Yes all the families and communities looking out for each other,the charities, the volunteers, the paid staff, the community centres, the churches, gurdwaras and mosques do duck all. It's just Jack. GET IN THE BIN.

My son works for universal credit, on a weekly basis he directs people to food banks, local housing, the Samaritans and many other places which offer help. During his first couple of months he won an actual award for the help he gave to a suicidal client who was at the other end of the country yet he managed to get the police to them before they took their own life. He never slept with his award not did he ever tell anyone to rinse their hoops, well I hope he didn’t. He also never bigs himself up nor begs for problem money on social media.

Right, ninnies. I've had enough of this prattling about the bleeping VBI. I have an actual job in data & research, what my boss calls "a very specialist set of skills" and a certain amount of concentration and free time I can give to spite projects and I'm going to create the thing.

The point of it is to prove that value products go up in price quicker than branded ones, right? Now, I don't have 10 years of (faded, unreadable, Asda-only) receipts so it's going to have to start from today which means there's going to be nothing worth looking at for at least a couple of months. I've started with pasta, baked beans and milk and so far have 80 records so although comparing 40-odd categories is best, I actually am just one person doing this around my real job and that would somewhere around 1000 records to update every month.

So my question is: if you were compiling the VBI, what 10 products would you include?

If I'm picturing my actually poor / working class / council estate / single mum upbringing (duck off Jack) it would be:

Pint of milk
Pack of custard creams (council estate breakfast and not ashamed )
Fish fingers
Potatoes
Baked beans
Bread
Cheap marg
Cheap pop
Tea bags
Multipack of cheap crisps

My mum worked in SEN when I was a teen and was one to one with a non-verbal kid who also had heart issues. She retired when he passed, it was bleeping horrible to see. Also the cacio e pepe recipe is bullshit. When my wife moved out briefly last year I was too sad/valiumed up to cook much. I'd stick some Lidl spaghetti in a pyrex dish, cover it with water and microwave for ten mins. Then drain it, mix with butter, cheese, salt and pepper and nuke it for another minute or so. Why would you duck about rinsing and draining tit? I'm not even poor (I hate that word) just tit with money and made bad life choices in the past.

I was walking in town one evening and there were lights etc and people hanging around and I dragged OH over as is my want as am a nosey person and they were all standing around the car.... I was walking in town one evening and there were lights etc and people hanging around and I dragged OH over as is my want as am a nosey person and they were all standing around the car.... I was most taken with Mr Hunt from the off....
