This comment has left me speechless!
It proves what @Alessandro and @Antonio have said about her personality in real life.
She was very quick to lash out, when she would have had time to pen and word a more reserved even comment.
Imagine how vicious she could be in real life.
It also shows how disconnected she is from Italy and the life of Italians during this pandemic.
yeh I totally agree, it wasalso strange for me that she has seemingly never mentioned any restrictions etc (as far as I hVe seen anyway). watching someone like nicki pestano who manages to mention what they can and can't do etc without being negative is very refreshing.

Poor Guido. 😅 I can only image how many re-takes he's had to do for a perfect video. "No amore, you have to do it THIS way because that's what Italians do in films!!" 🙄😂😂
I initially thought Guido might be love bombed by Kylie and a bit insipid. This was before we met him.
I like Guido, I really do. He is straight. I wonder what will come out of the woodwork in tonights Q&A?
Will he allow her to lie or embellish the truth?
We have heard him say "but Kylie" in a few discussions recently.
We know the aristocracy and nobility have no legal rights in Italy anymore but he still has social standing, social norms, responsibility and a reputation to protect. Will he allow her to embellish the truth?

As Italians the pandemic has had a massive and disastrous and very personal impact on all of our lives, it has touched every part part of it. Some of my friends lived in a town in Tuscany that was one of the worst hit and there were so many dead there were coffins they were stacked up in church halls and schools. Everyone I know has a tragic story of family or friends who became terribly ill or passed away.

As soon as Covid hit, Kylie had the luxury to scarper from her flat in Florence to escape the restrictions and shack up with Guido in the luxurious confines of the family villa.

It seems very weird that her entire video output for 2020/21 addresses nothing about the pandemic that is affecting the lives of all of the people around her...Her malarkey about providing escapism and ”slow living” is a real abrogation of responsibility. She is as much a real ‘journalist’ as she is poet/artist/director/producer etc etc😬

I think having allowed himself to be in that embarrassing disney video I wouldn't rule out anything tbh

Poor Guido, he already seems grumpy and a bit fed up with Kylie’s hysterical hyperbole over every minuscule discovery whether it’s a paint chip or an old bed in the attic...But as she will be speaking “her truth” I don’t think she will allow any dissent from him🤭

If only he knew who the real Kylie Jayne is before it’s too late - she will no doubt feel much more free to let her true self out when (and if) the legal marriage documents are signed and she feels home and hosed😳

My cousin lives in NYC and is married to a man from Lombardy. His family was badly hit, he lost a beloved uncle and his brother, some cousins and a niece were all in ICU and will never be well or work again.
I skyped them last May to offer my sympathy and was flabbergasted when he said (with the Italian shrug) they weren't the worst effected family and they were rallying around everyone else! He just wished he could get home.
This resilience, bravery and utter kindness is what Kylie should be making videos about.
I was in complete awe because us Brits were moaning about bloody masks, loss of freedom etc.

I think having allowed himself to be in that embarrassing disney video I wouldn't rule out anything tbh
I am really trying to block that video from my memory. 😂😂

You brought up another thing I have come to despise, but ties into my comment about her acting like such a child. Every....miniscule....discovery. "Oooh look amore! Look! It's a ROSE!" "Ohhhh look....the trees are....green!"🙄🙄🙄

the thing that annoys me most is when she constantly says "ahh si?" and acts weirdly ditzy at times, I rememeber a really weird and unnatural conversation in sicilia on a boat with guido and her asking if caponata matched well with fish, as if that is something you couldn't work out yourself from having tried both elements

I think the comment also comes across as a little bit tone deaf and that she doesn't have that much self-awareness. She references capitalism and that dolce isn't Capri on a yacht but I am pretty sure I have seen a video where she is literally on a yacht in the south of France talking about how amazing it is. Her content features luxury hotels, expensive clothes and amazing city centre apartments which I would argue are products of capitalism and the opposite of "making do with very little". Although to be fair a lot of that content was before the pandemic, but even during her "slow living" in Italy videos she is wearing expensive clothes, and is featuring acres and acres of privately owned (I assume) land and different properties which enables her to live this slow life and honestly in my opinion exudes wealth.
Kylie is also branding this as a joyous life in Italy during a time where the country is suffering terribly with people losing their loved ones, livelihoods and are locked up in tiny apartments. So I can totally see where this lady is coming from and why she would be offended as the devastating effects of Covid don't even get a mention, and so her argument doesn't hold much strength in my opinion.

This is totally OT but I teach English as a foreign language so is always something I think about, but all of the Italians on this thread have absolutely perfect english, I am so jealous! I speak italian and would love to speak it to the level that the Italians on here speak english!

yeah I always worry about the people she is encouraging to move to italy, I love Italy but it really is not as idyllic she portrays it (nowhere is always idyllic of course), they will be in for a rude awakning if they move. I remember her talking about living in Rome and that every weekend it was normal for everyone to go to people's country houses for trips every weekend.. I lived in Rome for 4 years and cannot recall doing this once as I didn't have rich friends with second houses, it must be easy to live on very little if you can be supported by others. It also indicates how she could only have taught English for a very small time as all schools are open on Saturdays

Agreed @emm my partner is Italian and my Italian is rubbish to compare with the commenters here, even after 4 years of trying to learn !!

Oh God, yes!! 😁
I remember Nicki Positano said si twice in succession and my shoulders tensed and teeth clenched. It was like a Pavlovian response. 😂😂

I wish they had made a video together, I can just imagine Nicki being her usual practical/normal self and Kylie twirling around in one of her expensive dresses in wonder at the vegetable garden

I love that Nicki and Carlo can just grab a panino from the rest stop and be content eating it outdoors. Kylie would never eat like the "plebs" and so spontaneously. 🙄 I wish they had made a video together, too, as it would have been an interesting contrast.

yeh exactly, it would also be interesting to contrast her relationship with Guido and Nicki's with Carlo

And @Denise0211
I think Nicki and Carlo have a lovely dynamic. They have their separate friendships and do socialise separately but in a very united way. Their priorities are aligned and they are incredibly supportive of each other but somehow I can't see Carlo making a Disney movie and I can't see Nicki asking. 😂
I can't see Nicki using her wiles and being manipulative or passive aggressive.
I think it's the only similarity we have. I think Nicki is a "oh do duck off, Carlo. What do you want for dinner." kind of gal.
It has served me well for 25 years. 😂

yeah their relationship seems much more equal and like a partnership, they both cook for each other etc, she doesn't feel the need to act like the perfect housewife

Yes, tone deaf is the right description. I mean, we alle have been through a very rough 16 months and I for sure don’t want to be reminded of COVID all the time. So, on the one hand I am grateful for some escapism. However, I can see why blending reality out completely and pretending life is like a musical can be hurtful to a lot of people who have lost loved ones or their jobs (in her case especially to the people of Italy). Even a lot of Disney movies do not sugar-coat life like that and deal with harsh topics like death & grief (Bambi, Lion King, Up..etc.). Mufasas death still breaks my heart!
Maybe finding the middle between acknowledging & sympathizing with peoples pain, but also offering them optimism and hope for the future is the better way to do it.

yeah I agree, there is a way of addressing it but maybe qualifying it to say "we are lucky to be healthy/appreciate small things" etc etc , the total non addressing of such a huge event is just weird and just shows how out of touch she is imo

I'm not interested in the fantasy/movie/dream videos. (Cuz I'm realistic about life and I face it, and don't need a stupid Disney princess escape.) So when I saw the dress-up love story on YouTube, I passed by it with a hard no. After comments here, I watched it. I thought, wow Kylie has friends and can work with people other than Guido, even if maybe they're neighbors! Uhhhh no, we learn at the end, they were ALL Kylie.

Let's see if her stories change to control the narrative she wants people to focus on. If she feels injured by people who say what's on their minds, well, there is no cure for her if she's a narc. If she's not a narc, she will heal in time and whether she comes out the other side better, worse or the same for it is entirely her decision to make.
