FOI request with the number of deaths over a 5 year period. Makes you appreciate how abnormal the number of deaths they had in 2015-2016 were. I’d assumed deaths would happen more frequently on a NICU.
(Haven’t seen whole thread, apologies if already discussed)

Stillbirths also jumped by 9 in 2017 from 2 to 11, that's alarming.

Looks like on average there were 2 or 3 early neo natal deaths per year, not the 1 some people suggested.

She was papped signing for her bail conditions back in 2018.

Crazy how the press were on her and ready waiting to take photos as far back as 2018. She must have kept a very low profile from being bailed to then being remanded. Anyone local to Hereford/Chester and saw a lot in the local news back then?

I've always been aware of the case through local reporting from when the hospital referred themselves to police to 'rule out anything sinister' to it changing to a murder investigation. It was big news when she was arrested and her house searched. And that waa how her name got out, it wasnt released by the police until she was charged. Then really the coverage followed the same path as the national media reporting. Very quiet until the next arrest(s) and then all the other court appearances etc in the run up to this trial. There have been a lot of heavy reporting restrictions in place until the actual start of the trial so it's not really been reported on.

I think they’ll be very keen to point out it’s all circumstantial evidence. I think they’ll potentially bring out character witnesses testifying under oath that she’s a caring person and that helps to provide evidence she wouldn’t do anything like this. They could even potentially say it’s a hospital cover up? (Although I think that might be unlikely unless they’ve got evidence to support that)

It’s crazy that u don’t have to provide another scenario to help urself I’d feel the need to give another suspect to save myself

as for her parents I find it odd they’re holding hands going in and out of court everyday, I bet they’ve been told to do that.

Their CHILD is on trial for MURDERING babies. She's their only child. They probably need the support. I can't even believe their support for each other is coming into question

It's absolutely a credible possibility. It's exactly how Victorina Chau started and Rebbeca was accused. IV bags were being preloaded with insulin.

Though it may not be the case here, it seems silly to try and say this isn't a credible possibility as it absolutely is.

Of course it’s not silly to say it, they were questioning her on that one incident. For that one incident they are saying it’s not a credible possibility. They will address this when they go into the evidence.

That’s nice. Isn’t it sad though that it can be twisted to make it seem like it’s not normal.

my friend had a very premature baby abroad (I won’t say where as it was widely reported in the press at the time and I don’t want to inadvertently give personal details away!) but the neonatal nurse who took care of her baby and who flew back to the UK on a special flight with the baby actually stayed in touch with my friend and came to visit them recently too, when she was over in the UK. She’s clearly just a lovely, genuine person who still thinks about the babies she cared for. It’s sad that nurses like her will potential get overlooked or people will be suspicious of their genuine caring behaviour after this case.

Is it not glaringly obvious the difference between midwives and nurses asking a family if they can stay in touch, and a nurse who is frequently looking up families of dead babies on social media without their knowledge or permission even years after they’ve died?

Isn’t it possible there’s no other suspect though? These deaths may not have been murder

Is there a chance she can be found guilty of a few murder charges but not all (example not enough evidence) or will it simply be she is either guilty or innocent

It’s not an overall verdict though is it? Wont she have a verdict for each individual charge. So they may find her guilty of a few but not all I keep going back and forth between her being guilty and innocent.

I thought this but then when I found out who her barrister was and I changed my mind he's managed to secure not guilty for some really top cases. He obviously believes he can do it or he wouldn't have taken the case as it could affect his career if he loses. You cast doubt on a few of the charges and it all topples.

I hate the thought that she's guilty but might get let off for this reason. Not saying I want an innocent person to go to prison either! But you know what I mean.

Absolutely yes, she is facing 7 murder charges some of the cases may possibly have evidence that is beyond reasonable doubt where as others may fall short

One thing I don't understand. If there were all these statistics and comments from employees, why did it take the 3rd arrest to charge her?

I desperately want them to be as detailed and passionate as the prosecution. Because I feel like then, we can all see a bigger picture.

Right now, we've just been told she's evil and twisted and a poisoner. The defence need to say why she isn't then we can put the two things together.

I'm leaning towards innocent but... that could all change in the coming weeks.

tbh even if the hospital did have failings does she also not need to take some accountability? I guess they are going to say she raised concerns but they’d need evidence for that too

Failings of the hospital , also how dodgy statistics are in cases like this , explanation for Facebook searching , whether she did overtime skewing the statistics , lack of PMs on some babies , defences medical experts. Her defence barrister is very good and would have thought of everything. I honestly don't know if she's guilty or not but how good her defence is might sway it.
