The Greenbelt statement has left me raging (proper naan raging as well). It’s absolutely horrendous that someone who has STOLEN (yes the Lee Anderson thing was basically stealing) keeps being given a platform and paid partnerships to talk about poverty. My friends keep telling me I am obsessed but I can’t believe she gets away with fraud time and time again by pulling bad mentals and made up physical health issues. From what I’ve grunked on here there are so many people out there with genuinely difficult lives who get on with it and manage not to scam people. It really makes me sad. I’m sorry to rant but I dislike her.

Just for the newbies (used to have newbie Tuesday on one forum as that's when they could post)
She was caught wearing a watch that was released in March 2022, the year of summers then HH2 beg. No light bulbs, no hot water, boiled soap.
£7400 , bet she is furious about this
As I said I'll post this once a thread as it's abhorrent.
Well obviously the heartfelt appeal for financial help brought in enough money to buy lightbulbs, soap AND a stupidly expensive watch. It's not more unlikely than someone topping up their prepayment meter and spending the rest of their available pittance on a Cartier bracelet to keep them warm if the credit on the meter runs out too soon.

Just had a look on chrono24, and be lucky to get £6000 for that kettle now. That is some forensic investment

Her reputation is well and truly down the bleeper if organisers are now having to write statements justifying them booking her. Mortifying.
Sorry quoting myself like a ninny but seriously, how embarrassing is that statement for her?! I don’t know much about Greenbelt at all but I’ve just looked at their website and they’ve got what looks like 100 ish people booked. They’ve disinvited one person due to what sounds like a serious matter and then have the statement about Jack right above it. 100 people booked and only Jack receiving that much backlash about being kept on the list they’ve been forced to write a statement to justify it. Lol.

Almost certain she won’t be invited back next year.

Lol remember clean-shaven-neckbeard John who we briefly and erroneously thought was married to Cathy Newman? He’s sniffing Jack’s moist seat volunteering at Greenbelt. Cranks of a feather godbother together and that.

Greenbelt have finally issued a statement about Jack. TL;dr we like Jack, we’ve all made mistakes, we’re getting some actual povs along too and we think this cancels out her cosplay.

Ugh what a bleeping cop out. Jesus is shaking his head at you right now Greenbelt, shame on you for supporting a thief that is STILL stealing from people. She won't 'do better', she never does and her behaviour is continuing right at this moment. What a load of tripe you just spouted.

"no-one claps; instead, a reverential hush falls"

Euphemism of the century?
I can’t bear Billy Bragg, I’m afraid that the second I encounter some sort of disaster, like a bridge falling down, or the country being overrun by giant lizards, he’ll just manifest with his accoustic guitar and sing some godawful pseudo-empathetic improvised folksong about his feelings about its social impact.

You know the hand that's like a claw? Is that the same one that grows tomatoes for her lover?

Big soft, gentle welcome to all new ninnies 🥰
You've joined us at a bit of a lull.
I just hope guest comes out of retirement soon so you can witness a chaos in real time. It is quite the ride 😂
Thank you! I got so excited to see membership open and then crashed like guest on a Wednesday when I realised I probably now had nothing to comment on as there is no chaoi. Did she do this on purpose?!!
My origin story is a boring one of hearing about them, thinking okay, low budget cookbook = good, but having grown up poor (a very thrifty grandmother on one side, and a nana who bought my shoes and brought my mum a chicken and 6 eggs every week on the other) I was more than blessed with the knowledge to cook/make money stretch, I had no interest in actually reading it/about her. Weirdly no one has ever expressed a desire to watch me cook but friends do want to eat my food more than once.
Much later, someone I know pitched an idea to her for some kind of collaboration and guest used some of their ideas (I’m not sure what) and f-d my friend off. So then I had a somewhat souring view of her but no real interest still. Then the suing of Hopkins, which I felt was probably good, and now I’ve hit a blank as to what actually tipped me into active interest, but somewhere along the way this year I discovered tattle while looking stuff up about her to see if anyone else thought there were the same holes in what she said/mistakes/lies etc (come on who sells their kids toys?! Really?!!) and you all did. So, going through a very hard year, tattle grunking became my way to zone out of an evening for a while, then I began sharing bits with my slightly-younger Harold as I was bursting out laughing and had to
explain. He was baffled and horrified in parts, we admired the superb artworks here, cringed at the singing, and she has now cruelly curtailed our entertainment. I’m glad to be here though as I have been really impressed with the thoughtful, kind and wise responses I’ve seen here during my time grunking from the outside.

Weird guest-like but true story: I once found a genuine silver (imitation Tiffany) heart bracelet down a crack in a pavement. Years later I found a matching necklace, also in a pavement.

*New interloper poking head in*
I’ve been following this awhile. I find it super disappointing and alarming that someone could become such a well-promoted cook with no interest or skill in cooking!

I am however grateful that it wasn’t a ‘neurosurgeon named Jack’ kinda situation. Maybe performing surgery with improvised egg rings.

I have ADHD myself and can see aspects of it in her constant unfinished projects, overcommitments, and wonder if I’d be like that if I ever unwittingly (and unwillingly) fell into a mythical land where one of my random flaky hobbies became profitable. In that regard I can sympathise as I’d likely just leave a trail of well-meaning chaos in my wake.

But most people with ADHD are keenly aware of their liabilities. What puzzles me is that she never seems to think she’s screwed up, or admitted her limitations, it’s the crucial point at which the whole rickety construct collapses. And if she didn’t keep pretending to be living in grinding poverty she could gave admitted her liabilities and hired in help.

And it upsets me that so many inexperienced cooks are wasting food and thinking they’re crap at cooking, just from following something seemingly created by a crazed AI aardvark with a software virus.
But most people with ADHD are keenly aware of their liabilities. What puzzles me is that she never seems to think she’s screwed up, or admitted her limitations

Dead right! They are super-aware of their weaknesses - similarly people with autistic traits. Unless they are very severe they know that they can't read people or situations accurately, and work very hard to learn the social niceties that most=t of us absorb naturally. These liabilities are a reason not an excuse.

(In the interests of full disclosure, I have a child with autism and she has never scammed, or abused anyone, and when an infant was perfectly capable of telling a fib if she thought it would get her out of trouble, She is a pretty diabolical cook, though, so perhaps that is an unrecognised symptom)

It really pees me off when someone uses ADHD/ autism etc to justify bad behaviour - they rarely, if ever, have those conditions, and it is incredibly unfair on people who do suffer them, and who struggle to cope a lot of the time.

Come on now- Jackie gal ain’t going to turn up to Greenbelt is she? There will be a bout of illness, or maybe a house move to use as an excuse.
They’re deffo up to something as they’re so quiet.
Or finally writing the granola recipe up for there new Book, ‘forgotten food treasure’
They must owe their publisher a book or 2.
Maybe a memoir? Nah, there’s nothing we don’t already know and have the receipts for.

i do wonder how the boy and dog are getting on

This statement is so woolly it’s insulting. What “mistakes” do the organisers think she’s made, exactly? How do they think those mistakes will get resolved by her appearing at their event? They won’t be specific because it would properly show them up. It’s a nonsense. It’s like they think she’s Withnail - “I spent my Patreons’ money on sideboards by mistake!”

It actually made me feel stupidly anxious seeing how often she referenced it! Partly ‘oh hell, everyone’ll think we’re all like that with this constant publicity’ and wondering if I’d be the same in that position.

But although I’m basically the incarnation of chaos I don’t think ND people are typically deliberately deceitful, and at this stage it seems very disingenuous of her to claim it was all an innocent mistake.

It’s also odd for a hyperfocus to be done so badly! I’m not sure if her recipies started well and then just fell off a cliff, but given what she does after years of practise I’m not keep on sampling the earlier work!

It puzzles me a lot, as you say we’re super aware of our weak points and incessantly apologising for them! It just feels like some other issue is in play for her to never express any remorse…

I will put anyone else who makes further comments about the hands/claws/tomatoes/lovers combination on a timeout on the naughty step so that you can think about what you've done.
Some of us have only just finished eating donchaknow.

Letting a known scammer and fake pov have a slot on the program to tell lies about their experience is NOT the same as working with groups that allegedly help real povs (Trussell Trust, ugh) to help economically disadvantaged people attend the festival. What a load of sanctimonious BS this is.

Slightly OT, but the book about influencers that I mentioned earlier has a very good chapter on exploiting children as part of an online persona. Namely that since things on the Internet are forever, things that might embarrass children later in their life shouldn't be posted. If the children are old enough to decide whether they want to participate in the parent's influencing activities, they should be given that choice, and not have to participate if they don't want to. And if the parent is receiving payment or freebies for online posts involving their children, the children should get a percentage of whatever the parent/influencer is getting. Take heed, guest.
