What bugs me about jack is how she is absolutely LARPing as A Poor. And worse, if she has experienced true hardship her parents woul have helped rather than see their grandkid cold and fed inedible slop.
my mum was broke when we were wee, and I lived with my grandparents for a protracted period of time. But that was the best option going given other stuff that was happening too. But had my mum asked for financial help, while it wouldn't have been abundant it would have been there. As it was due to Other Things is was the best option for all concerned. Her pretending and lying is frankly a gigantic insult to all who have ever experienced true, bone deep poverty and drawn out financial issues.

That statement doesn’t paint her in the best light tbh, it definitely just seems like they don’t want to backtrack and there isn’t one golden bullet to stop her going (except there is, that she’s stolen money off actual povs but they seem to have glossed over that).

Isn't it lovely that they're going to make things right by... letting some actual povs speak in a separate tent, but not bothering to include them on their Lineup A-Z Grid View online, let alone their lineup poster or any marketing materials? duck off, greenbelt.

It's worth remembering that they said that the statement would be "agreed with her agent and thus by extension JM".
(I think that's a fairly poor thing for them to have done, tbh - by all means give her notice that you're making a statement, and offer the right to reply... but they shouldn't have let her participate in writing the statement itself!)
She has no idea. Years late to the party, she nicked it from someone who thinks they nicked it from Bukowski (but probably didn’t)

As usual she’s years late to the party because it kind of exploded on FB and beyond in 2013ish. It emerged as supposedly a quote from Charles Bukowski, except there’s masses of (extremely heated!) debate about whether he actually ever said it in the first place. Turns out he probably didn’t and it’s probably fabricated.

I mean, I’m not going to put myself up as an authority on Bukowski, but I have (I think) almost every book he’s written, I have recordings of spoken pieces he’s done, etc. I’ve watched countless documentaries on him etc. my memory is tit, so I wouldn’t say he hasn’t said it, but I’m not sure he has. I haven’t memorised every one of his words.
Id be sure she probably hasn’t even read Post Office.
