Some absolute ghoul posted pics of my loved one on Facebook in a very jokey manner after the suicide so I feel utterly sick that the parents of this young man who won’t have even held his hand for one last time will possibly see this

It’s all very very sad indeed. 31 is just such a shocking age. I read the news as it broke last night and checked to see if it was real.

I felt bad because I had been on reels and was watching a reel that wqs mocking his cringiness. I was sort of internally nodding along. And then I opened the news and saw he was dead. Made me pause and feel very shit about that juxtaposition.

I think everyone close to him should be left alone. Including Maya. I still commend her for speaking out. His death doesn’t change the fact that he was abusive. His drug taking may be an explanation to some of his behaviour in recent years, but it does not excuse it.

In fairness to the 1D lads whether they grew apart or not. They’re the only 5 lads in the world who have experienced One Direction. I remember when Left Eye died and TLC were saying we fought like sisters but we were still sisters.

It reminds me of something Emma Bunton said - regardless of how close she and the Spice Girls may or may not be, they are literally the only four girls who experienced that life and fame with her, and no one else could possibly understand that - not even those who are/were equally as famous at that time.

It's funny how it's only the failed X factor people who are bitching about the show. 1D got to see the world and make millions because of X factor. The 5 of them wouldnt have got that if they'd never entered the show.

I don’t actually envy them the travel, because as much as I’d love to travel more, I don’t think they actually got to see many places outside of hotel rooms, stadiums, planes and tour buses. They could never leave their hotels because the crowds outside would be off the scale insane and waiting for them. I’m sure it used to be reported that they had to have hotel floors reserved for just them for security reasons. As they’ve said themselves, they were cooped up in hotel rooms with little to do other than drink from the mini bars and room service

Apparently the news in Argentina are reporting that he left a handwritten note for his loved ones. I can't find anything else about this though.

I doubt that's true, it doesn't sound like he was in state to put pen to paper.

It must be a weird situation for the rest of 1D. The expectation of the level of grief is at odds with the reality of their relationship with Liam.

It’s like being expected to publicly grieve and declare love over a workmate you spent an intense amount of time with years ago but don’t really know any more.

i think it was probably harder for harry to form a statement too because he’s SO famous, he knows every word he writes will be scrutinised. it’s unfair they even have to put out these things so soon when they’ve probably barely even acknowledged their emotions on it themselves yet

Maya Henry said yesterday that he would threaten suicide and was doing this recently with her.

I haven’t followed the Liam Payne stuff at all and I don’t know anything about Maya Henry. I don’t know what he’s accused of doing.

But I’ve absorbed over recent months that he was behaving erratically, wasn’t in a good place and pretty obviously was spiralling into drugs.

I’m not sure what his ex was hoping to achieve by giving public interviews about him to what looks like a couple of teenagers.

I’m not defending him or attacking her but I think if someone is struggling and in a dark place, then you should be the bigger person and not stick the knife in.

I guess if you’re in shock, your management are saying something needs to go out today, you probably would give it a glance over and add your own bit and say just send it out. Not everyone’s grief needs to be public. Devastatingly, Louie is more that used to grief and Zayn has gone through similar addiction issues so I guess it hits harder at home. To Niall and Harry, I guess they must still feel slightly on a different wavelength.

What’s interesting is seeing Little Mix liking and commenting on the boys posts, Jesy had her demons and struggled and they were quick to drop her. No doubt they would write the same in a similar situation.

I found the recording of the hotel worker really strange. I speak quite good Spanish and it sounded to me like Liam was already dead and the caller knew that, it was my first thought. His tone was off and the fact he explicitly said the way that he was going to die (or had died) and that the police weren't needed, just the medical team, also surely hotel staff can always enter a hotel room?

Maybe he was thrown from the balcony and thats why he landed head first?

Maybe there's a cover up?

Can anyone explain why this news has left me terrified? I wasn’t a big 1D or Liam fan but obviously knew who he was as most people do. But this has left me so unsettled and I have no idea why. Literally read the news last night and when I had to go downstairs to make my baby’s bottle in the night I was actually scared.

I don’t think you’re weird. I had a very similar feeling to what you described when I heard about Michael Jackson’s passing. I hadn’t been a fan for years, but I felt very freaked out and unsettled by it. I think hearing news like this at nighttime plays a part in too maybe? And of course the shock of it. So please don’t feel like you’re weird, I think it’s a very human reaction.

Madness that everyone automatically assumes he is guilty of abusing his ex with no proof or him getting arrested but when its the other way around and Caroline flack got arrested for domestic violence and then does herself in, everyone cries out for people to be kind. Liam was Kate's meal ticket. I doubt she would dump him... but I assume she might of been furious and wanted some time away from him.

Bet it's weird having such a lavish life that vanishes overnight. The videos of them together there doesn't seem to be any chemistry between them.

I’ve literally never seen this girl before last night, when the TikTok algorithm showed me that video of them flying to Argentina that everyone else has no doubt seen. She came across to me as completely vapid and brash and definitely in it for the money.
