she is getting narcissistic injury when people give her backlash for something she said or did, and im sure that hurts her in her narcissistic world but its delusional.

All this toxic positivity really bothers me. I’m a mental health pharmacist in a psych hospital. I don’t see any of these posters on the wall. . Nor Laura’s book as reading material.
Laura could do with doing a course with Jigsaw and then I might respect her insight

I’m increasingly inclined to agree with poster who thinks Laura might have PND. As mu as I am not a fan of hers, she is acting really weirdly. So defensive and insistent that she can do everything. Also the way she went after that journalist and the way she is reacting to LI criticism it’s just so over the top and ill advised. She must have people telling her to stop, step away from socials and just get herself together and she must be ignoring that advice. I found that clip painful, Iain is like a puppy that’s scared of getting kicked. You can see his facial expression change from hope to discomfort.
Ive said it before- i can see an article coming out soon where she tries to show a softer side by saying she was trying to do it all so soon after having a baby, trying to show she was superwoman but was struggling inside and so hurt by the criticism when she was secretly struggling. Big PR exercise to get people and press back on side.
This isnt a dig at PND- ive been there, its complex, its horrendous.

Couldn’t agree more. I work in this area and even after my education and training I would never put some blanket statement up online because it can be really harmful.

I’m sick of these celebs who think having come through some mini crisis gives them an expert opinion on how to talk to people who are really struggling.

Sorry, just read my post back and it’s not the most coherent! Infuriated by the virtue signalling and crap advice when she has absolutely no idea what she’s talking about. Find it so upsetting

THIS X 100000000. Me too. Mental health is such a complex and specialised area. I’m in in 10 years and still am learning every day.
Imagine somebody in one of the MDTs saying “ tomorrow will be better “ They’d be run out of the meeting.

Please let me formally take back any PND suggestion. I am so enraged by the post. It’s so immensely hurtful and unhelpful to people who may be/ may have struggled with severe mental health problems and also to those around them. Cheer up babes, tomorrow will be better. Arghhh, that’s unhelpful when you’ve had a bad day at work (rants to fade).

I feel like she is trying and spectacularly failing to touch on what Aisling Bea explores in her series ‘this way up’ and in her incredibly moving guardian article about her father’s suicide where she talks of her experience coming to terms with her father’s decision and how it was a moment, a period of time when he felt there was no other way but that is so different to saying - you’ll feel better tomorrow.

Arghhh. Anyway, I’d really recommend that ashling article, and her series.

Urgh Laura really is something else.

Oh and yes, completely agree re the toxic toxic toxic positivity. It’s v on brand- no one can change your life except you- if you are struggling it’s on you, if you feel suicidal, pull your socks up. Look at me, I’m not suicidal even though people are mean to me because I’m so great. 😩

It’s just shows Laura’s failure to understand clinical depression. .

This is a bit like when Jameela Jamil vague-threatened suicide after she was called out for lying online.

She’s trying so hard to come across as likeable, with the fake tube shots and now the woe-is-me suicide prevention day post. All that jumbled mess of a post shows is how little of a notion she has about suicide and mental health issues and how privileged she is. You don’t “no-one can change your life except for you” your way out of the depths of depression and telling someone that when theyre struggling is going to add to their pain and misery and guilt and shame and all of the things that lead someone there in the first place. It’s toxic positivity and it’s a huge part of the problem in the first place.

Everything LW is doing right now is attempted damage control but it’s digging the hole even further because she is unlikeable, unrelatable and now contemptible with using World Suicide Prevention Day to further her own cause.

The whole ‘no one can change your life except you’ message is so toxic. It’s a great sound bite and if your having a great life then it’s all because of you, yay, give yourself a pat on the back. But if you are struggling then that must mean you’re not trying hard enough?

Ok I know suicide awareness is important, that’s why there’s suicide prevention day, but why do celebs have to post about these days on the gram and make it all about them. World breastfeeding day, world peace day, National crisp day etc. She should post about her experience on World Haemorrhoid Day when it comes around

It’s just a meaningless soundbite from another privileged twit who has been handed everything and not lived in the real world for a very long time now. She thinks she has it all figured out but she has never truly struggled

I can't be bothered with the goody two shoes type who like to give you a soundbite telling you how you could change your circumstances if you just did e,x,z! Yeah, well, I have some important information I'd like to share with those assholes. THE WHOLE POINT OF MENTAL ILLNESS MEANS YOU OFTEN CANT DO A, B and C, never mind bloody X, Y & bleeping Z! If only it was as simple as that, eh?

And as for Laura's statement on "having a bad day." News for you Laura, it's not just one bad day, it's many, many bad days one after the other until you are exhausted fighting them and you don't want to do it anymore. When you are at the point it's impossible to know that "tomorrow might not be so bad" because the one's before for weeks, months and sometimes years, were so awful so how will tomorrow be any different?

Bored of celebs, and sometimes regular folks, spouting shite about mental illness when they've done little actual research apart from reading a few virtual signaling posts on social media. Honestly, I don't think that realise that they are doing more harm than good.

I really bleeping hate the way she’s talking about Caroline here, without actually naming her - she knows she is no position to talk about Caroline but can’t help herself. Using Caroline’s memory to try to garner sympathy for herself and at the same time using it as an opportunity to fire a shot across the bows at ‘the media’- URGH. It’s so disgusting.

So calculated, shows there’s no low to which she won’t stoop. She has crammed a lot of nuggets in the message as well eg, ‘those who employ me know the truth’ (paraphrasing). Trying to bluff her job is secure?

She has basically taken an important day and used it to issue a public warning to the media to back off or else. I hope the media don’t lose their nerve - I hope they continue to call her out where it’s due.

I can’t believe how tone deaf she is. She could have done something really positive and helpful with that post given the day that’s in it but instead she turned it into a “poor me, I’m so victimised” rant. She really is a self centred bleep.

ETA 44 thousand people liked that post. Wtf is wrong with them?

Also ‘the media contact me every day trying to get me to write their stories for them’ (again paraphrasing)

It’s called right of reply you moron, and you’d be complaining if they didn’t offer it to you 🤷‍♀️
