I don’t understand this, if the aspirate is ‘bile stained’ then what else is in the aspirate?
Milk/saliva/stomach acid.

She's backing off because bile aspirates are an emergency in the NICU environment. They indicate a proper problem with the bowel - the baby being born with the bowels folded or formed wrong, them having twisted, NEC, sepsis paralysing the bowel. All bad.

She is fucked isn't she. Unless BM has an ace up his sleeve she is going to be serving a whole life order.

Problem is once they catch her in one lie how can they trust ANYTHING else that comes out of her mouth.

I don't think BNE has even started yet, his summing up will be spectacular.

I truly thought she would change her plea because she couldn't hack it but obviously sooo wrong. What I see happening now though is her losing her temper, because she is losing control of the situation.

I actually think she might have been lucky and got a NG before she took the stand (don't get me wrong I think she is guilty but wasn't sure all the evidence was there for all cases) but now she is really stuffed.

See this is why you're not meant to take the stand. Lucy just happily agreeing with the experts. Those experts are also suggesting babies were murdered! You don't want the defendant to agree with them....

Letby then says it is an "important factor to note there were often plumbing issues within the unit".

Letby is asked what this has to do with the death of Child E - or any of the children involved.

She says there was "raw sewage coming out of the sinks and running onto the floor in the intensive care unit".

She says this could have had an effect as well as staff being unable to properly wash their hands.
But Lucy, Baby E bled heavily and then died from an air embolus.

Not an infection.

Ah yes, sewage spewing everywhere, she was the only ones that noticed 🤣🤣 Are there any limits to her talents? Nurse, ITU nurse, poet, dildo connoisseur, now plumber too. Fuck off

can’t wait to hear all about it, thank you for your service to us! 🥰, I really appreciate it and you are brilliant at describing the tone of the room! a

I’m in Ireland and was seriously considering flying over for a day in court, but, I decided against it as it would be just my luck that the wagon would have a tantrum and court wouldn’t be sitting the day I got there.
Ha I’d go everyday if it didn’t cost £20 in train tickets and breakfast club for my children at school 😆 considering a go fund me 😉

Not to shift the blame from Lucy at all, she is the one that has harmed and murdered babies

But I do think an inquiry should happen as soon as legally possible. People like Karen need to answer a lot of questions about why they ignored concerns that essentially resulted in Lucy being able to continue harming.
Agreed.

Being concerned that a staff member is harming patients is so exceedingly rare that I’ve never ever encountered it. I’ve had concerns about competency, I’ve thought some people are a bit shit at their jobs, but I’ve never once thought that someone was so linked to patient deterioration that I’m scared to have patients alone with them like Dr Ravi was with baby K.

Yet the consultants were brushed off. A completely different staff group to LL, who aren’t involved with whatever bitching is going on within the nursing cohort. Who also have decades of experience and are used to seeing critically ill babies.

It’s insane to think about.

Yeah BNE doing a good job today. The sewage story sounds like she has stewed on last week's events all weekend and figured she needed something stronger and controversial to strengthen her case of negligence. But she hasn't thought about the implications of her keeping introducing new evidence which no prosecution witnesses or the defence opening statements about negligence have ever mentioned up to now.

Makes her look panicked and like she is clutching at straws...like my kids do when they've been caught in a fib and trying to wriggle out of it!

From Sky's reporting

Letby says the experts presented evidence of overfeeding.

"How would they know? Which experts?" Mr Johnson asks.

Letby takes a sip of her water and does not reply to this question, staring straight ahead in silence.

Mr Johnson then asks about the scene when Letby and her colleagues discovered Child G had vomited onto the floor.

Would love to know how this seemed in the court room, how long the silence went on before NJ carried on with questions.

That's what I mean in a way though - if the numbers shown are believed to be correct/accurate - then why did the baby not die? As surely that amount would be enough to kill a grown ass adult never mind a tiny baby - or is it because it's alleged to have been given over a period of time rather than one single injection?
It’s because they were giving the antidote (dextrose) alongside.

We check for hypos frequently because it’s a dangerous thing that can happen for a variety of reasons, but it’s a very easy fix. If your blood sugar is too low for too long, you’re at risk of things happening that ends up in severe brain damage.

So to fix that, we give you sugar directly into the blood. We might not know why exactly your blood sugar dropped, but the important thing is to fix it right away and keep it fixed until you can maintain a normal level on your own. That’s what the doctors did, they ran dextrose which is sugar dissolved in water in an amount that’s safe to put into a vein. As long as that is running it’s counteracting the insulin - if the blood sugar isn’t as high as they want we run the IV faster, if it’s getting high we slow it or stop. Insulin hangs around for a few hours but then breaks down, so as long as you give enough sugar to counteract it the baby will be fine.

Not fully caught up but I must say it. The parents and colleagues had no reason to lie in their agreed statements. They have only said what they know, with no idea at that time about the bigger picture. The timings and everything have only become so significant when it’s all been pieced together by police and CPS. It’s only Letby that is trying to dispute the agreed facts of the case because they point out she is guilty. We can see this, the jury absolutely will see it.
And the sewage is just her wracking her brains and clutching at straws. It happens in old buildings and is dealt with. It’s not ideal working conditions but for her to suddenly throw it out there now is very “yeah, but no, but yeah, but no, there was sewage so it’s not my fault innit”

I think some will, probably to call for an inquiry into how LL was able to commit so many murders in one of the most highly monitored areas of a hospital.

Lurker over here! I’ve been following the trial. Also inside a few Facebook groups. I believe guilty and have done for a good while. Just wanted to say how annoying it is to see people in the Facebook groups defending her and making up so many ridiculous excuses! Also a lot of people saying ‘you can’t accuse someone of murder just by joining the dots’ how else are you supposed to do it then? There isn’t always going to be concrete evidence, which is why you have to JOIN THE DOTS. I think there is plenty of evidence that points LL to guilty. Anyone could get away with doing these kinds of things if you don’t ‘join the dots’ ??? Hope it make sense in what I’m trying to say. I’m not very good at putting my thoughts into words! You lot are my kind of people and share similar views to myself. It’s been an awful heartbreaking trial to follow. I’m currently 27 weeks pregnant and can’t comprehend what this evil soul-less witch has done. I really hope justice is served. Thank you all for your inputs and opinions without sounding weird, this forum has helped me make more sense of a lot of things. I’ve cried so many tears, my heart goes out to the parents of these babies.

I just let my kid have an extended bath while I was catching up on court and the thread and he's a proper prune now. Luckily it was just water coming out of our taps though.

there is one person. On Twitter. Baby E was just hungry and the blood was actually just red from crying.

Not that Lucy has said any of this herself. It just shows the extent people will go to to claim her innocence that they even make up reasons that even Lucy hasn’t given.
God I just can’t cope with this stupidity. So letby allowed baby E to get so distressed in hunger that they had a goatee of red and let baby scream? And then what.. how did baby bleed? No soft signs of NEC. What explains why dad recalls the phone conversation that completely backs up mum’s version of events. This is what I can’t understand, do they see how hard they’re having to work to make a picture where letby is innocent? Every other person is wrong, every rare and bizarre chance happening works against her, babies have to die rapidly in ways people hadn’t ever seen before, some poisoner was at work but that also the blood results magicked in insulin and the clear recorded prolonged hypo was just coincidence, every other nurse is horrendous or murdering, all her stalking and sheets are totally normal and everyone does it, all the parents are making things up that just happen to tie in with what docs have said, Dr harkness recorded the rash as blotches but no no LL is right again, many many more chance things, a a gang of baddies and lastly the shit in the sink and a swastika garden.

I think they just try to stick to the law. We are not really meant to comment on certain things on social media, including NG/G. Even those protesting innocence are still in contempt of court.

I came across this the other day which explains it more

Ah ok interesting. She tried to mess with JJKs babies (N) at times. Q she is fitting up Minna. Seems like she is jealous and spiteful towards everybody.
I think you’re right, this is like a light bulb moment for me in terms of the babies and how she decided who to target. It was the nurses who she was angry with I think. She killed then on purpose because she was not good enough… in their eyes

I'm intrigued to hear BNEs closing statement in this. I'm almost certain he will point out exactly how many different people she has blamed for each incident. The jury may not pick up on it all at the time given how much they hear and have to take it. However, it will stand out if BNE can say she had pretty much blamed someone else in all 22 cases, yet she was the only one present for all of them.
I think he'll tie it all up mighty fine and building up to anihalate her at the end of his closing speech.
A big fucking 💥 and we can all stand and clap our hands

I like that they focused in on her being upset with MT about not being allowed in room 1 and with Sophie Ellis who got what LL wanted. Shows she has a reason to now blame them or deny their version of events.

The bit about “deserving respect” LOL - she doesn’t respect anyone else’s opinion does she. Didn’t respect JJK telling her that the CoCh way of dealing with losing a baby was valid, didn’t respect shift leader being more qualified than her to decide Sophie Ellis’ assignment and didn’t respect Sophie Ellis’ competency to be in room 1.

Also like how they showed her unprofessionalism on the job and boredom by calling attention to how she was texting during duties. Coupled with taking home handover sheets and justifying it - makes her look like the worst type of HCP. Think they’re painting a good picture of someone who is unprofessional, has a disregard for the code of conduct, challenges authority regularly, gets upset with any attempt to manage or question or discipline her, does no reflections, never takes responsibility, loves getting involved in high drama cases and then talking about it/reliving it and getting upset when others don’t indulge her, bitchy about colleagues and now throwing them all under the bus one by one.

Very hard to be sympathetic with someone who is showing herself to be the sort of person you’d never want to work with or manage!
