I met him briefly years ago, he made a very lasting impression. He was super polite, funny, and down to earth.

Posted this on the 1D Thread but thought I should post here after reading some comments on here.
My dad has been going into rehab for most of his life for alcohol addiction and 9/10 he falls off the wagon again, because as much as he does want the help there and then, it doesn't last. It happens time and time again. It's sad.
You can have all the money in the world, all the resources there to help you but ultimately it is down to the person that is needing the help to actually want it because otherwise the cycle continues.
My dad struggles massively with life, he has lost his daughter to cancer, his wife to cancer, and his son in a car accident, amongst many other things and he used/uses alcohol as an escape. It doesn't matter that he has kids that love him, grandkids that love him.
It's an addiction that he has tried to beat many times but he just can't do it.
It really isn't that easy as just going to rehab and you're all good. If it were my dad would have beaten this horrible illness & addiction 40yrs ago.

both had adhd, same as Dec and rumoured Amy Winehouse. self medicating to escape partly i’d imagine
As I said in the 1D thread too, it’s the most awful awful experience trying to get them into rehab - not at all like the romanticised stuff you see in the movies. It’s raw for all parties involved, the addict and the loved ones and at any point they can say they’re not ready for treatment and you just dry your tears put them back in the car and wait until the next phone call when it’s all gone wrong again, or worse.
Loving an addict is not easy by any stretch and so hard for the others around them to deal with and all the criticism of why don’t you do more

I felt bad because I had been on reels and was watching a reel that wqs mocking his cringiness. I was sort of internally nodding along. And then I opened the news and saw he was dead. Made me pause and feel very tit about that juxtaposition.
I think everyone close to him should be left alone. Including Maya. I still commend her for speaking out. His death doesn’t change the fact that he was abusive. His drug taking may be an explanation to some of his behaviour in recent years, but it does not excuse it.

Getting them into rehab in the first place is a struggle in itself. My dad wasn't even allowed toiletries as they could be sprayed onto a mirror and caught in the lid to drink. it's horrendous. You just hope and pray that a switch will flick in their brain and they will want to be there but 9/10 it doesn't work. Life gets hard again, the demons come back and we are back to square one but we just go again and that is life as I've known it since I was a child. I don't think people will get it or understand it unless they go through it or know someone who is going through it. It's ok to not understand but some people think it really is just as black and white as into rehab and boom! You're sorted. If only

This seems all very unreal to me. I'm not a massive 1D fan but remember Liam auditioning for the X Factor and though he was amazing.

I don't know much about the stuff Maya has been saying but have read the comments in here and see the news about the restraining order but these are allegations (I'm not saying they aren't true but we also need to remember the whole Depp-Heard thing)

Forced her to have an abortion at 19, she had complications and he essentially abandoned her
Chased her with an axe
Punching walls next to her head, smashing objects
Threatened suicide
Sent fool picks to her family
Cheating
Told her if she spoke out no one would believe her because he has the support of his fans
Harassed her, her mum, her friends by creating multiple accounts to contact her on, whilst he was with his current girlfriend Kate
Openly admitted to preying on his fans
This has really affected me, much more than I thought it would! I lost my brother in law to suicide this summer and it brings a lot back with the young child etc being involved.
I also had a family member who struggled with addiction before he died from it. My dad would take him to rehab and he’d be drunk again within an hour of getting out. If they don’t want help you can’t force them.

I think she did the right thing keeping Bear private. We've never seen an image of his face,just the occasional pic from behind.
Ahh yes, because there are only two options. Stay silent and say nothing to anyone, or give a public interview over Teams that will be released for the whole world to see.
Isn’t this where it all gets a little muddy though - as she’s said the story is based on him then back tracked a little and said it’s not all true story and some parts aren’t true. For me it makes the book a little dangerous from that respect.

I'm assuming Kate was hanging on to his success and the lifestyle. I saw her talking about how 2 years ago she was styled by a stylist for halloween and she was in awe of thats how he lived. She will have witnessed his behaviour. I saw an interview earlier where he made it clear he had bipolar and it's clear he was having a manic episode. Having being around that myself it's incredibly difficult and that's with someone who had nowhere near the resources Liam had available to him.
I'm wondering how she dealt with Mayas allegations as she seems to have left in the midst of it? Could this be the catalyst for his drug binge? I do feel somewhat bad for her as she must be going through a lot and she's just lost the lifestyle she's become accousmed to!

The abortion bit is true but I’m not sure about the complications afterwards and his team refusing her to get medical attention.
You said she should be the bigger person. Why? He wasn’t?
Men need to be called out for this behaviour, and if you can do that on the world stage all the better to make it known. Does that mean I don’t think he should have had support with his problems? Of course not. But frankly she did nothing wrong by calling him out.
