I am truly on a forever Grunk and hope this is not in the middle of a cross-thread chaos but I am watching one of my new fave bands on the telly and think the lead fella from Turnstile might be a secret Frau with a message for Jack
For not turning up to Glastonbury and subjecting happy festival goers to the tale of the poverty. Written in smol letters on the back probs.😂

I think she knows when she’s done something objectionable because if she didn’t she wouldn’t delete stuff like she does. But then I look at stuff she’s said about her horrible comment about Ivan Cameron after she was sacked from sainsburys and I get the sense that she really doesn’t understand why people found it so upsetting and offensive. She seems to think the problem is that the rightwing media are too judgemental of her, not that the comment itself was cruel and crude.

One of my narcs was like that. I could try to explain til I was blue in the face why I’d found a comment or an action of theirs deeply hurtful and out of order, and they’d apologise but you could tell they didn’t really feel sorry or understand why I was upset. It was more a sense of “ok, I’ll apologise to this mardy cow if it’ll stop her going on and on about it.”
I think deletions and apologies are avoiding accountability and appeasing people.

🤣 - and the bass player might be in line to steal her “stinkiest item of clothing ever” award from the pleather jeans wearing! Who wears a winter coat zipped up to the chin on a stage for a gig of this intensity????

I think this is partly because she has bought into the 'all Tories are scum' narrative, because nuance isn't really her thing (and she's hardly alone in that, sadly).

But more fundamentally, I think what she doesn't understand is that, even if someone is a complete hole with no redeeming features, you still don't crow or score points when something genuinely tragic befalls them, because to do so says more about your character than theirs. Especially when there's no causal link between their bad behaviour and the misfortune, and especially when other people are affected by it.

Nectar points are tit ... it takes about a year to get a fiver's worth
I don't do too bad from Nectar points. My main shop is Sainsbury's, but I do regular top ups from there and I get a lot of petrol from there as well (I pass it on the way home from work) The real totting up comes from the bonus points though, for which you need the app.

I mainly use them in Argos and it is often for things I wouldn't necessarily get otherwise.

I agree, and that’s what I was trying to say (badly). Narcs only every apologise if it’s convenient to them. It’s like the Jamie Oliver pile-on back in the day. She only apologised after the first week of her DKL gig and I suspect she was told to by the Beeb. She’s referred to it since then in ways that make me think she still doesn’t really understand what was bad about it.

Beautifully put. And also she didn’t seem to get that the comment wasn’t just a “cool and edgy” swipe against an eBiL tOrEEeEEe, but also a slap in the face to Ivan’s mother, siblings, wider family, the carers and NHS professionals who treated him, and the families of anyone else who suffers from Ivan’s condition. It’s like she’s so infatuated by her own brilliance and sense of rightness that it blinds her to all nuance and sensitivity.

Can we just return briefly to the fact that she has added ex-fire service worker to her bio and how absolutely batshit this is?

I don't comment very often because self confidence, but some fraus might remember that I worked for an adjacent emergency service in a similar role at a similar time. [I then found myself pregnant (actual single parent), asked for a shift pattern change, and, lo and behold! they bent over backwards to accommodate].

I carried out the role for 5 painful years, but I don't think I would even put it on my CV now, much less reference it in my online bleeping profile! It seems utterly bonkers (and a bit embarrassing) to reference a job you held so briefly over a decade ago?!! Especially if you go on to 'specialise' in a completely different field. Is it it because it's the only proper job she's ever had? Is she trying to convince people that she is a pillar of society? It just seems bizarrely infantile

Oh look at her proving she has empathy and compassion at the same time as planting the seed for someone to do this for her.

Squig I think you’ll find that she is everything that is wrong with this world.

Its because strikes and public sector workers being underpaid are very much deservedly in the news. It’s an attempt to stay relevant, and maybe get a sweet sweet TV gig or two.

I think it is all of this but also there are so many diverse, delicious budget cookery books, blogs and cooks who are so much better on TV and in interviews and I think this is also why her new bio stresses her books are for tiny budgets. She has even elevenerife'd budget cooking. Praise beans St Jack!!!!
