So I happened to watch the halftime show. Don't get me wrong, I think she is a talented vocalist. The overall visuals were great.

But I just don't understand at all why some are calling her the 'undeniable Queen of pop' or 'the performer of a lifetime' etc etc. I think the costumes and huge amount of dancers made it look impressive, but Beyonce herself I found quite weak with the choreography. Blue was clearly very nervous and the time she was on screen I felt sorry for her, she looked terrified of messing up.

The music itself I also found catchy at best but cringeworthy at worst - I just can't wrap my head around the self-indulgent re-write of Jolene. I thought Jay-Z did cheat on her and admitted to it? So is the Jolene re-write a fantasy in which that doesn't happen?

I will say I know I am not Beyonce's target audience and maybe it just isn't 'for me'. But goodness, I just don't understand her and her music being put on some 'greatest of all time' pedestal.
Beyonce is a good performer and puts on a good show but Madonna is the queen of pop😒😒

I think the issue is none of the concerts sold out; ticket prices were significantly slashed and then tickets were actually given away for free through food banks. And that doesn't happen when you're at 80-90% capacity even - it happens when you have an embarrassingly low number of sales and you need to fill a very, very big space quickly.

I think it's great she's given tickets to good causes (even though it was done for the main purpose of bums in seats) - but I do disagree with the way she's gone about it; because her most loyal fans are the ones who have been shafted - paying £600-700 for a seat in the fan presale; which are then available for £140 the night before. I think it's a poor choice to have that crash in pricing; because it punishes the keenest and most loyal fans.

But she will need to start asking questions about the lack of natural sales; because something has gone wrong. Is it that she booked too large a venue for too many nights? Are people simply disinterested in Cowboy Carter? Is she simply a fading star and needs to accept it's time for smaller tours, venues, and more greatest hits to go on that nostalgia?

I don’t think we’ll ever know who Becky is. Beyoncé should have divorced him years ago though

I wouldn't be surprised if the Carters were responsible for starting or spreading some of the most batshit theories. Having all the nonsense stuff floating around helps muddy the waters.

Do we know when the rape of the young girl allegedly happened? Could it be that Solange heard about it and it's why she kicked the crap out of him in the lift, around 2014?

Woops, I didn’t realise that bit, but they could have sent her with someone else such as fellow crew members, aunt etc, rather than make her premiere a shady circus
Beyonce is also in the movie so it would be weird if she didn't go. I think if Jay-Z didn't turn up, people would have commented on it too. Damned if you do damned if you don't.

Their son is seen a lot less than his twin sister too which I think is even stranger.
I’ve seen rumours that he has a disability but that’s purely speculation

Yes but when it comes to the show are the seats filled? Dear husband could always buy up the seats to Make it appear she is more popular
Still tickets on sale for her London shows which is an indication that her popularity is on the slide. Or the fact her last album was awful

Yes, I am. The reasoning I've seen being used is that 'people can't afford concert tickets in a recession' as the sole reason for low ticket sales. If other concerts of similar sizes and prices ARE selling out in exactly the same economy, then that's not likely to be the issue.

I think there is a valid question to be asked on whether Beyonce is actually producing the tour her fans want to see. While it is the newest - and indeed more sales are likely to come, even if slowly - Cowboy Carter is one of, if not the worst-selling albums of her career. Do fans want to see a tour dedicated to it, or do they just want a greatest hits tour?
I'd like a Destinys Child/Beyonce greatest hits tour. I have no interest in Beyonce's recent music.

Not even close. Beyonce is still a megastar and can still sell out stadiums. Who knows, maybe Rihanna could too if she didn't stop making music but her shows were always pretty poor live
She's the 15th artist in the ranking of most tickets ever sold, with many of those above her with similar length contemporary careers (Pink, Ed Sheeran, Taylor Swift, etc). I'm sure they're great concerts and she's certainly a good performer, but so are the other artists who have sold more tickets than her - Pink for instance. Not my kind of music, but she's leaping around that stage like nobody's business.

Yeah, but Taylors voice cannot compete with Beyonce's though. She doesn't even come close.
I really don't doubt it, I think she's got a beautiful voice. But I don't think that alone makes her the pop star of a generation. I would say Adele is tough competition for her, Kelly Clarkson when it comes to powerhouse voices of now.

I think Beyonce is a marvellous all-rounder - she can sing, dance, has stage presence, etc. But I just don't feel for me personally that she does any of these things better than any others. And I feel most of her all her cultural impact and grip has come and gone with the 2010s. She isn't resonating with the public in the way the female pop stars of now are - like Billie Eilish, Sabrina Carpenter, Taylor Swift, etc. And that doesn't mean she's bad, or even unpopular, it just means she doesn't have that cultural grip these other stars do. Taylor spend 19 weeks at number 1 in the US, Sabrina 4 - Beyonce 2. I just can't in any good conscience say she is a bigger or more influential part of pop culture more than these other stars.

I think it’s hella mean to wheel their twelve year old daughter out into the limelight when he’s embroiled in an alleged rape scandal and both of them are mentioned a lot in relation to sexual assault ‘parties’.
They should be protecting her at all costs and keeping her safe from exposure to all of this and from possible repercussions
I get what you mean but Blue was attending the premiere of the film she has a voice acting part in, to make her miss that because of what her parents may or may not have done isn’t really fair imo

Sorry, I didn't mean to come across weirdly here - it's just a topic I happen to have worked with and honestly was shocked how complicated it all is, it looks so easy and straightforward on surface of singer sings -> gets all the money. I'm not a Beyoncé fan and don't know too much about her work, I do know this isn't the first time she covered or sampled a high profile artist and she will have some of the best publishing licencors work with her - as does Dolly P. I wouldn't read too much into how the credits are distributed other than that they probably came to a very good mutual agreement here and Dolly publicly said she liked Beyoncé's version and lyrical changes. Dolly also asked people to stream her original, so she cleverly used the publicity Beyoncé created with such a high-profile cover to keep her version also up and running and make sure people also knew the original is by her, plus she'll get mechanical payouts from Beyoncé's version. It's all really net.
Not at all, it's great to hear from someone in the know. Happy to be corrected.
