I genuinely don't know anyone, no matter how comfortably off, who wouldn't think thrice about dropping £100+ on some old spoons.

To do so while claiming to be on the bones of your arse is bananas.

But also, cannot help but embellish and draw attention. The more sensible approach would be to not post about your frivolous eBay purchases at all.
It's like that Nora Ephron quote, "Everything is copy". Though in Jack's case it would be 'everything is #content'. She has so little going on in her life that she's got to create these little dramas to keep the follower count up.

You know that "oh no, oh no, oh no no no no no" song that was doing the rounds on TikTok?
That's what my brain did as I scrolled down those photos.
There's a sort of second hand warehouse near me where I could buy that lot for a few quid. I don't though.

If she displays her grotty old utensils in her worn boots, what’s she going to stick her cutlery in?

I am by no means a minimalist, but all the images I’ve seen of her kitchen stuff gives me anxiety. No wonder moving is such a monumental task for her.

bleeping hell, I'd forgotten about that picture of the fire place....it reminds of paintings by Heronymous Bosch. Or Steptoes yard...

We have a tonne of cutlery because of how many of us there are, but we never have enough spoons. It's like they evaporate. Husband's thieving scraggy cat likes shiny things so I blame him when I have to make tea with a fork.

Thanks for the new thread @Silver Linings :)

I posted this at the end of the last thread, but I really feel it is too good a counting opportunity to miss..... please forgive my indulgence!

I have 12 big spoons, 6 soup spoons, 4 tea spoons (where the duck do they all go?) That's my main cutlery draw. Then I have a posh (£40 from Argos in a fancy satin lined box) set for Crimbo and the like which has 8 big spoons, 8 soup spoons and 8 tea spoons, plus 2 serving spoons.

Therefore, in my household of 2 normal adults, we have 48 spoons. This is excessive, I am going to list them on ebay for Jack to purchase for a hefty fee.

How many spoons do you have cabal??
A household currently comprising two adults: 6 quite fancy silver serving spoons from grandmothers which are not being offered to online grifters; 24 teaspoons, 12 dessert spoons. As we have a degree of kosher observance, these are split between weekday and shabbat and we call them the 'milky' spoons. We don't eat much meat but there is a set of 6 meaty spoons, plus 6 additional meaty teaspoons, and another set of 6 passover spoons. It is quite a lot of spoons

Babe same, and that made me 🦉 and 🍾. Spreading cream cheese on a bagel with back of an ice cream scoop because a: I had no hot water, b: a ton of washing up by kettle and couldn't be arsed and c: because we're practical fraus and not ⬇...

(To add: I now have hot water, washing up done and use of knives #fancy )

It’s like ten thousand spoons when all you need is a WIFE!

are we clubbing together to send @MancBee to intensive rusty spoon therapy for 12 weeks then?

I wish I could see the alternative universe where Jack stays with Allegra. She was obviously desperate to move onto the posh cooking scene and instead had to go back to the pov slop….

If I were to be engaged as many times as Jack, I think I would be having a long hard look at what was the common factor...myself.

As I haven't I SHAN'T.

I am an adult living on my own with an occasional visit from Mr F. I have 6 teaspoons, 6 bigger soup/pudding/gravy spoons, 2 sets of measuring spoons (needed more from recipe testing days) and 1 big serving spoon. That'll do.

Confession, we have loads of cutlery. We buy to sell on, esp bone handled stuff.
Very saleable, she didn’t get from us. Fish knives and forks are stupid and never sell. None of what Jack brought is quality, you can pick up boxes of it at auctions £10-20 a box. Now good stuff is another matter.
The postage on that lot would be horrendous.
.
Fish knives are common ,Nancy Mitford said so. Also, completely unnecessary as properly cooked fish should easily flake away with a fork. Maybe Jack does need them
