Laura Adlington #4 Dream house, dream job AND still a miserable, moaning, ungrateful whinger

Surely it's easier to drop a dress size than it is to campaign for brands to make bigger clothes? Years back (I'm a short arse who likes food) Next Petites only went up to a size 16 and it was the best diet incentive in the world knowing that if I ever got to the stage I couldn't fit in to them then I would never be able to find something nice in the right length ever again! I credit Next with my not having ever ended up massively overweight back in the day!

If Laura actually follows through on her ‘campaigning’, shares updates of her discussions, maybe talks about the challenges of extending size ranges etc then I would welcome this latest move because at least she’s choosing a mission that aligns with the ‘beliefs’ she peddled in her book and she’s doing something practical for the plus size movement.

But sadly I think she’s just read tattle, seen that people don’t think she’s genuine because she did a couple of #stockmysize posts and then took sponsorship money for her event from a brand who doesn’t actually stock her size, and decided to do a couple of stories claiming she’s in discussion with them about extending their sizes. It’s all just lip service. She is fake and shallow and half-arsed.

I think she wants to ensure there are sizes available for her, if she continues to gain weight. Staying at a certain size doesn't seem to be for her, she wants the flexibility. Listen, women especially, always fluctuate in size based on lots of things like menstruation, menopause, stress, lots of things. So no shade on that. But being clear about inclusivity means committing to saying something like inclusive brands ranges will be from 4 to 30, not lambast non-inclusivity but not verbalise what inclusive looks like. She's such an irritant.

If these companies didn’t decide based on market research and consumer demand to expand their size range, they won’t decide because of Laura asking. The same Laura who wears their size 24 dresses just fine and is happy to take the affiliate marketing money from them… what kind of advocate is she?!

She’s moaning about Mango/VB collab only going up to a size 12 (I think it’s actually 14). Isn’t it a bit deluded to expect a ‘designer’ known for being incredibly thin to launch a line of clothes up to a size 30?! I’m not even sure I’d want a person with zero previous experience of doing so to try to create clothes for bigger people (I’m a size 20-22 myself) - I can’t imagine they’ve any idea of how to get a decent cut/fit on a larger body

VB specialises in designing clothes for thin women and making tailored and sometimes oddly shaped clothes look good. I have some VB clothes and it would look absolutely horrendous on a bigger woman and that is fine. Not everything has to fit everyone. She has absolutely no right to call out anyone after her collabs with brands that don’t even have her actual size

How truelly awful she didn’t mention breastcancernow.
I see she shared it since. Once she got her prompt from here 🙄

She has a neck like a concrete block rounding on VB because how dare she not make clothing in sizes 26+. Who the heck does she think she is. She takes NO responsibility for the fact she is obese and not in the most common sizing clothes bracket so with being that size comes limitations. She blames EVERYONE but herself. Hey Laura, if you want to fit into a lovely VB dress, lose weight.

And yes I know VB clothes stop at 14, but hey, that's VBs prerogative if that's her cut off. She runs a bespoke tailoring brand.

Although losing weight isn’t always easy, it probably is easier than campaigning for brands to make larger sizes. The thing is that by campaigning, she’s putting the responsibility on someone else instead of herself. I don’t know if she has health issues that prevent her from losing weight but judging by the portions of her meals that she posts and the constant eating of chocolate etc. , she’s doesn’t appear to be taking any responsibility for her weight. Instead, it’s the clothes companies’ fault that she can’t fit into their clothes.

She was at a cancer event yesterday that she failed to share.

She has no interest in sharing things that she doesn't financially benefit from lmao

When she inevitably endures ill health as a result of her weight (osteoarthritis, sleep apnea etc), she'll definitely blame the NHS for her demise 🙄

She is literally struggling to breathe showing those clothes, the gasping when she stands back up straight.
So she got size 28 in the pants and they fit perfectly

i’m going to have a wee rant! there appears to be an awful lot of new clothes either gifted or bought - daily almost!! my thoughts are when and how often are they worn ie pence per wear. i remember a while back when she talked about avoiding fast fashion, then did the ITS collab but fast fashion is also about wearing what we own often

Lottie D just announced yesterday that she is a new brand ambassador for New Look and magically today Laura has a haul for them. Definitely trying to bag herself a BA role with them too.

None of those New Look outfits were giving off work wear vibes, I had no idea that was the theme until she posted it in her story. She looked nice in the first dress though, looked comfy!

Makes me laugh that someone who doesn’t work is putting together work wear outfits.

I’m so over her campaigning for bigger her sizes by all brands.

Yes it’s a PITA when you love something but it doesn’t go up to your size; I’m short. For many brands that stock petite lengths, they’ll only do so in certain, safe selling patterns and colours, and they no way stock everything they sell in petite length.

If you’re very tall, I imagine it’s a similar problem, or even more restricted.

What about fuller busts - shall I start a campaign against off the shoulder and strapless/strappy summer dresses because I don’t feel comfortable in strapless bras?

Sorry but I just feel like Laura’s campaign is all about Laura getting what she wants, and not about inclusion at all.

There’s a far broader range of sizes and shapes available now than there ever was, but we all have our bugbears.

The fact that she absolutely throws her toys out of the pram over a dress that won’t fit but doesn’t seem a cancer charity worth promoting, has actually really annoyed me 😡

That is exactly what it's about. She doesn't give a tit about the size 28s -or the size 26s who know when something doesn't fit right- who can't squeeze into a 24. As long as Laura can manage to not burst the seams in her front on photo with the word 'ad' written in white text on a white background, then she's happy; or as happy as she can ever get.
