Yep, that's the thing that's getting me @BeautifulTrauma Jack was forcing it onto it's paws at 1:30am the night she got it. It isn't a toy, and after an overwhelming day of being in a new home there is simply NO CHANCE that was in the kitten's best interests.

I don't think the RSPCA would be interested but that doesn't mean it's not animal abuse, it just means that animal abuse is so widespread and they are so underfunded that it would be impossible for them to manage.

And I'm editing to say that yes, I think it's abusive to force a disabled kitten onto it's paws at 1:30am the day you get it. Sue me.

If it was me personally and my financial situation was a precarious as she makes out I definitely would not take on an additional needs pet.

What happens in months/ years down the line when the cat needs something and she is unable to cover the vet fees. Her son (I don't want to mention him,but it's only briefly) is getting older he will start to need things that will also cost more money, especially as he heads towards college and uni. She needs to remember these things too. If she is serious about looking after this kitten for life she really needs to think of all eventualities and make sure she can cover them all.

Also calling it Pretzel and that it has "lil bendy' legs is disrespectful. I know it wont be aware of these things but it really doesnt sit right with me. And then plonking it on her head for a photo op and using it to harvest twitter engagemen, sympathy and validation when it clearly doesnt look well! Ive no doubt she loves cats. But what she is doing is irresponsible.

the rspca would not intervene. The spca up here will only attend for a sick or injured animal.

It very much concerned me last night when she tweeted that she had been in very dark places lately and suggesting that this new cat was helping.

Jack needs to get help for her depression. Whether that’s ongoing depression or depression that’s been made worse by her relationship split. That’s the answer. A pet is not.

That said, the cat is here now. It really annoyed me when she called it Pretzel. Then Sophie Ellis Pretzel. Last week she was escaping twitter as it was a hell scape and this week it’s not a hell scape. If your son and the cat you have already plus your supportive pals can’t help you through a depression but a tiny cat can, what’s going to happen when tiny cat grows up. How will you cope when you hit a slump again. She’s said in a few recent articles that she’s had depressive episodes lately. The cat is a sticking plaster. The issues jack is struggling with are very much still there and they will surface again at some point. I bet very soon at that.
She has said she has 2 psychiatrists and a therapist on speed dial. That's all well and good but it's looking apparant that she is not helping herself, especially with the endless mundane posting on sm. I have always used mh services as a guide and then helped myself, I knew that other patients were completely reliant on mh services and expected it to be a magic wand. She is not going to find the answer in a new partner, her son, an animal or anything else really. If she really does have mh services to hand, she needs to utilise them, she needs to learn how to help herself. But I can't see it happening anytime soon, and I now wonder if the statement about the psychiatrists was even true.

Imagine, a child was born with legs that hadn’t formed properly, leaving them with crooked legs. You’ve seen the pictures before, children in a walker type contraption to help them move. Now, take that image and use it with a kitten, that cannot speak, it cannot get across the pain it is in trying to walk.

Couple that with an owner who’s only reason for getting the kitten is to satisfy their narcisstic personality and you have a recipe for disaster. It’s not just about if the kitten is ‘warm, fed and loved’ I’m sick to death of hearing this. The kitten needs to be with the correct type of owner who can handle the complex needs it has. Saying as long as it has some food and it’s in a warm room is fine, but if you have JM trying to make it walk on deformed legs, how is that acceptable on any sort of level?

If she’s not willing to share the details about the kittens vet visit and treatment plan, then stop plastering they kitten over SM. Least of all with the creepy sex faces.

It’s quite simply animal abuse to have a kitten that is quite obviously in need of specialist care and trying to force it to walk - you try and walk on two broken ankles and tell me what it feels like.
Precisely this. She has no idea what she is doing. Love means nothing if that love is misguided at best and used as a replacement for necessary medical intervention.

I cannot think of a reason that would be. You only need one psychiatrist to oversee a medication regime, it's not interchangeable with seeing a therapist. 'Speed dial' seems wildly hyperbolic also, they are doctors who have their own clinics and commitments. I will add that the out of office advice from my private psychiatrist is always to contact your GP or go to A&E if you need emergency care.
If she has the personal out of hours number of her doctor to telephone at will then that is a beyond inappropriate relationship and needs immediate investigation.

Until feels good about herself nothing will fill the void. It's like being full up and then having ice cream which feels good at the time but after a while makes you feel awful.

I have friends like that, that jump from relationship to relationship, because the alternative is too much to bare but yet the relationship doesn't last because they push it too hard or their head gets in the way.

She needs to take a MASSIVE step back from everything ( apart from her kid) and work on herself, her head and her heart. Get herself feeling the ways she wants too feel, be as happy as she can be with herself and then look for companionship. ( Human or animal) her therapists should be telling her this as it's pretty text book and I am no therapist.

I'm not going to comment on whether what Jack is doing is abuse as so many on here have a lot of experience owning and caring for cats. I'm not a cat lover, although obviously I abhor cruelty to animals in all forms.

However, I am really concerned that she suggested she is carrying the kitten around with her in her hoodie pocket. The tweeter above said that her husband carried around a cat in his front pocket for a year. I have NO idea if this is normal, but if that is indeed what Jack is doing, and it wasn't just a quick photo op (still gross, obv), I just don't see how that can be comfortable or enjoyable for the poor creature. I guess Jack is trying to bond in a similar way you would carry a baby in a sling, but surely it would be better to make sure the kitten is comfortable on as flat surface and give it lots of strokes and treats???

OMG hair chopper? I'm having an extensive hair loss period currently, plus my constantly shedding (human) housemate has me awkwardly scissoring every week ;) (lolololol) I will be investigating this asap!

If anyone might have any tips/supplement recommendations etc on hair regrowth they'd be gratefully received, I've just switched to sublingual vitamins, which should help :)
https://sharkvacuum.co.uk/#IZ201UKT this is the one I have. I live in a crappy bungalow so single battery is plenty. I hoover every day and charge it about once a week

omg the 'take it to the chorus' looool

Tbh whatever bleeping way you cut it, it's both bleeping odd and completely unacceptable behaviour. She is a grown woman, I'm not sure why she's so obsessed with infantilising herself (the teething necklace, the weird video, I did a chaos, the way she speaks like a 00s scene kid) but it's creepy. Grow up and take responsibility for the decisions you make, you have a cat that is going to require tens of thousands of pounds worth of immediate care & even more over his lifetime, so get started hun !

I suspect the cat has at least had a video consultation she cannot be that lacking in responsibility to have not done that as a mini

Love as said up thread isn’t enough

I completely doubt her motives for having the kitten it appears to be just for the gram and attention

I hope she gets the help she needs as I can see SB having a rough time at school when he is a bit older from his peers if her SM behavior continues

I think horse shampoo can help with hair regrowth- read about it ages ago from someone post-chemo.

There are apps that allow you to delete your tweets en masse

Sorry but her antics with this kitten have really just reinforced to me that she’s a bleeping bellend.

She can sue me. I don’t give a duck. She’s a bell end of epic proportions

To hopefully end this thread on a light hearted note, here’s my court costume. I can’t remember the last time a thread lasted 3 days. Long may it continue.
