What do you guys do to get through the feelings when the true horror of these cases hit you? Like, most of the time I can manage fine but some things just.. hit and kind of flood the dam. How do you get these things out of your brains?
Why do these monsters exist? What makes them think the have the right to hurt these children? How fucking dare they? How DARE THEY?!
I’m sorry. I’m having a hard time anyway (stupid fertility treatment beginning) and this is probably not the place. But god damn it, no parent should have lose their child to a soulless murderer.
Fuck you, Lucy Letby.
To cope with these horrors and the overwhelming feelings I have a few coping strategies.
Regular 'do nice stuff' breaks:
Walk the dogs
Play some loud happy music (I chose the Drifters) and dance it all out
Cup of tea and a nice slice of cake. Just take time away to collect my head.
Use my husbands card to buy something lovely from Dunelm or a garden centre
Regular 'keep busy' breaks
I scrub things (usually floors) viciously. On my hands and knees just scrub. Get it out on the floors.
Gardening-Great distraction and lovely results
DIY- Ive painted a lorra lorra stuff this past few weeks, again doing something positive with the energy.
Other
I've always counteracted sadness with happiness so do something to make me laugh.
Talk it out...usually in here as nobody else in my life is following to such a degree
And last week when all of the above didn't help...I went next door and asked if I could have a little cuddle of her 5 month old baby. (I'm great friends with my neighbour, I'm not suggesting anyone just grabs a random baby). So I had a cuddle with the most beautiful little dolly and all was right with the world
I'm probably about 20 years older than you but this is what I do. Last week was really, very difficult. We.all struggled
