Her latest ad for the L’Oréal steam straightener cost over 200.00 US dollars in Sephora. I was thinking about buying it until I saw Lily’s ad and it put me off completely. Don’t understand why L’Oréal would use Lily to promote such a product, bad choice by L’Oréal. Lily needs to chop off all those fried dead ends, start taking vitamins to promote hair growth such as Vitamin D, biotin, fish oil, figure out if her hair needs protein or protein free masks, avoid highlights and heat and she might be able to repair her hair. She is in lock down now is the perfect time to work on her hair and would give her content for her channel.
Same! As a kid I was always having to thread needles for my London-based granny. Says a lot about Lily’s competence...

@Readinginks I sometimes briefly follow accounts I come across, simply to remember it. Then when I go back, it just may not be what I need and I unfollow. I hate when I see something somewhere and then can’t find it back anymore. If I go and check out the account right away, I get so side tracked and forget what I was doing or looking for in the first place.

I agree. That’s the reason why I still follow LiLy and Anna - they are not unattractive, far from it. But they don’t look like In the Frow, or Freddy my Love, where you look at them and you think “why do I not look like that”. I can’t think of many other influencers that are like Anna and Lily in terms of their attractiveness. Maybe Signe from Use Less, but it’s only because just like Lily she sometimes wears stuff that doesn’t suit her at all, and she has one of those weird faces that depending on the angle she either looks amazing or just ordinary. Other than that pretty much all of the UK crowd (and Signe isn’t part of it anyway) I can’t think of anyone else.

My first boyfriend had a similar shirt. It was 1994. My dad also wears a similar one UNDER his clothes when hiking. Her fashion sense is just atrocious.

You don't want someone to just follow you so you follow them back, that is not going to bring in the engagement. Better to have fewer followers who are loyal. I manage a brand's social media and I'm currently in the process of deleting inactive followers, so the engagement rate goes up. The total amount of followers doesn't matter as much as your engagement rate.Thank you everyone for the insight into your IG habits. I am trying not to obsess too much about numbers, but in a way I also understand that if I want to sell, social media presence is a necessity, and I admit, it’s also nice to share the work that I’m proud of. In fact I initially set up that account more as a personal diary to document my printmaking progress, but I started getting asked whether I was selling. I think she'd look much nicer if she had a classic long bob, where the bits the nearest to the face are the longest.

I remember when I was little my favourite thing was to have french braids, mainly because my neighbour had to do it as my mum didn’t know how. Two fat braids with massive bows at the end. And then by the time I returned from school there’d be no bows and maybe one braid left if I was lucky. Good times! Pins would have to be glued in to not spring off my head lol
Back to Lily, that’s the thing isn’t it - you and I understand that it was quite “difficult” before but that’s no reason why she can’t change/learn now. You can’t just plead ignorance forever. My parents are from a homogeneous country and didn’t have exposure to other hair types. And then when they came to England there was no internet. TV was full of the same faces, hair, body type etc It’s not like that anymore. They didn’t have access to any specialised magazines (if there were any) and comprehension of English was poor anyway. Lily has endless resources.
She also needs to find another hair stylist with experience and know-how in taking care of curls. That should be step 1 before whining for free hair care and watching YouTube. Speak with a professional who understands the different types of hair and can advise accordingly. I’m sure a professional could tell her exactly what to do and what products to use. She’s beyond watching YouTube videos. She needs to seek professional help ASAP. AND PAY FOR IT OUT OF HER OWN POCKET.
At the end of the day, this will all be too much work and require a shit ton of patience we know Lily doesn’t have. Forget about being a good role model her to kid. She’ll continue doing what she’s always done and be lucky if she has any healthy hair left by the time Grey graduates college.
