I think she's in deep tit, and I have a feeling she's being investigated by more than one organisation.

If it was one area of her life, say HMRC, she could make a bunch of excuses and probably get away with a slap on the wrist, but if someone else is also sniffing around then it makes it much more difficult to put more than one investigation down to simple mistakes or flaky behaviour.

If this is the case the most sensible thing she could do would be to go into rehab, giving the impression that she's trying to sort out her life. Arguing about potatoes on twitter wouldn't be a good look at the mo.
I sincerely hope you’re right Mrs P. Jack has been able to run around conning and deceiving who the hell she likes, largely unchallenged, for way too long now.
As for I, Daniel Blake, I agree. It is not my or many others experience of coming from a WC background and being on the bones of our arses at all. If Jack was as WC and as poor as she’s made out throughout her life, then she’d know that…

Hello! I've been lurking for a couple of weeks (on holiday 🔺 so magically have time to read everything). I've followed Jack on Twitter for several years & have several of her books. I gave up on her recipes after making something diabolical from Good Food For Bad Days, but I'd been kindly disposed towards her despite thinking she was a bit dramatic and hyperbolic online. I read Hunger Hurts 2 and felt sorry for her, though also a bit baffled as to how she could be in such a poor financial situation after 10 years in the media. Two things changed my opinion quite suddenly; she started dating (on a dating app I guess) over the summer and began putting up screenshots of exchanges she'd had. And while I'm 100% ok with people being indiscreet about themselves, it seemed like a pretty vile thing to do to a random person who was trying to date her, without (I assume) their consent. So I started to think she might not be an especially kind individual, but then when she Tweeted about being offered "two TV shows, a documentary, three interviews (or whatever)" that day and turning them all down, I realised that Hunger Hurts 2 had to be nonsense, cos there's no way you'd turn all that paid work down if you were in that kind of financial need. And suddenly I felt ridiculous for having been sucked into pitying her for years, because there she was boasting about being massively in demand and turning everything down cos of her high standards/integrity/whatever.
I think HH2 was an eye opener for many people - I have been aware/feeling sorry for her for many years, although I was always uneasy about the obvious inconsistencies. Also couldn't quite believe that her family let her and SB starve. I went from "I think she's exaggerating" to "She's lying" at the beginning of the year, found Tattle and the rest his history.

Good morning, ninnies! Just watched That Man on Christmas doing the one pan recipes, and thought - this is how you do it, Jack! Engaging, funny, clear instructions, cooking food that actually looks appetising. I am not even a fan (truly, I liked him when he was a young kid in Naked Chef, not so much now). Also, had a proper fit of the giggles at the chocolate cake with mandarin segments. Yep, tinned mandarins in a cake, who'd have thunk it.😁

Ah yeah, I saw that like he said back in May View attachment 1634940

He’s saying again that poor people don’t know how to cook or budget so they need educating.

View attachment 1634954
That was Jack in the Guardian back in the day. 2013.
View attachment 1634955I’m no fan of Lee Anderson’s but FFS Jack. You’ve actually made the same fundamental point yourself. At least Lee Anderson didn’t blame BIG READYMEAL. And wasn’t looking down at the ‘real povs’ who don’t know how to cook like you. Ol Bootstrap still claiming you can feed your family for a week on £20 in 2022. Even though she doesn’t and can’t because she uses her ‘stocktake-d (stocktook?!) food hoard’ too.

Love that it was £20 back in 2013 and despite the 9 years in between she’s still claiming that same £20 is adequate in 2022 rather than saying IT CANNOT BE DONE no matter how much repulsive slop you sling together. bleeping Tory Pov Larper

PS, love that the Guardian also pointed out in its opening sentence of that article that she was “bright”, (so don’t worry, readers, she’s not one of those thick Jeremy Kyle watching tracksuited ones, phew!).

“A year ago, a bright, unemployed 24-year old single mother”
EDIT link to article to be FORENSIC
Grunking and will never catch up, but what’s interesting about these comments of Jack’s are:
If her shopping cost £20 in 2013 and she claims that in 2022 it still costs £20, then where’s the need for the VBI? Surely the fact her shopping costs the same as it did a decade ago confirms that either she’s talking utter shite, and as we all know, it isn’t possible to do a shop for £20 or prices for those in poverty haven’t increased.

I think I must have been alone in finding that film embarrassingly patronising about benefits claimants.

The portrayal of Daniel was particularly baffling. The representation of Northern men in their 50s as computer illiterate, inept and unable to adapt and change was really condescending.

The film showed Daniel as a man from a loving relationship whose partner died. But somehow all their belongings gathered throughout their life together seemingly disappeared.

It came across as if it was written and produced by someone whose last interaction with people on benefits was 20 years ago.

I could go on and on, the film was full of clichéd mawkish rubbish. An embarrassing portrayal of Northern men and single mothers.

What was particularly galling, was the film was directed by an 80 year old man, but depicts a man in his 50s that had a lifetime of work as incompetent.

It was typical of the media and middle class view, that sees them as the saviours of the poors. It was full of hyperbolic nonsense and this type of film, articles and books are poverty porn. The middle classes can tut and handwring and blame the government, whilst never going anywhere near a real person struggling to move on with their lives.

Sorry for the long post, but far from coming out of the cinema punching the wall and howling, I was angry that this film actually perpetuated disgusting stereotypes.

To bring it back to Jack...all of the above relates to every article she has written.

I'll get down off my high horse now.
Brilliant. I agree with every word of this, articulated far more eloquently than I could dream of.

Chapeau, pal!

TED indeed has (much) lower standards, but I have been done with the official TED talks for while now though.

My problem with with both TED and TEDx is that they usually boil down the complexity of huge problems into soundsbites. I am not saying that TED speakers aren't experts or all they say is wrong or uninteresting, but I really do not want to see another TED video about solving climate change or inequality form one narrow angle or with one technical sollution that completely leaves out all the compounding complexities of the world ("If we just use all the potato peels to make biofuels, we can power the world". That's all great, now show me the plan of rolling such a thing out and how to compete with the fossil fuel powers that be. Ah, not such a simple solution after all, is it?) It's moslty a feel good infotainment for privileged people in my humble opinion (especially those that can afford to attend the events).
Yes to this!

My problem with TED talks is that I don’t think a monologue is the best way to convey ideas or information. I always find two-way conversations so much more interesting. And a clearer understanding of the topic would come from an interviewer saying things like, “can you expand on that?”, or “are there facts/stats to back this up?”

I can see why Jack probably loves doing things like this because she gets a free reign to ramble on about herself without any interruptions or questions.

ETA. I know TED talks etc have their place, and a lot of people like them, they’re just not for me.

This really annoys me if true, there should be a campaign that you can only have one Twitter account.
I don't have a problem with people having multiple twitter accounts. I have three myself, and used to run a fourth, but with the two I use most it is very obvious that I run both of them (each account has the other's handle in its profile). The third one, which is in my real name, I barely use and only set up because work went through a phase of expecting us to use social media, and there was no way I was associating my personal social media with my employer.

There can be good reasons why someone has two accounts, and, frankly, Jack would benefit from having two, her professional bootstrapcook account and a private one for personal tweeting.

My problem is where it isn't obvious that both accounts are the same person, and one account is used to start arguments and insult people to defend the person who's behind the sock.

It’s her superpower, dur!

The sock arguing with accounts is pathetic and pointless. Shows she has absolutely nothing to do with her time. No one is getting postcards, even she knows it’s a waste of time. She’s going to hope to ignore it and hopes it goes away.

Found it. An interview with Tim Adams, the Guardian. It was in a pub called the Railway. At the end she says about all the fires she helped to put out 🤔 I knew it was there somewhere. It's a right puff piece.
I don't know how to copy it, I'm sorry
Oh and she's got a cold sniff sniff ❄

sock accounts eventually get found out though, and when they do, there’s no going back. Or, at least, it’s a long road back.
my interpretation is that the sheer obviousness of the socks isn’t Jack being careless, its actually more like she’s revelling in considering herself untouchable. But using fake accounts to attack opponents is a thing that nobody in their right mind can defend, and when *that* aspect is widely picked up, she’s toast.

worth noting that I think this is the longest period for a while that she hasn’t been published in the guardian - I’m just gonna double check that

I don’t know but she wrote this astonishingly narcissistic piece for the Guardian about the film, ostensibly about the effects of austerity but actually all about HER, HER, HER and her tired old tale of woe.

Note the horribly flowery purple prose. My favourite bit is when she “slopes out” of the cinema, “howling”, and “punches a wall”. (Whether she did this because the wall told her she should have kept her legs shut, is sadly not recorded.)

She turned down the Hollywood rights to her story??? When that would have given her child financial stability all the way through his childhood including either buying a roof to go over their heads or having money in the bank to ensure the monthly rent until he had grown up & flown the nest. That would have meant he could go to university (if that’s what he wanted) without the weight of a student loan hanging over him. That would have allowed them to go on holidays more exciting & educational than a couple of days at Butlin’s. Whilst Jack does & writes some absolute narcissistic rubbish, this “fact” that she’s casually dropped into the piece in the Guardian has absolutely made my blood boil if it’s true (somehow I doubt it). Because what parent wouldn’t do their utmost to provide the stable an environment as possible for their child to grow up in. What with that & allegedly turning down numerous offers of paid work (as a self employed person) & even full time permanent work that she didn’t even have the manners to reply to, it’s like she doesn’t want financial security but would prefer to bleat on about having to unscrew light bulbs again or selling redundant engagement rings. Or wear stuff found in puddles.

Apologies to the other fraus for the lengthy rant but Jack has got right under my skin this morning with the updated lies in the Twitter profile & liking recent tweets so she’s not taken a break from social media at all; all that’s happened is a temporary gagging order has been issued whilst she works through the lengthy list of sock accounts to delete them (I had wondered at the massive exodus of followers!)
