Yessss you’re right, like there’s an actual subject beyond the children themselves? Like the “product” is the meal and recipe not... haha isn’t family life CraZEEee / look at what we wear / my child did a poo all of which feel like a creepy invasion of privacy? Thinking about it I don’t disagree with junior bake off or that Lego competition either, or kids on kids TV or in theatre, arguably these all involve kids to engage a younger audience too like @Ninch55 says!Ooh interesting. I think, for me, all of Jamie Oliver's children have always been in the public eye to some extent due to his fame. So with Buddy (and JO's last two TV series) it feels controlled (in a good way!) to me. We are seeing what they want us to see rather than prying into their private lives and Buddy obviously LOVES cooking and presenting - he has a natural flair and is very good. It's clearly something he enjoys at the moment and JO fans get what feels like a glimpse into their family life. Does that make sense?

I think one significant difference is that Buddy Oliver clearly has a professional team and support around him, helping him put together the videos and making sure it’s all done properly. They probably manage his SM too. He’ll also be getting advice from his dad, who has decades of experience and has also managed his brand very successfully.Thinking about the Oliver junior thing and trying to unpick my own thoughts... I don’t know why I’m not horrified by him having a YouTube channel? I’m very anti children on social channels & especially the poor workhorse influencer children.
I don’t know if this is an acceptable opinion and tbh it feels classist of me to say as a lot of what makes it more comfortable hinges on their wealth and celebrity? Like the Olivers clearly don’t need the cash so it’s not as if he’s being pimped out like say the mother of daughters kids were to supplement a “normal” income? In all likelihood he’s having any cash he earns put aside & they’re building him a skill set / presence for a future career that he’ll inevitably step into with training, guidance and a healthy dose of media nepotism? Whereas the influencer kids are diminished if anything, like their childhood a depleting resource mined & shipped to the masses for free Regetta rain suits & kitchens?
But my hypocrisy there definitely doesn’t sit right with me (especially as it favours the rich) & ultimately I don’t know how I feel about it either way really? What does the coven think?!

I think Buddy is the only one interested in cooking and he started helping his Dad and it grew from there ? So organic rather than calculated? I remember in the lockdown show being surprised he was there helping JO and was actually a help IYCWIM and clearly used to it ? I guess for JO it’s nice to spend time together cooking I assume his own slot sort of grew from there ? Buddy Oliver is so obviously as evangelical about cooking and eating well as his father. He is a personable, lovely, funny kid who gets great enjoyment from doing the videos. The new cooking club for kids is brilliant! It's wonderful to see cooking being demystified and to see children from all around the world enthusiastically chopping and frying. He has this platform because of his father, but I see no danger of him being exploited. It's interesting to see that the older girls don't feature in the videos. I think that the Beckhams are a delightfully close family, but they do monetise their children somewhat. She is so full of bullshit!! I've just watched up to the point where she mentioned not having rich Grammar School schoolfriends back to her home and I got so mad that I had to go and pour a large glass of wine. My children went to independent schools for which we scrimped and saved (despite bursaries), going without new clothes and doing without holidays for years and years. Our last family holiday was when they were under 10 years old, but they had very happy childhoods and had great relationships with their schoolfriends. Yes, some of the schoolfriends travelled by private plane, one even had a private island in Greece!! The majority of their friends came from families wealthier than ours, but some didn't. The mother of one of my son's friends was a cleaner. The father of another friend was a diamond trader. Their schools were in outer London/Essex. I took some of the rich friends to Pontins on a Sun voucher. Others stayed in my parents caravan in Clacton. All the kids got along just fine. She is talking absolute bollocks.(I'm on a Grunka, but while I'm here...)
