Everything that I was going to come on and say about the latest podcast has already been said. I love the way the podcast sets everything out succinctly, it’s really well set out and a great reminder and summary of the evidence. I think it really drove it home how jealous LL was of Sophie, and desperate for attention she was in her texts and her annoyance of not getting into room 1. It also made it quite clear that either absolutely everyone else has to mistaken/lying/at fault, or it is in fact LL that is the one lying, it can’t be both. It also again made the point that a more senior nurse (that had been in nursing for I think 20 years plus), had described the rash one way and yet LL was saying it was another. Also her now disagreeing with agreed facts is massive, I think even bowel movement must have been taken by surprise by this. There were a few occasions where she has done this, and it again made it very clear that LL changing the narrative with Dr J to her not being there at all was completely unexpected, as BM had not questioned or disputed him being in the room at all. Never mind the other discrepancies.

Someone else already said that you know it’s going horribly wrong for the defence when they are doing a better job of convincing people of her guilt than the prosecution did🙈. I’m honestly gp glad she’s taken the stand because she’s hanging herself. It was so sad to listen to the parents of D weeping as she denied remembering their baby 😩. I was really deflated on fri at her being given not only a break, but them finishing until Wednesday, but after reading sensible people on here’s posts about why the judge is better doing that than her being able to appeal later down the line, I get why he had to do it and was right to. I just hope that when she is back on Wednesday she’s tying herself in the same knots cos I do wonder if she would have cracked in some way if it had carried on Friday afternoon. I just hope the warning that went up on operation hummingbird is due to them posting the job and nothing else. Can you imagine how awful it would be at this stage if the case was thrown out now on grounds for a mistrial, I don’t know how the poor parents could possibly go through it all again

I also was thinking about her going to the doctor and going on antidepressants when she was redeployed and I genuinely can see why she was depressed and in need of antidepressants. So I think most people that have been following this trial would agree that for whatever reason LL did it, part of it was getting some kind of kick out of it/some kind of high, and on the podcast it shows how BNE repeatedly asks did she get a thrill from it. I also think it was some kind of addiction and compulsion that made her keep going, especially with A-D and N-Q where she was taking massive risks yet couldn’t stop herself. And if she was addicted to that feeling of killing/hurting them (makes me sick even writing that), then when she suddenly wasn’t able to fulfill those urges/enjoy those highs anymore then she probably would have felt very down and depressed once removed from a clinical setting, and be extremely angry at those she blamed for stopping her. She genuinely may have felt very depressed and lost as she was no longer experiencing those feelings of euphoria etc. Also when talking about her mind, thought it was a great spot by the poster that noticed her language and the difference between I and we, excellent thoughts on that.

I don’t get the vibe that Noname was married, I get the vibe that he was just older and two of them had a really weird/awkward flirting going on, reminds of the kind of chat older men would come out with. Maybe he was married and that’s why she was so desperate for attention from him, but I just don’t get that feeling at all especially him offering the car and buying her chocolate and taking her to a&e etc and her colleague teasing about her fancying him, it just doesn’t give me the impression he’s married at all

On a side note I think the name Lucy isn’t going to be as popular now for a few years due to this, be interesting to see how it does in the yearly name places over the next few years anyway. Maybe that’s part of the it couldn’t be her she’s too sweet thing that some people have going on, I think the name Lucy is stereotypically a sweet named girl in people’s head

Anyway looking forward to some more BNE on Wednesday, only one more day to go. It really wouldn’t surprise me if she’s currently on suicide watch atm also. Have a feeling there’s a lot more dramatics to come. Also agree with the poster that said they can’t wait for everything to come out after the trial that we haven’t been allowed to hear yet, think there’s going to be plenty more shocks, I also think there’s a possibility that some things such as her search history etc wouldn’t be able to be brought up in court due to being prejudicial as crazy at that seems. There’s been so many legal arguments that we’ve heard of throughout, it really will be interesting afterwards to hear all that we couldn’t hear at the time. The Netflix series will be on it straightaway. I also think the podcast which has been the first of its kind is hugely significant in the media interest that is starting to grow and how big this trial is going to be. I’m still slightly shocked from the wording of the OH Job description, this is way bigger than even we thought, they’re clearly expecting a lot more babies that are going to be looked into afterwards 😢. I also think some of the parents and families will deffo speak out after the trial too, they obvs know far more than they’re allowed to say atm☹

Help me Craig David.’
Now that I’ve said all the serious things I’d been thinking, I can go back to this. I’ve no idea why but this made me laugh far more than it should have done. Everytime I think about LL sitting with her notebook out in court, I can’t stop laughing thinking about this🤣🤣🤣. A great example of why I love this thread so much. And talking of which, it’s also heartwarming that we’ve had another new baby on here, and all the other babies we’ve had since the beginning❤. Both my girls are late teens, so I’m not really sure if I’d have been able to follow this thread as closely if they’d still been small babies, so sending lots of love to all those that have small babies now, or have had experience of Nicu, can’t imagine how hard some of this has been for you all of you. I’m so glad this thread has not only provided lots of laughs (pls never change Wrong Fella @DellaC), but also support for those that have needed it. It’s kind of ironic that so many feel happy and safe on this thread, given the awful nature of what it’s about, ironic is maybe the wrong word but you get the gist of it ❤

What a bloody week.

I feel like I've been on a roller coaster without the belt on!

We've had lies, selective memory and amateur dramatics in the courtroom.

We've had many tears and great sadness hearing the details of those darling babies.

We've had an enormous mix up by @MmmB777 which lead to incontinence on a global scale.

Not forgetting the fantastic performance from the man, the myth, the legend BNE.

And now we have the birth of a new baby to warm our hearts 💙

Look forward to next week and all the laughter and tears shared with the best bunch of feckers on tattle 🥰

So many people I speak to about this case in work think she’s NG since she’s testified 😩 they think it’s a stitch up by seniors because units were understaffed! I’ve followed from the beginning & never wavered from thinking she’s guilty so the fact that she seems to be appearing innocent to so many terrifies me! I don’t think the prosecution are challenging her enough, they’re not pointing out that’s she’s consistently lied & changed her story & it’s infuriating, I really think there’s too much reasonable doubt because of this & she’s going to get away with mass murder 😭
If you’ve not followed it closely and you’re just listening to someone say “no” then sure it would come across that way. Are they analysing what it would take to fit somebody for this? Really? Who do your friends believe poisoned the babies? I find it quite incredible people think letby saying it didn’t happen can cause reasonable doubt. All defendants say it didn’t happen. But these people seem quite happy to accept babies full of air and insulin. How did all these babies die, why are they so similar? Sorry but just going, I believe the crying nurse isn’t really an in-depth look at the situation! Why would you fit someone for murder cos a unit is understaffed 🙈 every unit is understaffed at points. No understaffing till baby K. It’s utterly ridiculous, the staffing levels are not so different from the previous year that a baby dies or needs prolonged cpr every shift one nurse has in june 2015. Just after she’s qualified to access lines. And the babies are full of air.
Unless, like the jury, you have followed the case from start to finish, it would be hard to see just how much she’s lying. Honestly I am so supremely confident she’s done for. I have the fizz waiting.

Right. We're all friends here and I need to ask.

Do people actually use these bloody things in real life or are they a novelty?

I mean what do you do, lick it, stick it to the window and back on to it hoping the suction doesn't fail or you'll end up face first in the washing basket? 😳

Do they gyrate or pulsate, vibrate or move about or are they just there?

No judgement darlings but its not for me. No thank you. I'll stick to a cup of tea and a hob nob to get my thrills 😁😁

From Sky:

After Letby finished her shift, she returned to the neonatal unit later that day - she claims to sign some paperwork.
"You went to visit Child G didn't you?" Nick Johnson, the prosecution barrister, asks.
"I didn't visit Child G, no. I went to do what I needed to do," she says, adding that she was sorting some documentation.
"Were you looking for an opportunity to finish her off?" Mr Johnson asks.
"No," Letby says.

Such a red flag she’s always going to the unit when not on duty. Is there really any paperwork so important is can’t wait till a nurse is next on shift for it to be signed?

BNE is doing a great job. She is done. Blaming the sink turds for poor Baby E's death. That is so nonsensical. That just wouldn't happen, if there really was raw sewage coming up through the sink the unit would have been closed down and Letby would have reported it. She wouldn't have been the only one to notice either, the whole unit would have been aware. Lying cunt.

I'm a bit worried about all the 'can't recall.' It's been 8 years since some of these incidents, is 'can't recall' going to be plausible to the jury in that circumstance? I know it's bollocks, but... I can't recall what I was doing 8 years ago either! Except reading bloody Datix reports
Yeah but it's lies. Hopefully obvious to the jury. She can remember that the blood on E's mouth was definitely not there till 10pm exactly. But she can't remember E's mum coming to the ward at 9? Bollocks to that. It's so obvious to us she doesn't recall the bits that will incriminate her. Letby you are guilty you murderous despicable cunt. Like to see what the FB group say about this but will save it till later to have a look!

Ms Letby also goes on to say that a 'contributing factor' could have been the unit being dirty - she says that the neonatal unit had a plumbing issues, with sewage coming out of sinks in nursery one

FFS that’s the plumber under the bus now too!

Again.. wtf. A good relationship? What does that mean in this case? She was her babies’ nurse, what relationship can you have and in what way would it justify repeatedly searching her and then why the dad too once? It’s not about relationship. And it’s not about checking up when the baby is still on the unit. Just lie after lie after lie.

It must be so hard to defend someone who bullshits and contradicts this much. BM must be hitting his face off the desk.

It's been bothering me all week why LL's answering strategy felt so familiar - if anyone's interested from a legal POV, LL appears to be carrying on the 'selective silence' strategy from police station interviews.
  • Selective silence, where the client answers some questions but not others e.g. LL 'I do not recall' with full detail on other matters.
Solicitors generally don't recommend selective silence, as it can come off very badly at trial when the interview transcript is read out or played to court e.g. raising detailed trial defence, details which could have been given mid-interview. The court/jury can draw adverse inferences from this approach aka they're entitled to conclude defence is fabricated, and often works against the defence's favour. Nerd moment over 😅

Weird so many texts but not once was there a "sewage is awful" type text.
Bloody hell I'm just sitting in the garden reading all this shit and a bloody bird has shit on me. At least it went on my jeans and not the washing which I've just done.

Oof. So she's allegedly manipulated BS into coming away from her patient, and getting her to do the obs for Child E so that she'd be placed in the room. Bear in mind Dr Harkness is in there as well at this time.

In a past life, Della… I’d have got up on one of these vibrating ones till the cows came home. I’m real respectable now though. 2 babies and a fanny like a Morrisons bag. Only good for holding me notes.
