I have never seen her recipie for corn beef hash. I know loads of people low on funds who make that. You can actually make one tin of corn beef, beans and a few spuds make a pretty decent sized filling meal. Also colcannon is another good way to use up leftover food and also is quite fashionable ( weirdly) at the moment.

She is NOT A CHEF!
Oh yes, my mistake 😬
What exactly is she writing books for? All anyone needs is a pamphlet saying ‘look at proper recipes from chefs &/or cooks who’ve tested theirs and feel free to experiment a bit’.
Given Brenda’s experience, Jack could justify being paid to NOT publish any recipes more than she could the other way around.

100%. Corned beef should be used in a hash, not grated into a lasagne/bolognese/whatever Italian recipe she decided to ruin that day on DKL.

I'm a bit worse for wear today (had a catch up with a friend last night and it turned a bit boozy - and I'm not used to drinking or socialising anymore). Anyway, I'm not sure what possessed me to check out her website.

First of all, courtship. What the duck are you on about? One line reads truer than anything ever written by her. Oblivious to the emotional sentiment, I would simply mutter something about ‘not being a frigging cafe’, and make something else. I guess she doesn't always lie.
It's just so unnecessarily unpleasant, isn't it? If that's Jack's idea of 'courtship' I'm amazed Louisa lasted as long as she did before SHE LEFT.

This is how I work when trying something new; I compare and contrast three or four recipes, picking out the fundamentals and common denominators, then weaving in what I think will be the best bits from each, to my own tastes and intuition.

So exactly like Felicity Cloake's very long running 'How to make the perfect...' column in the Guardian? Wow, Jack you're such a fricking maverick.

<rolls eyes so hard I lose full use of them for ever>

I'm not even messing with you when I say there is a magazine in my house which contains a recipe for a lasagne baked inside a garlic bread. Basically lasagne Kiev. No, I have not tried to make it (nor will I ever)
‘Straya for you 😂 There’ll be lasagne lamingtons next.

(I say this with fondness)

The top one is like a tit poem. I’m sharing because how can she talk about ethics when SB’s body is rebelling against the tit she’s feeding him just for twitter content. twit.

If you were genuinely interested in teaching someone to cook cheaply. You would start with the basics, like a risotto or a pasta sauce or a stew, and then add on how you can adapt those to what you have.
I think there is a place for, what do I do with instant mash, in case people get them at food banks. But to keep choosing them is ridiculous.
Has she ever just cooked a chicken for instance, then broken it down now to use that over several days?
I mean, she's bought 20 sausages and used them day after day? 😅

Though I find the fact that she seems keen on using the sausage/bacon up because they are pretty long life (the sausages were frozen for example.)

Why does she automatically assume that it's Michelin star restaurants everyone went to for EOTHO??? I went to my usual (non-chain) neighbourhood places, as, I'm sure, did most people.

YES! Reading that reminded me of her saying how she hissed at Louisa saying she’s an adult and she’ll bloody have a drink if she wants to. Like... why is she proud of being a creature to people that love and care for her? Anyone normal would be mortified, this is why I get big demonic energy (the wrong type of BDE...) off her 👹

I'm another lurking newbie enjoying the hilarious summaries and the cabal's wit!

Happy to have reached the end, now I'm off to have a piss and a sandwich and get back to writing my novel (The Biscuit Tin in the Bedroom), we all know the Book Deadline is pretty soon.
