You state a common but false belief that everyone who supports someone else’s endeavors wants to be their friend. I’m a patron of several organizations and there’s no “friendship” involved in any of it. If I’m a patron, I want to be treated as a patron, with the due respect, not as someone’s friend. I know some people are unshakable in their belief that everyone has the same motivation for supporting someone like a vlogger, even though it’s patently absurd that every person would do something for the same reason, so I can just state the reality that different people have different motivations.

I support a number of Patreons for podcasts and YouTube channels that I like. Generally, it's in service of getting access to things like extra/longer episodes, ad-free feeds, and in one case a Discord server. That's treated very much like a business transaction. Fee for service.
The Disney YouTube Patreons seem to a one personality driven. They are actively courting parasocial interactions. I have never seen anyone on the ones I support act anything like Kyle Pallo's #1 fan, the Hulkster, for example.

That makes sense. I agree it's transactional. You're getting something in return (or else there's no point), and that thing can be something intangible, like entertainment. Like when I sent the tree, I got a kick out of being featured in a video and it amused me to share the video with family and friends. Plus, the tree showed up in a lot in the background in JoJo's videos on YT and TikTok during that season, which also amused me. So transactionally, I felt with that I got my money's worth. Of course, what amuses me may be very silly to someone else, but we all have different things that we get a kick out of.
Poor Jojo and his pathetic little sob-story! He says he doesn’t like the way certain articles are portraying him - they’re just commenting on your videos, the content you just said you “stand by.”
And he compared what he does with his clickbait to what the news does, you know, professional media. Except he doesn’t make the same amount of money, “but it’s not about making millions.” No, you just said it was about making enough to pay your rent, insurance, and to buy groceries.
He said that disgusting cracked Pop Century sign thumbnail was just him “having fun.” He didn’t even realize he could add cracks on his thumbnail. Literally missed the point of all the criticism- you shouldn’t be treating a devastating hurricane as a bit of fun. That thumbnail made a mockery of the actual damage!
Jojo, like every vlogger, could be volunteering to help clean up after the storm. People are even travelling from other states to help. But, these scummy vloggers only care about charity when they get something in return. That’s why they latch on to Give Kids the World, because they have media events every so often. They wouldn’t even consider helping people affected by the hurricane because they won’t get anything in return.

Whatever this says about me, I don’t think JoJo deserves the same level of scorn that Kyle is getting.

Nah sorry they are just as bad as eachother, the cracked thumbnail may even be worse as its before you even wath the video. Deliberately editing it to look like some b grade disaster movie to sensationalise a disaster to get people to watch your videos and earn money is lacking any morality. He is a bleeping soulless head.
My thing with Jojo is that he had a whole day to see how Kyle and Tom were getting critized and still decided to do what he did.
I think with these people it's more like he had a whole day to see how many views Kyle was getting and thought I want some of that.
I agree JoJo wasn't as bad but this was his chance to distance himself by showing he can be a better person than Kyle. Instead he just said other people do it so I should be able to as well. Plus it was a whole video of explaining why he uses clickbait WHILE using his mental health as clickbait.
You know what REALLY does not help the stigma surrounding mental health? When people duck up, and instead of owning it, claim that the backlash is unfounded and harming their mental well-being.

Let's be honest, we all saw this video coming. JoJo does not handle criticism well and when there is a lot of it, he posts the typical mental health video.
At least he took down the Pop Century photoshopped thumbnail BUT it should not have taken an article in SF Gate and podcasts and Tattlers and viewers calling him out on it for almost a week before he realized it was wrong (actually I don't think he realized it, he just didn't want the backlash). Why anyone looks up to these grown adults who have the mentality of toddlers is beyond me.

Today Jojo vlog is he with a bunch of friends (so Kyle is not there) in a house party. What was the other channel for again?
My guess is he thought it was a good idea at the time and then he realized he already struggles to get views on his nearly 500K sub channel. His justification video made it clear that the money from a few thousand extra clickbait views is very important to him.
His newest video (currently sitting at 11k views) further proves that the mental health video was a ploy to up his views. Nothing he does gets the clicks that Kyle does and as it was said he's nearly at 500k subs. Think about that! His mental health video got him 20k views and now he's back to his usual underperforming numbers.He was banking on the bad publicity spiking his views and it didn't perform the way he expected. He needs to take a hard look and realize that he's not that interesting and people just aren't into him like the other vloggers. We joke that Kyle's channel is on life support. If that's the case, JoJo's channel is hanging out at hospice.
