The prosecution have done an absolutely amazing job, tying it all together, dotting the I’s, crossing the T’s. Everything just came together perfectly and I have no idea how anyone can have any doubts about her guilt.

I hope BNE and his team get recognition for the work they’ve put in to this case. It’s mind blowing. I think it might be nosey who said at one point on Thursday they asked LL to turn to page 23000 (?). That just blows my mind and shows how much has gone in to leaving no detail uncovered. I’m honestly in awe of them.

I understand people like to speculate as to her character and what she’s really like and that’s totally fine if you want to do that, but to me it’s irrelevant whether she’s autistic or not.
I think we can ALL agree regardless of any diagnosis or disorders she may have the over-riding factor is that she's an evil little cunt 🙂

There has to be something more to this. Has she admitted to BM that she's killed them or something so he can't mislead the court by bringing in the professor of neonatology to explain it away?

Fucking millions of pounds spent on this trial and the best BM's rustled up is a PLUMBER.

They've got a guy from Estates. To try and explain away the deaths of babies who had no raised infection markers, and histories not consistent with infection.

Jesus fucking christ.

I think she’ll be found guilty. Although I don’t know if some cases might be tricky. In a way, it won’t make a difference to the outcome as she won’t be released, realistically. I know it will make a difference to the families, though.

The whole thing just leaves me with this grey, flat feeling. I remember feeling similar with James Bulger, in another world two boys went to school and a mother briefly lost her toddler and apart from a horrible moment nothing else noteworthy happened. As it was, unimaginable pain and suffering.

She could have nursed them and they left healthy and happy and grew into children. She could have kept her house and cats and friends and got married and had her own babies. There could be so much happiness here. It’s just all so miserable.

Sigh. Sorry, bit maudlin. Who has her cats, I wonder?

I’ve been accused of being a chocoholic.
It’s lies. I’m being scapegoated.

There‘s a note in my diary saying how much I bloody love chocolate, but I was confused and emotional when I wrote that. I hate chocolate.

There’s regular social media searches under my name where I’ve been looking a chocolate bars. I don’t know why I was looking at those. They were for gifts. I hate chocolate.

There’s 350 chocolate bar wrappers under my bed upstairs. I kept finding empty wrappers when I was out, but they weren’t bars I’d eaten myself. I don’t know why I didn’t put them in a bin. When I moved house, I took them with me. I don’t know why. I hate chocolate.

There’s loads of receipts for chocolate purchases, and CCTV of me buying chocolate, but if any chocolate was consumed by anyone, it definitely wasn’t me. Maybe it was my family? I don’t recall.

I weigh 28 stones and have chocolate marks around on all my tshirts. That’s just a coincidence. The washing regime in our house is inadequate. I hate chocolate.

So just to be clear: the entire trial up until now was prosecution evidence? So Letby’s defense was just herself on the stand and Mario’s cousin on the hospital plumbing?

That’s insane. That’s so insane. I wonder if they were ever intending on having more defence witnesses or experts. Like, did her terrible testimony scare them all away or did they have none in the first place?

The fucking audacity of her to not plead guilty at the start. Honestly.

Sorry just on one. Someone’s posted on the jobcentre plus convention fb group about how no one cared so much when it was Emma Tustin or Savanna Brockhill and it’s got me deeping this case
What is it about Lucy letby that has these people getting sore throats trying to protest her innocence, is it white woman privilege? Is it the fact she looks normal and not a Karen Matthews off the estate?
Cos I remember during poor Stars trial anyone who even offered the angle that Frankie Smith may have also been abused by SB, as pointed out by her own family, were insulted and told they’re sympathising with a baby killer. But by all standing LL is probably the worst child killer we’ve ever had? What is this chokehold she has them in
No, it's not white woman privilege. All those other four women you've mentioned were also white and they didn't benefit. Tbh I'm dreading the hatred that white women will get after the verdict is in.

The reason this case seems so odd is multiple reasons:
  • When the police investigation started all the way back in 2017, the police were all like "it's just a precaution, we're not suggesting anything happened" blah blah, making it look like there was unlikely to have been anything going on.
  • Lucy was arrested and let go twice and only charged on the 3rd attempt in 3 years. This made it look like the police didn't actually have much on her yet were still pursuing her. It made the whole situation look very strange.
  • The very long trial has meant that the majority of people who have heard of the case are not following it properly and have missed many damning details.
  • The media seem to be focusing on juicy but unimportant facts, like the married boyfriend or the post-it ramblings, giving the impression to the general public that there's little hard evidence.
  • Lucy is fortunate that she has featured in publicity photos from the hospital, twice - photos that are specifically intended to show her as an example of the idealized image of a nurse.
  • Because of subjudice laws, mugshots cannot be released. Therefore, the media only has access to these flattering hospital promotion photos, and also Lucy's own Facebook, which she obviously curated in the way she wanted to be seen.
  • Before the trial, we have had 5 long years of exposure only to this image that Lucy wanted to portray, as a smiley, sociable young woman.
  • Lots of plebs keep saying "but there were no red flags"; the sheer length of the trial has made people fail to realise that we only hear of these incriminating red flags after they have been convicted, not during the trial.
  • I don't think she particularly has pretty privilege (as another poster suggested), but I was one of the plebs influenced by her looks before the trial. Thinking about it, it's because in her pictures she's always smiling sweetly and unselfconsciously. This made me subconsciously think she was secure in herself and thus mentally stable, and therefore not what you'd imagine of a deranged baby killer.
  • Lucy (as a young woman) was in the sweet spot of being photogenic, but not too pretty, so she looks like a relatable, girl-next-door type.
  • Emma Tustin and Savanna Brockhill fit the stereotype of the wicked stepmother. Frankie fit the stereotype of a neglectful teen mum. Karen had the disadvantage of being very working class which leads to prejudice. Whereas with Lucy, a neonatal nurse is the complete opposite of all stereotypes you could ever think of for someone who'd torture and kill babies for lols.
  • Then in 2020-2021, we had the whole hero-worship of the NHS thing going on, with clapping for nurses etc. People see them as angels and do not want to think otherwise.

LL is right. Staffing issues did contribute but not in the way she is implying, but rather than was able to get away with her monstrous activities for so long undetected. She will change the face of nursing because of this, I imagine lots more double checking with witnesses of medications, and care etc. Following shipman it totally changed the way doctors were allowed to report deaths (mainly cremations) to prevent evidence of harm being destroyed.

The thing with these people is the absolute self centred nature of their being totally consuming their lives but everyone around them, makes me so angry inside. These babies never knew the fresh air, the sky, relatives that loved them. They only knew the hospital, the parents memories are of the hospital, no first smiles, car carrier home. There were beautiful little cribs and nurseries waiting for them at home 😭. Even beyond that, any nurse that was involved, or doctor that had to testify (even noname) their lives and how they practice now will be changed. It wouldn't surprise me if some have moved on to different careers. People who were friends were her, her parents. This is countless lives affected by one person's desire to feel a bit popular. How does it get this far!!!! Like, seriously, what the actual F***.

I'm lost in a place of total disbelief and total rage.

I wonder if BNE not questioning her on the on purpose part of the note is because he knows maybe the outcome wouldn't be favourable. I mean we all know she's a massive liar and seems to get caught out constantly but maybe he sees a risk in asking her. She could play on the whole PTSD thing, get people on the jury feeling sorry for her maybe? Or maybe he is aware that BM could make an objection that we wouldn't foresee?
Also could it be much more damning in his closing speech to bring it up where her and her defence don't have the ability to challenge him?

@nosycowmoo thank you for the update.
It’s fantastic to hear from a tattler insider all the bits the reporting doesn’t include.

The reporting said there were some pauses in LL’s answers and to me it reads like BNE got her to admit to lying on the stand twice, how did that go down?

From the live reporting:
Letby was told she could only have contact with a limited number of people from the unit.

"Did you abide by the direction?" Mr Johnson asks.

After a pause, Letby replies: "Yes."

"So you didn't have contact with anyone but the people you were told you could have contact with?"

"At that very beginning part yes but it did change as time went on," Letby says.

The prosecution says Letby was "given a document this morning".

"What's in the document?" Mr Johnson says.

After a pause, she replies: "My social life."

The prosecution says this "disproves" what Letby has previously said about her contact with the unit.

"I disagree," she says.

Letby is asked if she was "looking for sympathy" when she told the jury she had been cut off and isolated from her friends.

"Yes, it was a very difficult time," she says.

"You thought you'd get sympathy by telling a lie," says Mr Johnson.

"No."

"Was it just a mistake?"

"Yes."

The document, the prosecution says, contains examples of Letby "out drinking" and "going on days out" with members of the neonatal unit.

One day she went to London with the male colleague she has previously denied was her boyfriend.

And then this bit too:
The prosecution says Letby wasn't taken away in her pyjamas at all. Letby agrees this was the case.

"Why did you lie to the jury about it?" Mr Johnson asks.

"I don't know."

Mr Johnson calls Letby a "very calculating woman" who "tells lies deliberately".

What a day! Couldn’t sleep well last night thinking about all of this and those poor parents. As time goes on and we hear more I’m confident the jury will make the right decision and LL will never see the light of day again.
He did she literally agreed to some of the lies, she just un/ravelled. I think because she knew it was the last day her guard was down a lot. Lots of raised eyebrows and ooh 👀 moments. BNE brought it yesterday!

She kinda looked like f**k then paused and he prompted her again and then she spelt it, I didn’t actually know if it was right or not as no one said! Then he said so you looked it up on your sheets didn’t you
When I read this part in the standard I had interpreted it as she has deliberately spelt the name wrong, as in to show she wouldn’t have remembered or been looking up the parents, and then BNE flipped it back on her.

but it sounds like she actually didn’t know how to spell the name without referencing one of her papers
---
She has a good memory for names she said on 5th June...His prosecution is so layered. It all builds up. They must have gone back to chambers after a day at court and spent all night planning how to hit her the next day

LL: "Because I have thought of babies on the unit over the years, and I do look back at them."

NJ: "You have a very good memory for names?"

LL: "Yes."
Seriously he plays the long game. I am in awe of how clever BNE is

I hope LL had just manipulated Janet and she can now see it for what it is. I couldn’t have a nurse look after my baby who thought she was innocent even after all the hand over sheets etc. i think it goes against everything a nurse should be. I do think she must believe she’s innocent or at least did think that cause of the profile pics, i bet it causes some conflict on the unit
I feel really bad for Janet (and all of the staff who worked alongside her) tbh. I think the reason a couple of them have maintained her innocence for so long is because the horror of accepting that they worked alongside a murderer, were friends with her and she was operating right under their noses is just too much to bear.

Can we just remove not guilty and have ‘guilty’, ‘guilty’ and ‘if you choose this leave tattle we don’t need your bad energy’
I deifnitely considered things like - not guilty because I’m an idiot. Not guilty because I have no critical thinking skills 🤣🤣
