There were two people in the earlier threads who used to try and find reason on how she could be innocent and quite often back each other up and agree with each other - I think their names we’re daisydunn and avabella. Are they still about? I’m just curious as to see if they feel any different about the trial now and mainly if they are ok because they were quite vocal at the beginning, wonder if the trial became too much and they had to dip out

Feel this is a bit of a patronising tone to take to be honest. Life has been busy so I’ve not been able to keep up the pace recently unfortunately however have agreed with some of the latest developments that point towards a guilty conviction/evidence. I’m still really interested in what (if anything) the defence has to bring, although not too sure what could negate all of the prosecution so far. I don’t think there was or is anything wrong with questioning evidence or theories to make it clearer in my own mind, at the end of the day you or I are not on the jury so it makes very little difference. My brain probably works differently to a lot of people and I am at peace with that

I’ve finally caught up and I have many thoughts (so many that I can’t remember them without going back and rereading the last thread), but re the defence witnesses. She could sit back, say nada, have no witnesses and be found not guilty. She doesn’t have to do or prove anything.
The problem, is she didn’t say nada, she has advanced explanations for things - poor care, potentially other members of staff, her ptsd, paper collecting obsession. Without any witnesses that can support these claims, all the jury have to go off is her word. And given NJ has showed that she’s willing to lie under oath, even about small relatively insignificant things, her word means nothing. She’s not a credible witness (imo) and you can win or lose cases, however strong the evidence may be, based on the credibility of a witness.
Also, no name - no doubt there are further messages that reveal the depth of their affair but tbh it’s not really relevant to a point whether they’ve had a physical relationship etc, and therefore not admissible. The prosecution have been able to put their point across (that they had an inappropriate relationship, and she was desperate for his attention) using the messages that are admissible. Whilst I’m sure everyone would be keen (out of nosiness let’s be honest lol) to find out, having established there was a relationship, it doesn’t make much odds how far it went.

Wouldn’t she (knowing what she’s come across like) want to throw him under the bus too if he ‘betrayed/abandoned’ her … or does she in her own way care about him so is lying to protect him (even though you’re not meant to lie under oath).
Or is she pretending they were only friends because she felt embarrassed about him rejecting her.

I think it's because if she admits she was attracted to him then the 'causing deteriorations so he comes to the nursery' theory is more credible.

If she's not attracted to him then it's less likely. So she's going to bang on that they're just friends.

I work on a level 2 and we only had 2 deaths last year, one was a baby on palliative care.
2 other babies needed resuscitation but didn't die, one due to sepsis and the other just had a big apnoea due to severe reflux.
They don't desat into the 30s constantly like Letby claims, the naughtiest babies might desat into the 80s maximum 6 times in a 13 hour shift. Yes you give them a few seconds to self correct (not 30 seconds). We take from 26 weeks, generally 800g+.
They don't just unexpectedly die, it just doesn't happen.

Went for my 11am coffee break at work and expected to come back to some decent reading... HOLY MAC AND CHEESE BALLS... The plumber!

Bet BNE is HOWLING that that is their only defence. I actually feel a bit sorry for BM that he's had to lower himself to this level.

I reckon BM is secretly buzzing at this as well to be fair. He must know she's guilty.

Is it possible she was referring to a feeling of isolation rather than literal isolation? I’ve had times where I seem to be active socially but anything but really.

That would be an absolutely normal feeling, humanising, everyone gets that feeling, but she didn't say that!

Even BM gave her the opportunity when he said 'you have an active social life' she could have said "in photos I was smiling but inside I was devastated, lonely, terrified, unable to really talk to anyone, putting on an outward appearance that didn't match how I was feeling".

He honestly must have spent last night banging his head off his desk!

LL agreed Yes I was upset
BNE asks her how upset, is meltdown same as being upset ?
Letby says yes I was Very Upset BNE asks what Grade of meltdown she says dramatic.
BNE says to Letby so you were having a dramatic melt down.
LL then says where did I say that? BNE says about 20 seconds ago

It’s mentioned on the video it wasn’t in the live reporting either that LL and BNE during the discussion of her isolation both cut in and seemed to talk over each other. This clarification proves she is purposely misleading the jury she was allowed to talk to colleagues/friends just not about the case, LL says the rules were pretty relaxed.

LL has sealed her own fate. In hearing this I think she is coming across like a childish dickhead, I giggled at the bit where BNE pressed her to read her texts aloud repeatedly until she acknowledged the Love Emoji, followed by NJ saying still not your boyfriend. Fully Trusting in the jury who are seeing & hearing everything will make the right decision for all the babies involved

I wonder if BNE not questioning her on the on purpose part of the note is because he knows maybe the outcome wouldn't be favourable. I mean we all know she's a massive liar and seems to get caught out constantly but maybe he sees a risk in asking her. She could play on the whole PTSD thing, get people on the jury feeling sorry for her maybe? Or maybe he is aware that BM could make an objection that we wouldn't foresee?
Also could it be much more damning in his closing speech to bring it up where her and her defence don't have the ability to challenge him?

These are my thoughts too. On it’s own without any cross it sort of speaks for itself and is fairly strong evidence when put into context with everything else - it’s like the cherry on top. Lucy is a proven liar so she’s only going to lie her way through any questioning on that part of the note. There’s nothing to gain from probing further IMO. I think he’s very clever to let the jury draw their own inferences from that piece of evidence and to not let Lucy try to explain it away or minimise it. I have no doubts he will mention it in final statements though.

Sorry, sorry I know this trial is awful and heartbreaking, but I’m actually laughing at defence bringing in an Italian named plumber as a defence on a murder trial. Is BM actually for real? Is this a joke?

BM, if you had reports or records of incidents that happened IN THE NEONATAL ITU and ON THE DATES IN TRIAL, you wouldn't be farting about with what happened in the maternity ward which was a different unit!

I heard Karen Rees did a particularly stinky poo one day in Dec 2014, the smell lasted 3 years and was so strong it made all the staff hallucinate and add insulin to TPN bags and create air embolisms.
