I actually was confused with this pic. What’s the point of the arrow? Or is there no point and he’s just scribbling
Gonna take a wild guess that the ring might have something to do with @thelongingtotalktostrangers (their joint account/new business)

I have boobs like Lizzy. That's not a compliment to myself or her. I was always so self conscious about them and covered them up b/c I would get ogled constantly by gross men growing up and I absolutely hated it. I was in a college class once and being young (18) and not really knowing what looked good on me wore a sleeveless tee and it wasn't until I got to class I realized it made my boobs look massive. I did always wear a bra though but that actually made them more round and projectile 😆.

When I made my way to my seat (UT Austin is a massive school) the bro male whiplash was mortifying. Of course, fate would have it, that the professor called on me that day to help him demonstrate a concept in the front of the auditorium (he wasn't the type to stare at boobs it was just coincidence), and I was like "no". 😆 . He stared at me with utter confusion. A student is refusing to participate? He said, oh come on! And I was like sorry, no. You could hear a pin drop. I'll never forget it. And it's not like I could explain it to everyone. "I'm not going to the front b/c my boobs pornographic in this top and I didn't intend that and I might run away and cry."

Hahahaha. So awkward. So times have changed a little, but I would be super self conscious if I were her. I'm glad she's not but I wonder if she likes the attention, unlike me? Or is she just unaware of males doing that? Not that we should change our behavior because of that. It's just so uncomfortable for me personally. Not wrong, just anxiety provoking.

I think she’s aware, but does not care. Yes, they often seem thirsty, but at the same I don’t think we can put it all down to liking the attention. I think she’s genuinely comfortable with her boobs, nipples and all. I think if you’re self-conscious about something, that may seem different.

I have very long legs and I used to wear super short denim skirts in the 2000s, I don’t even remember how I sat down in them. But I do remember just being comfortable in them and not wearing them for male attention. I’m sure others may have thought that, although we all wore them. Now, I still have those legs, but I’d probably feel more self-conscious in them.

Although a lot of your story seems to also have to do with insecurities many have at that age.

Haha I had to look up what a Sloane Ranger was... I guess here in America we'd just call it "preppy" or maybe even "collegiate" (a style I personally detest). Funny enough, one of the first Google images that came up was this, which appears to be Bella Hadid, but you could be forgiven for thinking it was Lizzy.

Oh Lizzy. Not sure this book review quite makes sense... Maybe do one of your coffee runs before you think about putting words together in a sentence next time?

I want an update on the house reno. She has mentioned nothing about it. Why the veil of secrecy?

Yes, that makes a ton of sense! Thank you. It helps to read that. I will clarify that I did continue to feel this way - so I'm not sure it is all b/c I was young.

I don't think she wears the tops for male attention, neither did I, but I do think you get that attention in certain circles regardless. It's good that she is comfortable and doesn't care.

I do find Europe to be a lot more comfortable about boobs. I'm not insecure at the doctor's office or in the gym. I'll strip down and it's essentially like them looking under the hood to me. I guess it's American men who never see boobs except in regards to porn or as sexual imagery. Ugh. Not that all American men I like that, but the culture, especially some of the underlying religion in the South undergirds both male and female behavior.

Of course, England has its share of "lad" culture too but I remember in primary school I would run around without a vest even in "music and movement" class and no one would blink. When I moved to the US, all the pre-teen girls were wearing bras whether they had anything or not, not even vests, full on bras.

I loved wearing short skirts too. I didn't feel self conscious about my legs but did get shamed for that as well - but more by women, strangely. Texans have this underlying attitude of "nice girls don't wear that" that England didn't have as much. This has changed a little, but it's still there. NYC has it too more than London but there's more duck you I'll do what I want attitude to counteract. LOL.

It's so complicated isn't it? Anyway! I really am glad she's at ease even if it gets a little boring stylistically to see her constantly in a vest, trousers and sneakers.

She absolutely DOES go without a bra to get attention male or female imho obvs !
Interestingly, I recall this braless look started in the days of Dean... Back then her outfits got REAL provocative. Of course on hindsight it now appears that was because he was photographing her and she was, well, keen. I mean no issue there, when you're young and like your bod go for it.

Anyway I don't know now with age and obv Dean being gone if it's merely for attention or if she's genuinely grown to like the look. It seems very much in line with her "Tumblr-esque" aesthetic. Lol.

I think going braless is more of a trend in general. I see a lot of influencers without bras, and the padded and push-up bra from the 2000s are definitely dated. It’s partly why brands like Victoria Secret are so behind now.

So she may be braless to attract attention, but that is no different from how we used to wear heavily padded push-ups before. In a way, no matter what you do with your boobs, it’s always to draw attention, apparently.

Well, I believe there are outfits that look better with a bra and outfits that look better without one. But apparently Lizzy loves the braless look just because she thinks she’s hot stuff 🤷‍♀️

I prefer to go braless any time I can as well. But I have small breasts, so maybe I’m not a good example. But to me, there’s nothing more liberating than being braless. Even though my bras fit well and are comfortable.

On the home renovation, I think the spare bedroom should be a laundry room, because I found it disgusting that she would put clean washing on a kitchen counter… The hoarder room, I mean supposed dressing room do a major clear out and keep quality, practical pieces that you wear otherwise why?

If the dining room table is clean isn't easier to fold nearer the washing machine? Isn't that usually in the kitchen for Brits? I quite like how Americans tend to have a fully separate "utility" (clothes washing/drying) area. I suppose she could just have a folding table and ironing board upstairs. She could have the washing machine in the bathroom I suppose too. I've never thought about that. In Australia that seemed to be the spot to have it.

I'm such a Brit who grew up in the 70's. I'm very much, clean enough? armpit sniff - perfect fine that'll go another day...

I’m in the Netherlands and only very old houses with a specific layout will have a washing machine in the kitchen. Otherwise, it would be either in the bathroom, or in a separate laundry room. And lots of people have their washer and dryers in the attic.

When I lived in the U.K., it always felt unnatural to me to have to sort out dirty laundry in the kitchen, or to take out clean laundry, next to my garlic and onion smells. But it’s all cultural bias on my end.

Yeah as a Brit my only grievance is the kitchen smells mixing with my fresh laundry!
