I believe this is referring to an investigation by HSIB, not the police. HSIB are the Healthcare Safety Investigation Branch. Usually things are referred to them rather than the police because a) it is incredibly rare that mistakes are malicious, normally these things are unfortunately competency based and b) the average police offer knows next to nothing about the intricacies of healthcare, and as we’re learning here on tattle, you need to know quite a bit of medical stuff in order to make sense of these cases. HSIB is lead by people who are qualified and very experienced in the area they’re investigating.

I’ve been interviewed by HSIB twice (I want to state I was not at fault in either case. But because the investigation is very thorough they interview everyone that was involved) so if anyone had any particular questions I can try and answer
Oh ok thanks. I’ve not seen anything mentioned about them before in this case. Do they do reports about their findings seeing this case is in the public interest?

They write reports, but they only share them with the trust, the healthcare professionals involved and the family. However I’ve never known such a high profile case so I suspect they’d be quoted. I’m definitely no expert in law processes lol

I think the difficulty at this point is lack of context. We've seen snippets of information, but not enough to get a clear picture. It's like putting a jigsaw together when half the pieces are missing. I'm interested to know whether the evidence that's still to come will clarify things or muddy the waters even more.

This is what I’m finding. There’s a lot that could be misconstrued from what we’ve seen so far, and while my gut feeling is that she’s guilty, there’s not much to go on yet that couldn’t be explained away by a good defence team. I’ll be interested to see what else they produce. I don’t doubt that the prosecution will have stacked their evidence up over the last two years.

I think while obviously we need to see the trial and amount of evidence through, I just can't ultimately convince myself she could be anything other than guilty with the sheer number of 'coincidences' there would have to be.

I just looked at the notes written by LL again and although the defence are stating "I killed them on purpose" amounts to anguish and not admission, I really can't see how this could be interpreted as anything other than an unambiguous confession to murder.

It's not "I accidently killed them" or "I made mistakes and they died" or "they're saying I killed them on purpose" or any of the millions of other permutations that could be used in order to desparatly protest your innocence.

She is having a moment of clarity and she's anguished because she's recognising what she has done and stating it in very clear terms to herself. The point to prove for murder is killing another with intent, she offers it up with the words "on purpose". They are plain, clear and unequivocal words which no amount of linguistic gymnastics can explain.

Whatever spin the defence try to put on it, there is no way an innocent person, however anguished would write those words if they hasn't killed those babies "on purpose".
I get her notes completely unless you have been arrested for a horrific crime especially if you haven't done it the absolute shock this sends you into, police also speak to you like they don't believe a word out of your mouth.

If she’s not guilty which I highly doubt she’s not how the hell are they going to explain all these poor babies dying 😔

The NHS is a huge organisation and must be bureaucratic.
Some might have had their suspicions but how many would jump to ‘someone’s killing babies’. It’s obviously not right but would the bureaucracy delay swift action? After all, it’s basically committees and everyone knows how tangled they can be.

Yes exactly and basically independent reviews took place and have already deemed all of this not the fault of collective failures. So if somebody is responsible- it has to be her. If it was one or two occasions maybe something else happened and another time there’s this reason and xyz but it isn’t- it’s many many occasions and the same type of things happening, same presentations, even to the point of the two babies in sets of multiples- one each dying a separate way, two in each set poisoned the same way. They were poorly babies but were not by any means predicted to die. As we’ve heard, lots of posters on this thread have happy stories of babies going home after needing this kind of care. It really breaks my heart these babies fought so hard against the odds to survive and should have been ok. It must be torturous for the parents to think they should have made it after all 💔

The sarcasm on this thread is really off-putting. Think I’ll stick to reading about the trial on my own.

Seems you can’t ruminate out loud on here without someone jumping down your throat about it. If I don’t like a certain poster’s stance, do you know what I do? I scroll by. You don’t need to bite and suggest they’re wild conspiracy theorists.

@avabella was a good contributor to other trial threads and I like that she thinks of all other possibilities. It’s a weird case and there’s only so much information to go by just now. I expect there’ll be much more by the end of the 6 months.
I agree that there a few people on here who love to jump down anybody who disagrees with them’s throats and I think it’s only healthy to look at both sides of the coin, but some people have taken it way too far with the conspiracy theories, it’s ridiculous. I’ve also seen people on both sides of the argument either accidentally misunderstand the evidence OR purposefully twisting the words of the defence/prosecution and then other people pick up on it and the evidence becomes something it isn’t. I just think people need to be careful about going too wild with the conspiracy theories and trying to fit the evidence into it where it doesn’t.

Not an attack on you littlemy, I agree it’s healthy to look at both sides of the argument but I have seen a few posts that are just wild conspiracy theories and this isn’t some tv drama a la Line of Duty, it’s real life, innocent little babies have died and at the end of the day it’s somebodies fault, it’s important we get down to the truth whether she’s guilty or not.

i read a great article (which i’ll try and find) about court artists after those infamous drawings of the kardashians recently - apparently there are very strict rules on how you draw people, including not making them too “attractive” or stylised. you have to draw people deliberately plain. which might explain it 🤣

I swear to god if I ever end up in a criminal court it wouldn’t be prison I’d be scared of, it’d be those bloody drawings. They’re always dreadful 🤣

@LaBlonde @abelleza I saw these ones on Facebook and I just think what the hell? 🤣🤣🤣interesting fact about there being laws, I think I once read that they also aren’t allowed to draw them whilst in court only allowed to take notes and draw later🤣
Lmao the top one inexplicably resembles Liz Truss. I think that's just the chunky forehead though.
