Yes, it's interesting that this anti-poverty campaigner (especially one with a child) never talks about access to opportunity. There's no talk of things people can actually do to help themselves or the next generation out of poverty or of how the rest of society might help with that, just advice on how to wash the cheapest hoops. Jack's brand involves an acceptance of the inevitability of poverty, and it's not because she's worried that any focus on enabling people to use their own abilities might make it seem like the poor are feckless wasters, because what she does do is tell the general public that food should cost no more than £20 per family per week and that a recipe book with the word "thrifty" in the title is the most best help you can give to foodbank users. Similarly she has all these conditions but never discusses accessibility issues and the hidden costs of being disabled, or the importance of being able to get a timely diagnosis to help access help for those costs.
The VBI's a good example of Jack's priorites, actually. It would be evidence of how the poor are more affected by inflation (as if we didn't already know that) and a first step rather than an end goal. As it stands this (actually non-existent) index is touted as somehow in and of itself helping the poor. "Oh, Jack proved that inflation hurts the poor. She's basically ended poverty single-handedly now, let's all clap for all the good she does!" It's about getting her name out there not about helping anyone. She can talk about "feeding people" all she wants but who doesn't realilse that even if you fed every poor person decent food they'd still be poor and their problems would be far from over?
I dont even understand
what the point of the VBI actually was. Everyone knows the prices have gone up. We dont need some dick to softy, gently etc provide us with 103 spreadsheets of Jack maths to tell us that prices have gone up as a result of inflation and that small annoyance of Brexit. A spreadsheet isnt going to solve inflation. It isnt going to solve the increased border costs. And its isn’t going to solve the logistics issues.
She should be out there signposting support as you say. Not tweeting shite about being off her nut and having the crank knocked out of her in a car park in E17. She should be working WITH the likes of That Man and the West Country bloke (sorry cant remember his name) rather than having a stroke becasue they have bothered to do something she has so dismally failed at. She should be at a food bank, or in a soup kitchen, or actually doing SOMETHING (ANYTHING) that doesnt involve a huge pile of Bolivian Tweeting Powder, sleeping till 2 and spouting a load of bollocks to neckbeards and rage nans. Who’s idea of someone is poor is someone that watches the Jeremy Kyle Show.
She should have forensically studied what state support is actually on offer to people so she isnt talking utter bollocks every time she opens her mouth. Actually have the information to hand in the 390 fucking notebooks.
But of course, actually doing something useful isnt on the radar becasue shes surrounded by enablers who ignore the sense of entitlement she has. They ignore alll the, quite frankly batshit crazy stuff she does and tweets. “Oh its just how she is”. No it fucking isnt. She’s been allowed to turn into this monster becasue the behaviour has been normalised and not picked up on!
I refuse to believe that she thinks she is actually doing anything of value. She knows that she is getting paid quite considerable sums for doing fuck all. Then starts clawing and wailing becasue someone else does it and does it better! She knows the grift is up and is riding it while she can because others who actually know what the fuck they are talking about are stepping up to the plate.
Apologies for the lengthy rant but im hungover and stuck on a train
