I complained to BBC Radio 4 about the food programme episode. Got a crappy reply not dealing with my points so complained about that, and have had only had a reply apologising for the delay.

BBC does not listen nor research. There is no VBI nor ever will be.

There was a double page feature of Miguel's recipes in this week's "Closer" magazine. They looked great, and came with budgeting tips

About a year ago the same mag had a tiny one off column featuring Jacki, with a del Monte slop recipe. Never asked back or featured again.
By his own admission he has been super busy in the last week or so and it's been actual work that can be seen and has been clear and warm and friendly.

Obesity is a now a bigger killer than smoking in the UK..(source:...er..google).but that won't be on Jackie's radar cos it doesn't fit in with her niche and therefore won't make her any dosh

Another frau here rapidly falling out of love with Radio 4. Saturday Live I had to turn off this morning, as it really gave me the hump...so sickly.

That was just people sucking up to Jack.
Same old damaging comments on foster kids. Disappointed the BBC would allow such bollocks to be broadcast, but it was all the middle class champagne socialists interviewed.

I was established middle class - based on having savings & exercising. When I removed them it changed to emerging

I read that the UK is now no. 3 in Europe for obesity after Malta and Turkey. Three countries where poor people are eating crap and getting ill. It's absolutely disgusting that such a wealthy country doesn't do more, but all Jack wants to do is write another poverty tome about people who died years ago which will achieve the sum of zero squared.

Haha not her whipping out "emotional labour"*
*IIRC it's a phrase meant to be used about the emotional strain on women of caring for relatives / older people at work / customers or colleagues at work / pupils while keeping a smile on their faces and a polite manner, because otherwise they will be harshly judged for being "mean".
Course, it now means "the strain on Jack of having to politely maintain a conversation she started"

And the thing is she’s sitting looking at her two phones with her six chins watching these utter cunts say awful things to this woman like

She could easily tell them to back off, but she actively stirred it up and now does nothing to stop it. The belief that she’s right and cannot be questioned is the most telltale sign of her narc-dom.

Not me doing a sociology PhD and not even knowing about this class category which also happens to be my own 😭😭😭:View attachment 1283394

Fully agree that class is a tricky one but I don’t begrudge any of my firmly middle class friends when they talk politics or poverty. What I would object to is them talking over me about the experience of precarity, which has become Jack’s whole schtick. If she reverted to her old story of “I was middle class and too proud to ask for help and it could happen to anyone” I’d be less bothered but as V described it the other day, she’s retconned an entire working class past which doesn’t exist, it’s just a pastiche of stories and cliché she’s heard over the years.
It's mine too. I have a post grad degree and am not young as I'm in my mid 40s. 😭

I havent looked at Jamie's campaign closely, but from what I've seen of the comments is that he has missed out on campaigning to get people better access to healthier food.

E.g. to get them to stop eating the rubbish £5 junk food deal it would cost them £7.50 to substitute with healthier alternatives. So if the campaign removes the £5 junk food what is there to replace it.

Happy to be corrected if I've got the wrong end of the stick
