Can I suggest a slight edit dear heart?

OMG don’t you know anything, Stephen?

The brambly mice at my receipts, because that’s what they do, Stephen.

I bought sideboards from 2013-2020 because that’s what the timeline says Stephen.

I would have spent a million pounds on being DEAD, because that’s what big spenders do, Simon.

Crap at the posting pics thing but Jack in the leather jacket with the helmet of hair puts me in mind of the second pic

Is a charitable act a truly charitable act if you haven't informed all of twitter about it?

My parents should get themselves into therapy ASAP then, because we basically spent our winters in bed wrapped in blankets because we didn’t have heating or decent windows. (Good job library books are free innit.)

What horrible failures my parents are for us being, erm, pretty cold for a few months every year, and having to use ancient ceramic hot water bottles when it was really cold out.

And this traumatic state of affairs was happening while dear little Jack was less than two miles away, snug as a bug in a rug in a nice big house and having her ballet and piano lessons and all that

Basic cereal, lol we had porridge oats with water because a sack of porridge oats was CHEAP … but I usually liked it, because it’s nice if you make it right and shove some sugar in; and it’s still one of my go-to comfort snack/evening foods, except these days I’m well fucking fancy and I quite often have some sea salt and cinnamon in it.) My ma and pa must be absolutely eating themselves alive with the guilt.

Was it an aspirational ‘ideal’ childhood? No, course not. Was it okay? Yeah. Absolutely. Like I’ve said before, I was pretty privileged compared to some of my classmates from actual shitty homes and shitty families. My home was stable and my family - though with the clarity of hindsight and adulthood, I recognise was weird and dysfunctional - was definitely less dysfunctional and harmful than many of my peers’ families. And I never realised I was in the section of society marked lesser-than until I got to secondary, started socialising outside of school for the first time, and met people from the other sections of society.

that quote reads as though Jack Monroe believes that poor parents should feel guilt if their kids are cold or eat basic cereal … and really, is that all that different to the sentiment behind what she reckons Michael Portillo said to her?

She’s irredeemably awful and a completely ignorant snob.

My mum is going to roll her eyes and tell me she already knows Jack Monroe is a spoilt cow thanks, and my dad will be amazed at how soft people are these days that they can get PTSD from being a bit cold in the winter. I know what they’re gonna say, but I’m still going to waste some of our precious time this weekend showing them her complete bullshit 🫣

(My parents can’t afford therapy for their terrible misdeed of failing to have heating anyway )

I think it’s all time to admire Jack’s thrift. If only we had saved by buying Smart Price instead of Extra Special, we could have saved the deposit to buy our Stetson Forever Home.

¡Dios mío! Three and a half threads to grunk? Sweet baby jesus and mary and joseph, I'll never catch up. I only logged in to say I'm enjoying watching her follower count drop like a shit in a latrine and was presented with War and Peace! Also, I can't keep up because I'm chaosing to the max but whenever it starts to get a bit much I just remember I'm not Jack and it makes it all better. Go well pals, see you on the other side. Fuck knows what I'm missing but it'll have to wait. Chapeau! Keep being FORENSIC. I´ll try and use tonight´s inevitable insomnia for good and not evil by grunking the fuck out of this shit.

Expect some Asian street food pics from Jack shortly

"When I travelled extensively in Asia, even an experienced and adventurous chef like myself was positively overwhelmed with the delicious creations of the marvellous street chefs, who tenderly and lovingly stood by their carts day after day, producing lovely eats" etc etc etc

I might be a complete moan, but I dislike many of those little free libraries. Often used to dump shit that also easily gets weathered. I absolutely adore public libraries though (full disclosure: I once made one at a community group event ).

Great chance also that at her new place there will be tons of restrictions to the use of communal ground if this space is managed by a third party (interesting bit on BBC Scotland yesterday night the 'who owns Scotland' series, where in a development in Stirling home owners had to pay service fees to Greenbelt, the company managing the public green spaces, without almost having possibilities to take them to account)

No, all though that one is also on my list.

1 Road from seafront. £450k. Bright pink 2nd bedroom.

@MancBee looks like 2 other flats in property
It’s most definitely not tiny, that one. Especially with the outhouse and the sun room (not an orangery)…

I'm just trying to imagine the reaction if I cast up to my parents that everything we ate was supermarket own make and ask if they feel guilty*. They are not violent people but I think the atmosphere could turn quite ugly.

*Other than the crisps and shit diluting juice I wasn't bothered.

Setting up the leaseholder/ block manager as the 'landlord' so she can talk away paying ground rent and service charges as 'normal' rent pcm?
It’s ok.if I remember correctly Free holders have the right to add the charges on to the mortgage balance if they don’t get paid.

So why not start giving some of the shit you have in all those boxes away 6 months ago when you started "practising" living in a titchy one bedroom flat? Why now, at almost the last minute? It's almost as if she needs to come across as a kind and generous soul to distract from her being exposed as a greedy, grifting c*nt, isn't it?
