guilty. How terrifying though! She looks like a completely normal person, definitely not somebody I would think of as a murderer.
The one that really got to me the most was child E where the mum interrupted her and LL fobbed her off (and quite clearly lied in her notes). Absolutely not remotely the mum's fault, but she probably always going to wonder what would have happened if she had alerted somebody else.
Horrific case! How can somebody who looks so normal be so evil? Usually you can see it when you look at them, but not her.
I don't think she is pleading not guilty to revel in the fact that the families will have to relive all of this.

IMO, she got 'carried away' and became complacent and she is pleading this way to see if she can fool the jury/media the same way she did within her workplace (up to a point). She is trying her luck. Like someone else has said, if she feels further down the line that the walls are closing in on her, she can still change her plea.

I have personal experience of this hospital, my child was born here and was cared for in this unit within 6 months of the 12 month period being investigated here. We still have dealings with the hospital as my child has padiatrician reviews here (with the Dr already mentioned). I couldn’t have been more shocked when all this came out - the care we received was exemplary, the nurses were attentive and compassionate, as were all of the doctors, and we felt held and involved in the care of our baby during one of the most distressing times of our lives. In the years since then the paediatrician named has helped us to pursue different avenues of investigation for our child and always seems warm, friendly and genuinely interested in the ongoing development. We have left messages with his PA when we have been worried about something and received same day call backs from the Doctor, he has only ever seemed dedicated to the hospital and the children in his care.
we still keep up with the unit now,in their newly built space where they occasionally host little events for the graduates of the NICU and it is a lovely place to be - though they have obviously never have spoken about it with me or other parents, I know from knowing them at least a little that this will have taken a major toll on them and they will forever be devastated for the families of all these little babies.
