It's a very sweet film, although sad it is sort of uplifting. I got a wee bit teary at the end. no, this is now the final stage of our countdown to her absolutely not bringing a libel case. She never could have done it anyway, firstly because what he said wasn’t libel (truth is a complete defence); secondly because she would have to disclose her finances to prove a) that she wasn’t profiting from poor people and b) that she had suffered loss as a result of the supposed libel. Plus, in order to win a case of that nature you generally have to do as much as reasonably possible to mitigate any loss and reputational damage. She retweeted the vid of him making his claims - amplifying them, not mitigating loss/reducing rep damage.
And she never even emailed him herself, never mind got her pro bono solicitor to send him a takedown/cease and desist letter, so she hasn’t even made the barest attempt to reduce any supposed impact.
She just used the whole drama as an excuse for a nice big tip jar rattle so she could buy herself some more sideboards, Nikes, filler, Botox, jewellery, etc. etc. It was always bull. This is our countdown to the day we get to say “told you so” to anyone who was mug enough to believe her. The only uncertainty is which excuse she’s going to use. I see where you're coming from, but I wouldn't assume they have no idea about its history. We don't really know anything about the person in the photo or their background. I understand how it could seem borderline offensive for a young Londoner to wear it (like those ubiquitous Che Guevara t-shirts) but it might just show appreciation of a previous generation's efforts? I mean, I'm a originally from County DurhamI agree. My community was destroyed by Thatcher & it irks me to say the least that somebody is wearing that T-shirt & probably has no bloody idea about it's history, & the effect it's still having.
